>not old enough to look cheap and basic
>not modern enough to go for the gay tempered glass look and tons of rgb

BASED CORSAIR VENGEANCE C70
When I eventually stop being a poorfag I'll get one of these. Hopefully they'll still be making them at that time.

>C70
you fucked up OP, you went and posted the best case already.
/thread

>still has drive bays
what kind of shit case doesn't have drive bays?

every single modern case, its not aesthetic so they remove it

this and the arc midi r2 are the greatest cases ever made

>This bizarre Corsair shilling
Sadly the cases that have been around the longest are pretty shit. Look at the Antec 900.

shitty dust filtration.

Fortress FT02B. Enough said.

They already stopped making them unfortunately.
Go buy one right now, they still have some refurb units on amazon and their site.

Luckily I got mine a few months back, I just wish they were still available in white when I got mine.

You got diy some dust filters to a case yourself.

i like this case

Enthoo Pro is probably the best in full size towers. Decent looks, good features, cheap(ish). You can even get it without the gaymer window

Attached: pro_060717.png (300x340, 114K)

best looking mini-ITX case coming through

Attached: tu200-im-00.png (631x750, 172K)

my case 100% aluminium weighs nothing with only SSDs in it. Weighs less than even mini-itx cases that are all made of steel

Attached: 11-112-024-26.jpg (640x480, 17K)

brother got it in like 2002 I still use it in 2018

>tfw don't understand the autism people have against case windows

When people look inside and see a gtx 1080 with gaming motherboard they want to steal your crap. having a closed case makes it look like there's nothing of value inside. it's low key

get it now?

>When people look inside and see a gtx 1080 with gaming motherboard they want to steal your crap
Have you tried not letting people likely to steal your shit into your house, retard?

what if you live in an apartment and you have a cleaner, or some electrician or plumber comes over to do crap. you never know the reasons why random people need to enter your home

people, if they do see something expensive will make a note of that in their mind.. be aware user

>apartment
>have a cleaner
These things don't go together, user.
>electrician or plumber comes over
You are only in the same room with them, and you do not enter your room for the duration. Alternatively, fix shit yourself.

Attached: 1523572012928.jpg (469x409, 28K)

They will make a note of your house and then sell that info to people who will break in.

you don't think cleaners and other people who work in coming to homes do that?

it's best to not have expensive crap, that, or hide it inside a modest case. that is why side windows are cringey.

>They will make a note of your house and then sell that info to people who will break in.
Paranoia. Again, the alternative is learning and fixing shit yourself.
>you don't think cleaners and other people who work in coming to homes do that?
I don't hire cleaners because I can clean my own house, I also can fix things myself.
>it's best to not have expensive crap, that, or hide it inside a modest case
If you're so concerned about people stealing your shit at any given opportunity, perhaps try not living in the ghetto, owning a firearm, or living in a community.

If you have that show off attitude, you are def gonna get burned one day. remember, we are living in a world of animals and only our very loose law system is protecting us.

don't forget that when your stuff gets stolen because you had 1000 LEDS and giant window with 4 gtx 1080s in sli

>If you have that show off attitude, you are def gonna get burned one day.
Show off attitude of what? Not an argument.
>don't forget that when your stuff gets stolen because you had 1000 LEDS and giant window with 4 gtx 1080s in sli
How the fuck will my stuff get stolen if not for a random BnE? Stop trying to make up excuses as to why a window case will cause me to get my shit stolen most likely.

I've had my C70 for 5 years, changed the innards multiple times, and it's still going great. The only thing is I wish there wasn't a fan grill on the side panel.

idknow I used to go to lans all the time with like 1000 of people and that was the only time my computer was in the public. having a window in that situation is just nice because people literally want to look inside.

also no one stole shit. my case comes with a lock hole on it on the window side door any way might use that now if I go to a lan I guess to stop people stealing SSD because I just leave a stack of them loose inside.

Also do you have friends? Do you go to LANS? in that situation a window case would be even worse. Remember acrylic scratches easily and tempered glass can randomly shatter.

There's a few more reasons for you to chew on son.

You have to think of absolutely every factor and take it into account when making purchases. I hope we all learned something today

Attached: fmY1CvZ.jpg (870x960, 142K)

>Remember acrylic scratches easily and tempered glass can randomly shatter.
how thick is the metal on your case?

Go to Lowes and pick up a sheet of acrylic. Did the same thing with mine and it was like $20. Just lay the old sheet on top and mark the holes properly before drilling and you are good to go.
If you don't want to drill holes you could probably ask someone there to do it.

Very thick and well made

sit on your case

>Also do you have friends?
Yes? We've also known each other since we were kids and know where each other live.
> Do you go to LANS?
Never had one in my area.
>Remember acrylic scratches easily and tempered glass can randomly shatter.
Okay?
>There's a few more reasons for you to chew on son.
So far it's been conjecture.
>You have to think of absolutely every factor and take it into account when making purchases. I hope we all learned something today
I don't have a window case. You've done no teaching whatsoever, fuck off.

Why were you so vehemently defending them then? I don't get it.

sit on your case, user
that's what we did at lans in 1999

sit on it, if it's so well made

>make up convoluted reasons as to not own one when you can just go "i don't like them"
>"why are you defending them?!" when someone contests your argument
Classic.

Attached: 1438034776240.png (279x261, 41K)

not sitting on my case to prove a point... my case is the define c. you're not even the guy i was arguing with

you're not actually arguing with that guy anyway, you're bringing up random shit out of nowhere
why can't i?

sit on your case, user
or are you afraid to

*buck buck baGAWK*

>random stuff out of nowhere
>perfectly valid reasons why a window case is bad

ok

If you live in a gated community with security cameras and own your own home or whatever. sure fine, get a window case.

if you're like 99% of the people who are students, hire an electrician, go lan, live in apartments or regular home then yeah my point stands.

you are still standing too
sit on your well made case

>>perfectly valid reasons why a window case is bad
It was literally just "you'll get your shit stolen if you let people you don't know in" you stupid fuck, do you even know what you were arguing in the first place?

Attached: 1517714821216.jpg (539x540, 74K)

Get on my level, motherfuckers

Attached: QbBxPDpYQKWDgWj1[1].jpg (800x593, 138K)

I mentioned that acrylic scratches easily and tempered glass can shatter randomly, look above.

You guys shot back with "sit on your case". ???? that doesn't refute my point at all lol

and that's the whole point about window cases anyway, what else is there to criticize? It looks cool, but also cringey and it reveals what's inside your PC. People will want to steal or be envious. You're creating problems for yourself.

A case with a window is like wearing yeezy shoes.

The enthoo pro the BBC (big black case)

Attached: Pro-1z.jpg (2000x2000, 1.23M)

I got this case because you don't have to remove screws to take the sides off, but it's been A+ all around.

This.

Attached: 68_image_001_112015.jpg (1000x1000, 118K)

>mentioned that acrylic scratches easily and tempered glass can shatter randomly, look above.
Which are literally the only two reasons out of this entire argument.
>You guys shot back with "sit on your case". ???? that doesn't refute my point at all lol
Because literally everything but those two reasons were non-arguments.
>t looks cool, but also cringey
It's a window you stupid fuck, how can it be "cringey"? Take your reddit insult back there.
>You're creating problems for yourself.
Literally no problems whatsoever.
>A case with a window is like wearing yeezy shoes.
Jesus christ fuck off

I always thought those cases were pretty slick
Honestly if apple made cases with the option to get them in black, I would probably buy them.

you mentioned case durability, specifically that if you take the case to a lan party, you might get a scratch or a window pane shattering
well i'm specifically talking about lan parties too, at lan parties sometimes you gotta sit on the case

sit on the case, if it's so durable
i'm not telling you to find the fattest person at the lan party to sit on your case
surely that's not you anyway though, right?
nah, nah, you're not the fattest, we won't worry about that
we're just worrying about you sitting on your own case
go ahead and sit on your own case
you're not fat
i mean you're not fat, right?
yeah you're not fat
we're only looking at the load of, well, you
it should be able to sit on a durable case
even fat men can sit on a 1999 case, those are 3mm of steel and plastic
what's your case?
1mm of steel? yeah, that'll hold your weight, i mean you're not fat
you aren't fat
you're just not
so don't worry about that

sit on the case
you said it yourself, it's well made, so it must be durable
it can support you

I've got one sitting around, the whole thing is beautifully engineered and especially the case is stupidly overbuilt.

I actually really like this case.

Usually if you get a window, your motherboard will be a gaming motherboard with lots of LEDs and plated RAM and big gamer graphics card. Why else would you get a window?

See, it's not the window itself that is cringey, but if you wanted to get one, the components aesthetic inside is what is cringey.

Do you love gamer culture? Tell me, do you? If you hate gamer culture, then you agree with me that it id in fact cringey.

Don't we all here at Jow Forums deal with old pc's? Don't we buy stufff that is reflective of the best price/performance ratio. Don't we revive old systems and put a distro on them and tinker with older parts?

Am I right or am I right? Do you love Linus? Do you love the people he draws in? Do you love /v/, do you love being mainstream? Because by having a gaming window case computer that's what you're advocating.

Attached: 1513773401826.jpg (600x693, 43K)

I just think they look kinda cheesy to be honest. I used to think they were cool when I first got into computer building years ago but now I just like function over form more.

I didn't mention case durability anywhere.... please reference the post? lmao

Tempered glass is well known for randomly shattering. Your parts could get broken glass on them and it was all just to look cool, nice.

Also, acrylic can be scratched just from a cloth! Just from wiping dust off of it, you are scratching it! Talk about bad decision making

Also forgot to mention sound dampening. It's harder to get sound dampening with a windowed case, or most likely not even at all

check and mate

>I didn't mention case durability anywhere.... please reference the post?
and that... isn't how chess works
i'm sorry, user

you still have to sit on your case though

>not wanting more cooling holes on your case

I don’t get the whole air tight aquarium modern cases meme.

by the way, did you know that sitting on your case may reduce the vibrations and noise level?
as your body is not a hard surface such as a desk, it will not be absorbing the vibrations and be resonating with the object on which it is resting

by not sitting on your case, the noise level is SIGNIFICANTLY increased
you should really sit on your case if you're concerned about noise levels

The antec p280 is superior to all of these

I think the Carbide Air 540 will be around for a long time to come.

Attached: w5egr64s6dg46s8dg4we68g4s.jpg (1666x1436, 544K)

hey that's my case user

I'd say pic related. Cooler Master Storm Trooper. The non shit SE one.
>8x HDD or SSD bays
>4x 5.25" bays
>E-ATX & XL-ATX motherboard support
>Coolers up to like 190mm tall
>Fan mounts everywhere from 120mm to 200mm
>Plethora of stuff on the front panel. E-sata, USB 3.0, 2.5" hotswap dock
>Has the window of that's what you're into
>Plenty of space behind the motherboard for any after market cooler brackets imaginable

I'm going to be putting an Asus X399 E-ATX board with the new 32c64t threadripper chip in this case soon.

Attached: cooler-master-storm-trooper-atx-usb3-0-bez-zdroje-black_ien196541.jpg (385x600, 32K)

Lovely! But the large power and reset buttons do look a bit silly. Though I have to admit, having the reset button behind a plastic door is a neat idea.

Agree with this man (female). I like the overall design and potential for air flow but they shit the bed with the controls.

Attached: 1526175080324.jpg (1024x1024, 141K)

>still has drive bays
what the actual fuck for?

I had that one before I got the Corsair c70, I didn't like how wide the handle on the top is.
It looks like you can carry it in one hand, but fully loaded it is insanely heavy, I think if the handle were more ergonomic it would be more comfortable to transport.
I know there is a handle on the back as well but carrying the Storm Trooper isn't anywhere near as easy as the c70.

Attached: original.jpg (2236x1292, 1.39M)

I like both my HAF 932 that I use as a file server hidden in my wardrobe and my phantom 630 which can fit THICC server fans from panaflo or sanyo denki.

This is not a duplicate reply, Hiro, I am pointing images at this dork.

Attached: cup holder for computer.jpg (300x300, 14K)

I removed mine and installed another 3.5" drive cage on top of the existing two.
I don't actually have enough money to buy drives to fill all 9 bays, but they look prettier than the 5/25" bays.

Why do people love Corsair cases so much? I've never understood the appeal. The build quality for the high end models is disappointing for the price tag having worked with them
LianLi comeback when

Attached: 998498984984984.jpg (480x360, 11K)

lianli made their first acceptable case since the early 00s just this year

amusingly enough, it has no aluminum

Its this case specifically that is good, their other new cases are meh (although my friend has the ITX lunchbox one and apparently its pretty nice)
The c70 is made of steel, has good airflow, is really rugged, has a good amount of expansion, but most importantly you can instantly remove the side panels without screws, and it has really good carrying handles on the top.

> erase and overwrite child porn emergency button

really regret getting this case in military green

I need this

Why? I thought they were going for the "ammo box" FPS aesthetic.

kek

Which is great for a gaming case, with motherboards that literally have bullets as heatsinks.
But when you start gaming less and want a machine for work stuff it isn't as ideal. I also regret buying it in green, because unless they change the ATX standard this case is going to last me forever.

They were, I thought it was cool at the time but its impossible to match with any components or rgb.
Also this, plus I wish the side acrylic glass didnt had fan holes in it

If you like the case and don't want to make a custom window out of acrylic, there are mod places that sell acrylic windows for it that have the spacers and everything.

that's the lian-li isn't it? I think I had one of those, but in black.

I like the corsair line, like the 300r.

>USB ports on the front not the top
>top vent not flush
shitty design choices there m8

I have this case too user. I have no idea what to do with the hard drive area though. I collapsed it back since there was no way that would be useful for only two ssd.

I think it holds up pretty well for a 10+ year old "gamer" case
unfortunately parts of it like to vibrate now

Attached: k60-27[1].jpg (1000x1000, 488K)

>offers no explanation as to why
Okay then, whatever you say user.

*blocks your path*

Attached: IMG00000001.jpg (2816x1880, 787K)

Still the best build quality out of every case I've ever used.

The little tool box on the right side of the middle caddy can double as a SSD holder, however you need to cut out a part of it for the cables.

Attached: antec_p183_v3.jpg (575x330, 30K)

don't like the R6, just compare two small points with the R5: No side intake on the R6 both on the glass and metal side panel versions. The R5 has a window version with the same flaw but it's available in a non-window version with a side intake. The R6 also has the now popular power supply shroud and it's non-removable which means you're stuck with it even if you get the non-windowed version. It'd be an alternative if it had just one of these two flaws but it's got both meaning you can't feed your GPU fresh air from a side-fan or a bottom-mounted fan.

noise-dampening panels don't mean as much if your fans have to run at much higher speeds because the case is hot.

not making that power supply shroud removable was a huge mistake and an obvious one, what good does it do on the non-windowed version of the case?

I'd never buy a case without at minimum one 5.25" drive bay. Re-used an old MiniATX case to build a HTPC for my brother a few months ago. It didn't have USB 3 ports. Naturally I spent $8 on a 3.5" USB panel with a 2.5" HDD mount behind the ports. There's 3.5" to 5.25" adapters and also similar panels for 5.25" so it'd be fine if it didn't have the good old floppy drive slot. But no slots at all means you can't put new ports that may come along in the front later and you can't add a built-in card reader and you can't use the space for extra HDDs or hot-swap HDDs. This last point is becoming increasingly important since, sadly, modern cases tend to remove both the usual row of 3.5" HDD spaces AND the 5.25" bays that have been traditionally been in the front of all cases. The Arch Midi R2, for example, has 8 3.5" HDD trays and two 5.25" slots. The Define R5 has the same amount. These days a lot of cases have just two 3.5" HDD trays. Fine, you say, you're just going to have one HDD. The you run out of space and you buy another. And you run out of space again and now you're fucked because you bought a "modern" case with can't into hdd storage.

At work we have an engineering client with like, i7-920 systems in these cases. god fucking damn are they heavy. Makes me work up a sweat just moving them around.

absolutely in love with this chassis. built probably a dozen systems with it.

No frills aesthetics, lightweight but sturdy, plenty of room, tons of room for cabling. No gaymer aesthetic or association.

Attached: three-hundred-two.png (800x800, 423K)

Heavy is good, heavy is reliable. If it doesn't work you can always hit them with it.

Front panel USB ports are useless, you need a USB hub that can sit on your desk.

Attached: 411405-boris_the_blade.jpg (835x461, 31K)

I've had the Fractal Design Define XL for quite awhile. It looks like a monolith, fits in with pretty much any room.

Attached: images[1].jpg (176x286, 4K)

Tasteful styling, plenty of airflow, easy to work in.

Attached: case.jpg (1600x1200, 203K)

>Front panel USB ports are useless
this was for a HTPC. There is no desk. There is a need to plug HDDs into the front of it (there's also no networking in that room).

Regardless, my point stands: No option to add anything to the front - card reader or ports or whatever - is a limitation.
