Hello lads
Is the galaxy s8+ worth it?
I'm planning on buying a new phone but I'm poor as fuck and don't have that much money
So I wanna buy something worth the money, any advice?

Note 8 is curretly at 499 Euro in Germany. I thought the Note series is more price resistent than the Galaxy S phones. Wonder if I should buy it or wait for a cheaper S9 plus.

So, is the iPhone 8 the last flagship small phone or are there other alternatives?

stick to the s series
Don't buy s9 because it's the same as s8 but with better camera,if you're a selfie fag then go for it anyway

I rhink Nokia X6 could fit, rumors say Pixel 3 will have 5.3 in screen

My problem is that I use my phone one-handed a lot. So a 4.7 inch display is about my limit for reaching all corners of the screen. The bezel-less meme could have been great if they kept the same size displays in smaller form factors.

>Nokia X6
not a flagship and not small
xz1c but we don't know if apple want to release a new SE or not.

Redmi 5 Plus or Note 5 boys?

With essential cancelling their next project I guess this will have to do. I wish more companies would follow this formula instead of having huge notches when they don't even feature facial unlock.

REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

buy the normal s8.

Whats the best budget android around $250 USD?
I'll probably be ordering the Nokia 6.1 (2018) in two weeks.

Finally nutted up purchased a note8 but switching from an iPhone has been amazing in everything except for data usage.

On the iPhone you can turn off data usage for single apps whereas I can't do the same on this phone. An example is Spotify;
>iPhone can turn off data usage on spotify so the app doesn't connect to the internet whatsoever.
>Note8 only has the option to completely turn off data, and the data usage in the background feature doesn't solve my issue. Everytime I open the app, it still downloads songs in my playlists and streams more songs

Pls help, I don't wanna get raped monthly for going over my data limits unknowingly

Every time I pull my galaxy s9 out of my pocket the screen turns on.
how can I disable this?

How come nobody else can bend their display?

Apple will sue them.

Best Verizon phone to get? Price isn't really an issue; battery and processor are biggest desires, with having stock-ish Android (like Nexus phones) or not much bloatware is also important. Most other things -- camera quality, speakers, being bezel-less, fingerprint/face-unlock/whatever-meme-shit -- are not important, as I mostly use my phone as a portable computer. I guess I'll also say that having "standard" aspect ratio (e.g. not the tall Galaxy phones) and having semi-sturdy glass are minor desires.

My current phone is a Nexus 6 with a cracked screen, if that matters. I'm somewhat leaning towards the Pixel XL, but I'd love any other ideas.

Need a phone cheap, reliable, not xiaomeme.

Attached: 1526009715419.jpg (304x300, 21K)

your only option for being cheapfuck is xiaomeme m8.

Bezelless is the worst meme to happen since muh thin. Prove me wrong (you can't)

IPhone SE

I think bezelless non-thin phone would be pretty nice

XZ1 compact

one of those shitty unlocked phones in bestbuy/walmart for 50dls

Anyone knows a good app that i can install on a kids android phone, witch limits his daily screen time to a set amount but still lets him make calls?

Any Pixel 2 (non XL) users here? Thoughts? It's either that, an iPhone 7 Plus or a OnePlus 3T

Attached: 1527983801028.png (1868x1140, 603K)

S8 Plus is great but honestly if you are poor why are you buying fucking flagships. Just get a Moto G or whatever and work on not being a poor piece of shit.

Tomorrow

Need buy phone (2)

In America. T-Mobile
>Budget
~$400, but can go higher if I find it's really worth it. I'd say $550 max if it's truly great for that price.
Qualities I'm looking for in order of importance:

>NEED IT
Headphone jack. This is non-negotiable

>Pretty useful
Above average camera; as long as it isn't shit
Battery life that can last one whole day, and doesn't die super fast when idling

>Nice to have, but not a dealbreaker if they aren't there
Splash resistance or better
Design that isn't ugly (I don't get triggered by The Notch™ desu)

I was one of those guys who bought a Xperia Play and it's the best phone I've had. I absolutely destroyed my backlog of games as I'm a huge emulatorfag. Initially I thought about getting a Moto Z2 Force with the Gamepad mod so I could play Gamecube games on the go, but it not having a headphone jack has completely turned me off, so I figured I'd rather just go with a functional phone instead of prioritizing gaymen

(last thread I only got recommended the op6. Is that generally seen as Jow Forums's choice? Won't ask again)

>budget
Around $1000
>musts
good battery life, something i can charge in the beginning of the day and not worry about in till i go to sleep
and a headphone jack and water resistance are preferred but not required

$1000? for a phone?
you want it gold-plated or something?

its worse then a notch, at least you can hide the notch on some screens

Mi Mix 2 64GB

more like 800$, i converted it wrong

How great is the difference between a 6xx snapdragon and an 8xx one?

Pretty big performance wise in demanding applications, in regular use the 6XX is better on battery

I can do this shit on my cheap chinesium phone running Los.
I go to app info and there a bunch of sliders (no wifi, no background usage, no mobile data).
I'd be surprised if Samsung removed this from their UI

Pixel 2 XL, iPhone 7/8 Plus, OnePlus 5T for headphone jack

Dumb question

The 'keep unlocked at home' feature is super inconsistent. Anything I can do to fix it?

Why doesn't 5T shed price given that OP6 is out now?

Just turn it off and take your meds, it's the difference of a couple seconds

About to buy a LeEco Le 2 x526 to put Lineage OS on there
what's the worst that could happen

>what's the worst that could happen
You buy the wrong Le Eco, get the Le Max 2 or Le Pro 3

Samsung phones have a built in firewall feature which can be used to do that I think. The firewall thing is just an api so you'll need an app to utilize it. I think it's called Knox firewall.
Install adhell3 too while you're at it.

Assuming the price is the same and that I will flash lineage os on it which is better, mi mix 2 or lg g6?

thanks for the help user

Mix 2.
G6 should be way cheaper than a mix 2 though.

Is the G6s bootloader unlockable? That's a tough one, maybe G6 if you want mSD support

Mi mix is nicer but g6 has headphone jack and waterproofing.
Not sure with one has better camera/battery life especially on custom rom.
Don't really care about sd card or processor. I don't play games.

Mi Mix 2 has better SoC, I've heard they both have Google HDR+ support, no mSD on Mi Mix 2, and G6 has QHD+ screen while Mi Mix 2 is FHD+

Samsung was doing it first, though.

>no headphone jack

Is the oneplus 5 a good phone or should i get the 5T for 100 more?

Long time LG fan. I also flash lineage on all my devices. The G6 is trash the battery is beyond bad. Also the fingerprint is an actual button. Camera is trash and it's slow as hell. I bought two in Korea recently but I'm now using a ChinkPlus 5T which is also trash (screen quality is shit) but at least it's fast and battery life is slightly better. The G6 is really noticeably slow just multitasking and doing normal things.

I can't even sell my G6 'es on eBay noone wants to buy for over 180 euro

Sigh I miss the G2 days...

Got the G6+ and it really slows down a ton if the battery runs low and I charge it back up without resetting. Strange shit.

Camera is alright, mostly got it because of the ebin quad DAC. I am in love with thr sound quality.
Normally it doesn't run slow at all though, except the case I just said.

I went from G2 to Mix 2 and couldn't be happier.
Fuck nu-LG.

Fucking hell guys. There's an awesome TTS engine built in to android, why is it so fucking hard to get it to read out a webpage from a browser?

Does anyone have opinion on MintSim vs Red Pocket Mobile?
I'm thinking about buying an unlocked phone soon and am trying to decide the network.
Mostly in eastern US but also travel to other countries.

I'd honestly like to go with Google Fi but I don't want to use their phones. From what I understand you can do it, but it doesn't work with all the networks that would be supported, which kind of defeats the purpose.

Convince me not to buy a OP6 right now

Pic related btw

Chinkshit

Have smartphone features plateaud? Like what else can we add to a smartphone? What would be the next big thing?

At this point I really don't think there's anything we can add to a phone. I think we reached the end.

Notch is cancer

>Have smartphone features plateaud?
Yes
>Like what else can we add to a smartphone? What would be the next big thing?
Some superficial or gimmick. I don't know. Maybe hologram calls.

Flexible screen so that it can be worn as a bracelet/rolled up and survive bending. Increasing sturdiness in general
could come next after the current camera wankery, but that isn't something groundbreaking.

Mint is a gimmick unless you pay the whole year upfront
Isn't Red Pocket a Verizon MVNO? Why aren't you looking at Straight Talk or Simple Mobile?

I'm okay with paying up front, as long as it's cheaper long term.
I'm using simple mobile currently but I can get 3 months on mint for the same price. Unless I'm understanding it wrong.

All of them beat the delas I'd get with someone like AT&T, Sprint, etc.

/hpg/ has lewd anime pinup girls why can't /spg/ have them? There are tons of anime selfie pixs

Not really an issue
Show me a smartphone with similar specs for the price, i'm willing to make the notch sacrifice

Redmi Note 5 or Mi A1?

>Hurry Durr why can't people accept my form of autism
Try not forcing shit down people throat like a stupid sjw sweetheart

Hey Jow Forums I've got a note 5. Had a note 3. Use the pen a lot. Looking to get A note 8. Is this a good buy? Price isn't much of an object.

Considering popping open my note 5 for a battery replacement but want the new phone first.

Attached: 1525071552689s.jpg (225x225, 6K)

I don't think any Sony phone is CDMA compatible

Note 9 comes out in like 3 months. Wait for it.

Op6 in you like Android gaming and long battery. S9 if you like a far sharper display for superior shitposting and porn quality.

I think video still has a long way to go, but I agree with you.

They aren't

I went for the s9+, overpriced? Probably. But it has not disappointed me once and the battery is amazing on mid resolution.

>has to drop resolution to get good battery life

???

Here are my desires:
>Snapdragon 6XX or 8XX
>microSD card
>OLED touchscreen
>ip68 water resistance
>19 results, all expensive flagships
gsmarena.com/results.php3?nDisplayResMin=2073600&sFreeText=ip68&sChipset=27,1,2,3,4,5,6,7&idCardslot=1&sDisplayTechs=2&idTouchscreen=1&nOrder=1

What is the deal, Jow Forums? This would be a perfect phone for me

sorry i had ip67 in that filter by mistake

Which one jackass? You're too picky with what you want, it's called sacrifice my man, you're going to have to give up some of your wants to get a decent device

There is literally no perfect phone atm. You gotta go through each one yourself and decide the perfect one 4 u.

Emphasis on amazing, it performs as one of the best in terms of battery with max resolution, but much better on mid.

I suppose a 600 series would be okay for just casual stuff? I dont need a beefy GPU since I won't have mobile games. That could be my sacrifice. I heard the LG screens are shit so I must avoid it.
Yeah, we need to contact a phone company and tell them what Jow Forums wants: no notch, no front camera, unlocked bootloader, what else?

There isn't an LG made that sports a 6XX chip so you don't have to worry about that
I think the biggest issue you're dealing with is the IP68, not alot of phones meet that spec
What's your budget and country anyways?

as long as it has some sort of water resistance I would be happy (or is this a unreasonable criteria)? aiming for ~$500CAD or less

Aluminum back! Aluminum back! Fuck glass!

Currently have a nexus 6p. It keeps on freezing up and is just getting too slow. Changing apps is terrible at this point, and snapchat is basically unusable. Also, the battery is fucked and dies at like 35%.
>budget
nothing set really. definitely under 500, preferably closer to 300.
>features
decent screen. battery life pretty good. Half decent camera
>use
I mainly use normie social media- snap, instagram. also, Jow Forums etc.. Considering an i-meme just because snapchat.

It's kind of is an unrealistic criteria when your budget doesn't allow a flagship, which are the primary phones that get IP68 ratings, the thing is the LG G6 would fit that criteria if you gave up on the OLED, fwiw the LG screen is damn good for IPS
It's called a scarcity man

>amoled screen
>64gb
>decent battery life
>headphone jack
Is the Moto Z2 Play the best phone for me?

do amoleds still turn green

I found a good deal on S8+ so I'm really considering it now. Is Samsung a decent brand in current year? I've mostly had Sony phones recently and my first generation Galaxy Note was pretty meh, so I've avoided Samsung ever since. On hardware side S8+ seems to tick all boxes. It has a decent size battery, wireless charging, SD card, waterproofing and a headphone jack. I'm a bit worried about Samsung altering Android way too much. Is there anything I should know?

Checking it out. Looks pretty nice. I will read some reviews on the screen to ensure it's worth it. are there any competitors to this or is it considered a good value phone? A downside to the G6 H873 is that there is no unlocked bootloader..

What are the pixel 3 leaks looking like?

Now you want an unlockable bootloader? Christ kid, look these companies are getting fuckie with bootloader's because it cuts into profits
If you want an unlocckable bootloader, you're going to have to give up on IP68, ain't happening
To fit the majority of your criteria I would see if you can find a deal on the ZTE Axon 7, not the mini, it has AMOLED 1440p, head phone jack, usb-c, SD 820, dual forward firing speakers, Dev support, and mSD support

I'm looking for a new phone $550 or lower, but since I'm on Verizon I'm sure my options are pretty limited, I'm also coming from a Droid Turbo.

>Absolutely Need
3000+ mAh battery
Decent display panel, preferably bright and AMOLED, 1080p
Good software support, at least Android 8./P support

>Useful
SoC that's more power-efficient than a SD 805, it guzzles battery like there's no tomorrow
Solid camera/camera software. My Droid Turbo's camera performs pretty well to my liking so I'd prefer something on par or slightly better than that.

>Wanted but not needed
Quick charge support that doesn't destroy the battery over time would be nice. I really liked Quick Charging on Turbo but it always gets ridiculously hot while charging and it partially ruined my battery.
I'd like to keep the headphone jack but at this point I should just give into the no-headphone jack race.
USB-C as well
