Based KDE weeding out poorfag systems

>give ur shekels for nu komputer

kde is looking very nice lately, waiting for the update to make the switch

> Wow, Windows Longhorn introduced blurred-glass windows in 2003 and the freetards will be having it in 2018.

Attached: 1485181497665.gif (422x290, 3.72M)

adding ktransparency and kblur to something that looks like shit won't make it look not shit

has existed for freetards earlier than 2003

>Longhorn
You mean a failed project?

> What is a codename?

Truth hurts, doesn't it

>tries to sound smart
>ends up looking like an ass

Linux desktops are the best evidence for the Dunning-Kruger effect when it comes to UX design.

It's gotten stable enough to complete with the other DEs.
At least you can just restart krunner.
Most other DEs hit a wall and tank your whole application interaction.

>Blur as feature in 2018
Lmao very hard that It hurts

for everyone? can you share their roadmap or something like that?

GTK4 is going to get Vulkan rendered blur

Can you even change your system font yet? LOL

I just like the simplicity of xfce

>window blur
Enjoy having hard time reading on that shit. Blur belongs to titlebars and maybe borders, but nowhere else.

ffs grandpa, it's time to let your AMD Athlon go

manjaro is based on arch soooo it's rolling release and there are no major releases, r-right?

ye
just have to edit .gtkrc-2.0 .config/gtk-3.0/settings.ini .config/fontconfig/fonts.conf and an environment variable for qt and any other toolkit
simple

2 menu buttons?

2 scoops

>for qt and any other toolkit
what. you don't have system settings?

font?

Holy hell
Blur with no shadow like in the panel and dock make it looks like shit.
And why the hell the launcher menu have an ugly border.
Kek, kde developer really can't into aesthetic.
This is what you get for not having single design decision controlling your design direction.

>system settings

Attached: wat.jpg (150x150, 21K)

>you don't have system settings?
this and qt are the reasons I use kde. the system settings are so comprehensible and yet very extensive and customizable

>And why the hell the launcher menu have an ugly border.
I assume it means that the widget is on focus

>KDE
>Literally the best looking DE out there
>>Looks like shit
The Jow Forums meme that has to die

manjaro is an OS
kde is a DE
desktop looks nice but i'm xfce fag

Please tell me that pleb blur is not the default

Honestly, I hated KDE and used to shit on it whenever I saw one of these threads, but I tried it out again recently and fuck, it's genuinely gotten pretty good. My only complaints are that the UI is still pretty cluttered and shitty to navigate, and Dolphin seems to shit itself whenever I connect my phone, which is strange for a DE that prides itself on its smartphone integration. It also runs like shit on Nvidia hardware, but that's not KDE's fault and I don't blame them for not cucking to Nvidia.

>Botnet, the OS

you're thinking of ubuntu m8

unless you're just against systemd in which case I understand

Seems quite legible to me, in fact more so than your typical semi-transparent terminal.

>And now with less toxic masculinity.
Fucking KeK

Attached: muh_kde_diversity.png (587x510, 399K)

I wish they would fix that bug where you can't browse the SD card filesystem of the Android device you connect to your PC with KDE connect.

Fuck off, retard it looks decent

gay post desu

>looks decent
for a testeless pleb

Attached: bread morality.jpg (600x612, 54K)

Where's "Type to search..” though?
Hahahah

No it's not.
Application menu will close when it's out of focus

for anyone wondering
this look will not be the default
the blur will be there but the default theme is not using it, nearly nothing is transparent in breeze (the panel and startmenu is, but it's basically unnoticeable)
you have to use a transparent theme and do some configs to get this look
I configured this theme look not because it looked super good but to showcase the blur capabilities
t. blur dev

You still there?
How do you apply blur on Qt Quick window?
Can you give me a simple hello world window looking like that?

Cant wait to jerk off at the marvel of KDE 5.13

Attached: 1521378062518.png (1920x1080, 1.4M)

>running marjaro in a vm because you can't bare to lose windows

seriously why not just use arch?

How do you want your DE?
JUST BLUR MY SHIT UP

>gentoo
>plasma
>powerwolf
It doesn't get more based than this.

Using manjaro. If I switch to arch repos will I get this 6 days?

well, not me
i've been using that new blur effect for a long time thanks to patched kwin

Attached: 1528274955937.png (1920x1080, 1.58M)

Honest question: does KDE's stability depend on the distro?

Arguably yes

Honest answer: yes.

No, about a month or so.

chaotic evil right here
it's OK if you leave your bread in refrigerator

Yes.
I've used openPEPE with KDE without any issue
Started using arch, installed KDE and it's fucking nightmare

>current year
>changing system settings on vim like a barbarian

Attached: 1526375861270.gif (710x828, 21K)

>use kde
>make it like gnome

>implying i encourage niggers pump out more nigglets

whoever made your gif is either colour blind or retarded or both
that black is absolutely disgusting next to the green and makes no sense as gnome is white if you've ever been to their website

>powerwolf
my nigger

Attached: 1523024135222.jpg (252x249, 22K)

and if I stay on the manjaro repos?

7 days later than Arch.

You can try this on KDE neon as soon as it comes out but I think it's wise to wait up

Trying to read the gray text strains your eyes and as the other user pointed out "type to search" is a good example of why blur/high transparency is shit. It makes the UI wallpaper dependent.
>semi-transparent terminal
Anything that has text on it should have a solid monochrome background, period. Transparency also introduces wallpaper dependency. I swear KDE """designers""" have no idea what they're doing especially if they enable this blur by default.

I bet you put pineapple on your pizza and like mint ice cream

That's not even the default theme or layout.

Does the global menu work with GTK stuff now? Also which applet shows the active window name next to it there?

Yeah, in the settings

How is Manjaro a botnet?

Why the fuck would you put your bread in the fridge? Freezer I get, but fridge, what the hell

Fuck meant to

>all that blur
>just fuck my gpu up nigga

Attached: mpu_r9_290x_radeon_gpu_fire_id1391767702_343178.jpg (650x520, 72K)

sure
here is a quick example
I can't post the link directly because Jow Forums thinks it's spam

>that incosistent padding and huge fonts at random everywhere
how can you use this?

bumping for this user

Attached: bbbbb.png (865x647, 412K)

Looking forward to see what they broke this time.

Nice, finally a reason to use qml instead of widgets. Does it need kwin or can we expect a fallback outside of plasma?

the blur only works on plasma
I don't know if the application will run on other systems at all, but it needs some kde libs to compile

The blur's been in neon dev edition for months.

I noticed that this gets really slow the bigger the window is. Can I expect performance improvements with 5.13?

Just tried it in sway(wayland) and it just makes it transparent without blur.
Oh well, can't really make something crossplatform with this. I guess i really have to learn javascript to blur shit myself and hope that laptops don't choke on it.

can't you use compton to blur things?

Nah, not a solution. compton only works in a tiny x11 camp with minimal display managers that allow third party compositing. I will not invest brainpower in solutions that only work for 1% of users. I kinda hoped that this was a proper kframework library that works everywhere. Does kirigami offer something like this?

>I noticed that this gets really slow the bigger the window is. Can I expect performance improvements with 5.13?
just try it on kde neon dev

>Oh well, can't really make something crossplatform with this. I guess i really have to learn javascript to blur shit myself and hope that laptops don't choke on it.
I may know a way to make this truly cross-platform
the solution may take longer to make than this thread will live
can you give me your mail address so I can contact you if I succeeded?

I have gaming PC so you can't agrue that I have low spec or less ram or whatever a reason I have 32 GB ram @ 3000mhz and KDE is so shit that it give slow animation to everything it is like playing a game in slow motion I was fed up with KDE and gnome shit now .... KDE wants to become windows let it be but if you want real world usage i3wm is OP
> low ram consumption
> WYSIWYG fast smooth performance out of the box
> easy to config
KDE have bloat like phone connect
Gnome idk what they are doing
Xcfe :- better for side use
Some other shit desktop environment

go back to /v/ pls

Please don't bother if you're just doing it to satisfy some angry user on an anonymous cavedrawing wall.
I'm just someone looking for easy solutions to make my amateur closed source business programs look nicer and modern on various clients.

I will probably catch wind of it if you decide to release your solution somewhere on phabricator or reddit/Jow Forums.
Not that I'm stalking you or anything, senpai.

32GBs of RAM lmao

well alright, I won't hassle with it
anyways, if you want nice in-app blur in your QML application I can give you at least the QML version of the kwin blur, which is cross-platform, but a bit slower than the real thing

Well i like Galatians, but not that hyped about it though...

>13 You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh[a]; rather, serve one another humbly in love.

Works fine on my Intel UHD Graphics 620 desu fampai

works perfectly fine one my 10 years old low end laptop too

Hey thanks. That's really useful.

Her jaw adsorbed all the masculinity.

What's the status of Wayland support?

Nice rounded edges
