We'll see if firefox devs either pull out what made firefox popular in the first place (IE not being a bloated piece of shit) or if they double down on their stupidity

>I-it's because of tracking protection, guys, not because of a loss of users.

you have to go back
>>>twitch.tv

>FF
>not being bloated
Mozilla got their marketshare from IE6 users. Now they have to compete against the largest ad company on the internet and miserably fail as everyone else.

Thats what happens when you end up with drones of fanboys telling normies to install chrome instead of firefox. It's how firefox got their marketshare in the first place, but now they're also losing their market share to it.

Why has it dipped so low lately? I know 2 big things they did to piss people off were when Mr Robot paid to inject JS ads into every page and the SJW 'fake news' shit.

Oh and how they drove away one of their key devs to make brave browser. What else did I miss?

Killing all the addons
Pocket

The sad thing is Firefox Quantum is legit the best browser on the market

>I know 2 big things they did to piss people off were when Mr Robot paid to inject JS ads into every page and the SJW 'fake news' shit.
Non issues, unlike the contract with the german botnet company. Of course an idiot like you won't notice something like this, but memes.
The marketshare dropped with the XUL addons too.

you can still request the user agent can you not?

True but it was so much better before quantum removed shit

>What else did I miss?
Cliqz was a big one. It's really a shame to see Mozilla sqaunder all the goodwill they built up in the last decade over shekels and sjw nonsense.

Nope.

>SJW BTFO
>GEORGE SOROS BTFO
>LBGTQ BTFO
>NET NEUTRALITY BTFO

good year so far

>below 10%
this comes as no surprise. their current meme browser accentuated even more.
why was it so hard for mozilla to listen to their closest contributors/users? there is no going back now

>tfw i called this 4 years ago, and cant find the archive bookmark entry

maho-ho-hooo

I used FF for years, but I stopped a few months back. The constant "tweaks" and feature losses was too much to put up with. When Quantum came out and invalidated themes, and did the whole stupid tab indent thing I gave up on it.
Firefox is just second rate. Its not like I really like Chrome either. Its just that there is no better alternative.

Net neutrality still going through courts. California is going to implement it in November, and it's going to be even more restrictive than the one the FCC repealed.

I was a diehard Firefox shill for the last 10-15 years.

But even i can't defend this shitstain browser anymore.

>constantly alienate core users in favor of blue hair retards
>market share plummets
Not a surprise

when i first saw this it was over for me

goodbye shitfox, id rather be part of the google botnet than the SJW botnet

Attached: pjw5gv.png (400x390, 24K)

Goolag wins

Google is the SJW botnet, they're just SJW hiding because a corporate facade, and the Pentagon.
We live in an absolute cyberpunk dystopia where we're denied even the cool aesthetic to go along with the mass surveillance and lack of choice.

It's not even the SJW stuff, it's these morons that Mozilla has that think that the internet ad industry can be salvaged somehow, and fixed to respect user privacy. It can't. They keep trying to make an unwinnable deal with the devil, instead of admitting that much of the modern internet (starting with Google and social media) ought to be burned to the ground.

>modern internet is working better than ever
>but my autistic obsession over a few nitty gritty things means we should start over

Grow up you boomer

On GNU/Linux it grinds my system to a halt after using it for a while and I have to hard reboot. Is this the memory leak I heard about? Using chromium is completely fine.

You must be over 18 to post here.

>>>modern internet is working better than ever
Just the opposite. This have been getting distinctly worse for some time.

Australis
pocket
hello
Breaking add-on support
quantum
being fag enablers
bloated 'n slow
Botnet
shitty name

What did I miss?

FF56 is the new uTorrent 2.2.1. I'll stay on it as long as it werks. And when it doesn't, I just fork it myself.

Look at how the size of web pages has ballooned
Look at the number of fucking trackers you connect to just to load the main page of any major website
Look at all the JS
Look at all the obfuscated code you're forced to run
Look at all the media you're forced to downloaded with no regards to bandwidth and basic file compression

The internet is not running better than ever. In the dial up days you could connect to a domain and actually start loading a page faster than you could today. When you visit a website today you're not just connecting to that one address, you're connecting to dozens. The state of the internet is far worse today than in years prior. Malicious ad distributors and normies have totally ruined what the internet once was.

>OMEGALUL
I've never used another browser, I use and still use ff, but I hope them to die a slow painful death. They fucked up the best ecosystem a browser could get. They fucked up the community with their politics, they fucked up everything real good.
...they even fucked up the sane versioning of ff.
Die motherfuckers, go bankrupt and end up in jail picking up soaps.

>In the dial up days you could connect to a domain and actually start loading a page faster than you could today.
Literally not true. You must have flyover internet.

>FF56 is the new uTorrent 2.2.1. I'll stay on it as long as it werks. And when it doesn't, I just fork it myself.
bullshit.
same shit happened with 27, then with 52, now with 56...
You'll end up eventually using something else or the latest ff version.

Wait a sec

How Firefox even makes money?

Close your browser, underage.

promoting search engines, websites and charity from retards.

Pretty much this. I started using FF back when it was Phoenix circa 2003 because all the fanboys on TechTV shilling the fuck out of it.

FF57 broke a fuckton of add-ons, so that probably caused some people to jump ship to Chrome.

I personally stopped using Firefox in favor of Inox because the latest versions consume memory like mad with just 6 or 7 tabs open. When Quantum was first released it was near flawless but somehow they made it all shitty again.

same. I got FF back in 2004 because EVERYONE hated IE back then

Attached: moz-downloadday.jpg (1044x753, 103K)

Firefox 3.6.6 was my favorite.

yes, but these stats come from tracking companies, if you block them, it doesn't matter whether they can get the useragent since their trackers are never requested in the first place. if you block enough of them, you won't be counted in any meaningful way in studies on browser marketshare.

Just use waterfox.

Edge is better than all those other browsers on that list.

best browser out there is palemoon.
It has the old add-ons, it has potential to replace firefox, but the addon developers disbanded or focused on chrome dev.

Not him but what's the deal with Cliqz? I looked it up and it seems like a run-of-the mill privacy browser, what's the scandal?

>tfw I lost my PDF of that
It was such a nice and simple way of thanking their users at the time, even if it meant nothing and had no value.

I wish they'd take that feature where you can push a site from phone to browser and vice versa where it even keeps the same page position if you're reading a long article, etc and make it work with Xbones. There have been times when I'm looking something up on my Xbones in the living room and decided to go back to the bedroom to my desktop and really wished I could just hit a button and it would load on my desktop before I even get back there. I know that's lazy af, but sometimes I'll be reading a really long article and not feel like bookmarking the page, syncing bookmarks, manually loading the page, then scrolling around to find where I left off.

ITT: boomers who still rely on the same old shit browser they grew up with

Times are changing: move on or step aside

based.

I'd ditch FF (because I disagree with their SJW pandering) but I honestly can't live without NoScript add-on.

Google and their aggressive marketing is the only real reason. Normal people don't care about Pocket, cliqz etc.

This.
Firefox has long abandoned the core demographic of their user base and is trying to pander to tech incompetents. The result is that these people have stopped parroting that one IT guy they know who used to vouch for Firefox. Meanwhile the Google homepage is among one of the most common things most people see when they use a computer Chrome has been able to vouch for itself. To make matters worse, Mozilla won't admit their horrible handling of the situation is partially to blame and continue to dig themselves deeper into irrelevance. It's a real shame because Firefox was a pretty decent browser for a while.

>charity from retards.
SJWs and Soros for example

Last year Mozilla allowed Cliqz to install some data-mining add-on to a small percentage of German users' browsers for "research". The program was opt-out and they didn't notify anyone they were doing it. Users caught on to it and the predictable (by anyone but Mozilla) freak out stopped them from rolling it out further.

Umatrix is better

Except it is not. It got on par with chrome/chromium in performance but the dev tools are utter unusable shit

i like how this board was so pro-chrome just a couple of months ago
now that firefox is the undisputed superior browser there's all these faggots going insane without a meme browser to follow

just install brave and pat yourself in the back, you're a meme now

t. neet

>Oh and how they drove away one of their key devs to make brave browser.
This was probably for the best considering the piece of shit brave turned out to be.

ads are indeed strong
based google and their browse faster now! everywhere

Well that is the power of pa/g/eets shilling

It does the same shit on windows, leave it idle for 30mins then try to do anything with it and it freezes my machine.

>Oh and how they drove away one of their key devs to make brave browser.
Who would want to have the creator of the most bloated language ever as a "key dev"?

another year, another win for ads

I left for waterfox because Mozilla arbitrarily decided I didn't need working addons anymore and they were wrong.

you have no idea what you are talking about and just hate random things because you saw other teens on the internet do it

Always bet on Google

t. fell for the eich meme

FF was simply inferior to Chrome for years. Quantum is the only good release of FF in ages. If you did not care about UI customization or your tinfoil privacy there was just no reason to use Firefox.

Good. Firefox quantum is trash. I'll stick with waterfox.

Without powerful addons and privacy,
There is absolutely zero reason to use firefox over chrome or a chrome clone like opera.

>UI customization or your tinfoil privacy
UI customization and privacy are quite literally the only things that are really important in a web browser.

I'm forever puzzled by people praising Chrome or the Quantum release because it runs javascript faster. You know what's faster still? Code that doesn't run at all. The vast majority of javascript on the web can and should be blocked entirely - in which case the speed at which a browser runs it is completely irrelevant.

>installing mr. robot malware in your browser without your knowledge is a non-issue

>implement screenshot feature in the webbrowser that automatically shares your screenshot to the rest of the world with a shareable link and this "feature" can't be removed

And they wonder why everyone moves to Chrome

fuck firefox

It's 2018 and Firefox still struggle to use hardware acceleration.

>Firefox marketshare has been negative for several years now
>it continues to drop
Wow what a big surprise.

They gave 10,000USD as a reward for some SJW feminist developer who suggested removing the words "slave" and "master" from a technical documentation PDF file

They fired the CEO and Co-founder of Firefox for donating to a traditional marriage law thingie

They partnered up with a german advertiser who has done malwaretising campaigns in the past (Cliqz)

They implemented a screenshot feature that shares your screenshots on the internet (very handy if you take a screenshot of your banking details or personal information because Firefox will automatically share it with the rest of the world)

they implemented "Pocket" which is a botnet app where you "bookmark" websites for later and they sell your shit to advertisers for money

they removed the original firefox addons (DownThemAll etc) and moved to Google's "WebExtension" addon language instead, which means all the good addons are gone and now replaced with feature starved (but more botnet, ads and information selling addons instead)

They injected fullscreen ads as an advertisement campaign (and installed an addon without asking) to advertise Mr. Robot TV-show

These are just a few of Mozilla Firefox issues at the moment

So the screens hots of the hardcore hentai and porn I watch is likely stored in (((their))) servers

Attached: images (24).jpg (390x377, 36K)

People switched to Chrome because it's better. If you can't remember how much people bitched about Firefox's problems then you're underage. All browsers are good until they stop trying and then someone else comes along that is trying. Mozilla stopped trying, and now Google isn't trying very hard.

was better*
Not implying that steaming pile of shit is the light that it used to be.

If there is ungoogled Chromium
We need unsjwed Firefox asap

Thanks for that info. I've been out of the loop since forever. Only reason I still use it is because the addons I use are still supported and my systems can keep up and have not noticed much lag.
Any ff forks anyone can recommend?

That's pretty much Waterfox

...

How does advertising play any role in Mozilla being run by fuckwits and making terrible technical choices and misallocating resources?

>OMEGALUL
Time to just head on back to /v/, twitch kiddo.

>56
hell no, thats 3.6.28
binary size is a decent proxy for complexity/LOC
30+ mb for a browser is unreasonable

lol ie/edge are at like %15

LOL based

I found it funny how Quantum was supposed to fix the memory issue but it's still the exact same

Iridium is better

...

Just disable it, sweetie.

>it has potential to replace firefox

My sides

JavaScript was never meant to be as bloated as it turned out to be. It was meant to just be something to make the little monkey dance on your screen
also you can't blame eich on what people do with his technology

If they want to start regaining popularity, they should enable more privacy features like changing their user agent to chrome and disabling the canvas api by default
The only reason to use Firefox over Chrome is privacy reasons. Monopolize on that

If the user agent shows Chrome, how would that even help them get more users? All the statistics would say people are just running Chrome everywhere. The OP's articles would show even smaller percentages. If every user would pay for Firefox I would understand that but now they're just running on popularity fumes.
