>and

what's with this 3D crap?!

any way to disconnect the webcam on a T420 without dissembling the display unit?

You could try to take off the display bezel and see if you can disconnect it.

You can turn it off in the BIOS I think. It's possible on the T520. But to physically disconnect the camera, you need to at least remove the bezel.

>tfw your gf won't let you take and post naked pics of her and the tp

I'm going on auctions on eBay to buy a used MacBook Pro retina, I'm currently on a x230 (which I love and always will) but windows 10 is becoming unbearable.

I'm trying to get a decent one for 600€ top, which is still way overpriced compared to what we pay for these awesome computer. It is also underpriced compared to what the market is willing to pay for shitty hardware in a shiny cheap enclosure.

I'll keep my old ThinkPad for 3D rendering and live events when I need an egpu, for now I'm searching a cheap way to discover the Mac world and see if I like it

I'll miss you guys

(No, hackintosh is not a solution as I need something really reliable on the go)

Isn't it enough to remove keyboard/palmrest and search for the webcam plug? That's what I would do, disconnect it directly on the mobo socket

I have x230, I don't really use it anymore, it's just my backup for my desktop. Can I store it without battery? There doesn't seem any electronics in the bay, but connector, so nothing fragile to dust.

I wanted to ask on sqt, but fuck it.

Got a Thinkpad X1 Carbon 129127u
i5 2520m
8gb ram
320 SSD
Intell HD grfx 3000
for 215$ . Did I do well or no?

Attached: Thinkpad X1 Carbon 129127U.jpg (1000x1000, 61K)

>320 SSD
I don't think so.

How's the battery life on that bad boy?

Sounds good to me considering the SSD you got with it.

>8gb ram
>320ssd
How's the screen?
But for those 2 components alone, yes
If the screen sucks you should've go for a classic x230, better cpu and better made

Not very great... Like, a couple of hours and some change.

What do you mean?
There's 296GB usable with windows 10.
The colors are a little washed out, but I typically use IPS 4k screens. So it's kinda hard to tell. There doesn't seem to be any scratches AT ALL on the screen. But there is one tiny little white spot at the very bottom left.

I did kind of leave out some information, because if I got ripped... I didn't want to look like a total moron. I actually got TWO of them. The second one I got for 205$

Attached: tech priest magic.jpg (1280x720, 77K)

Sauce of image?

You didn't get totally ripped of but you're borderline on the right price for the conditions
The screen is a TN so yeah, an x230 would've been preferable

I should be getting my thinkpad delivered today. I don't know what model it is, it's either a T61 or a T400. I'm getting it by accident - I ordered the cheapest laptop that a used computer business was selling, then they offered me something else for the same price because the thing I ordered happened to be out of stock.

>You didn't get totally ripped of but you're borderline on the right price for the conditions
>The screen is a TN

Yeah... That's what I kind of figured. One thing is I would say that I thought it was an X1 Hybrid. I thought it'd be cool to have one of those, since it didn't seem very common. The guy just thought it was a Hybrid. The one with the NOT-android OS on it with Windows so you can flip between them. I'm happy with these, though.

I'd also like to run something by you guys. It does seem that one of the carbons makes a sound when writing. The SSD makes a small noise (I think that's what's making the noise). It's not violent, just seems like a writing noise. The other one DOESN'T make this sound.
I have bitlocker on it, but not sure if it made the sound before encrypting it.

>SSD
>Any sound at all
lol what?

It may be the fan, but it only seems when it is writing. It seriously doesn't sound like a fan. Maybe I'm retarded, but it seriously seems like something with the SSD. Maybe the fan is making the weird noise when the SSD is under load or some shit.

name and set?

I might win the bid on a T400. Is it good enough for watching Youtube and shit? Trying to get my parents off a garbage Lenovo N22 Chromebook.

this please

Disgusting roastie, shit OP.

Kill yourself you fucking cunt.

What model of SSD it's using?

>see 3D roastie in OPs picture
>first reaction i get is immediate disgust
lel how did this even happen
based 2D

coreboot causes my t420 to freeze.

Should i replace my RAM?

I don't have a job.

Some SSDs may have coil whine under certain loads and isn't a rare issue according to googlel, my Samshit 850 EVO does that when i torrent something and it's annoying.

that's great user but i do

OK, I got it now, and need some help.
The battery won't charge - the battery indicator light is orange and flashing. Windows 10 says "0% available (plugged in, not charging)".

I'm guessing the company I bought this from let the battery deep discharge while the laptop was in storage.

Is there anything I can try that might get the battery to come back to life, or is it fucked? Should I contact the company about it?

what the fuck is wrong with you niggar

redpill me on chink screens for the x200

I want to replace the thermal pads on the MOSFETs on my w541. I got some 1mm pads, nut now I'm not sure if they're thick enough. Does anyone know what thickness they should be?

If it goes to sleep and I press the power button, it makes the sound. It's also on the exact side the SSD is.

Is there a quick rundown of why the P52 is so anticipated?

Buys a macbook, not installing gnu/lunix
>Not already using gnu/lunix
Yes it is fine desu, but your parents are probably fine on that Chromebook, I'd just buy something with a IPS panel though.
>they probably just use it to read the news and Normieflix, jewtube, and porn

I wanna cum on her TP

Because all of their competitors have already released ultrabooks with 8th gen processors and they haven't released shit.

disconnected it in the BIOS for now, thanks

By a Huawei matebook and put linux on it

What about the X1 Carbon?

>tfw charging my smol 17W TDP X61t with a massive 135W brick
it's just like in my japanese doujins

Oh my b. Should've specified 15" ultrabooks. The carbon is nice but some people want something a lil' beefier.

did you pay a hooker so you could take this picture?

>Seagate ST9320320AS
I am sorry user but that's a HDD.

One side of my screen is slightly bowed. Is this fixable? W541

Gonna buy an SSD and chuck it.

>Linux
Not an option
I unironically work in video graphic, mostly for live events, my computer has to give me less problems, not give me more, I tried working on Linux with this stuff when I was a broke student, it worked but it doesn't go well when you have big responsibilities

I may think of putting it on the ThinkPad for home usage (rendering and stuff) but there are lot of specific softwares that only go on windows and Mac, with no real alternatives on Linux

I could legit just buy an SSD and pop it in, right?

Attached: slow heavy metal music.jpg (960x960, 50K)

>my computer has to give me less problems
if your linux is giving you problems, then you did something wrong. i mean, most servers are on linux, and these are not alowed to fail
> there are lot of specific softwares that only go on windows and Mac
virtualise it

Not worth it. Get yourself a better deal.

>Most servers are on Linux
And most servers are administrated by a team of engineers, everything is redundant, I can't discover something that doesn't work with my laptop on a stage and then figure out through the community how to fix it
>Virtualize it
Virtualize a performance oriented video mixing software that needs to output a 30fps video on 3 differently mapped video outputs with 4 different input tracks, one coming from a SDI acquisition peripheral with proprietary drivers? In front of (at least) a thousand people or (at worst) 2.3 millions people watching you on TV? These are very serious usage cases
Get over it guys, there are things that can't be done on Linux

I travel a lot and am looking for something to do art on.

Anyone know if the x230t is a viable art tablet? Just looking for pressure levels really, and are there drivers for linux?

Attached: fazit.jpg (1280x960, 237K)

would wife

How much did you pay for it?

smack the hole and buy what you want

Won an auction for a W520, i email the seller if the lappy boot to bios or not, he ignore the question and say it comes with battery and ac adapater, but said he misprint about having a hard drive, so there's no hard drive... still waiting on his reply on whether it boots to bios or not. Day #3 since his last reply :\

I do buy what I want. She just doesn't like my ThinkPad, so she doesn't use it. She uses a tiny ASUS netbook/tablet instead.

The Apple iPad Pro is a far superior device, having much better screen, battery life and stylus.

This problem doesn't happen when you instead buy a Macbook Pro straight from Apple.

well, I tried removing the battery, waiting a minute, then plugging it back in, which was suggested by some forum posts I found with google search. that didn't help, so I've emailed the company asking if they'll replace the battery

>asking AFTER you pay for something
are you stupid

You get an unusable piece of shit that'll melt by itself for 20x the price though :/

i am not stupid because I am waiting on his reply before i PAY him. I haven't pay him a penny yet. I'll give him until Monday, if he doesn't answer i'll tell him i do not want the item.

It's your mistake but don't pay and cancel the transaction, if they don't make you do that just don't pay, they can't do anything about that

Sure you should check before you do stuff, but since I started bidding on my smartphone I do that shit all the time, I bought a Chinese (used) car and didn't realize it wasn't a real brand (got refunded), a used camera from an Indian who sent it basically without protections, yesterday I got in a scam from a MacBook, it should've been a local guy but then it started asking to pay in a strange way (I didn't), then also yesterday bidded for another MacBook and realized it was from a nigga in pretty bad conditions, canceled my bid. I'm no racist but the guy accidentally put a selfie on the object pictures, lol he was the niggest

name?

You don't have to lie to us, we don't think any higher of you.

I think it's a T43, i might be wrong though.

name of the roastie

Well i don't know, who gives a shit about some random 3dpd roastie.

That's not an "X1 Carbon" that's an "X1". X1 Carbon came out the year after that and have 3rd gen Intel Core i-series processors.

yeah but it also costs and assload and doesn't run a real OS

she has the kind of body I like and uses TP that's 2 reasons to give a shit

Opened one of the carbons and found this was undone. Should I reattach it? If so, how?

>how do i plug an antenna cable
the state of Jow Forumsee

it's not the drive forget about it
it's most likely the gpu, what model you got ?

It was the drive. I unplugged it.

You literally just push it until it clicks.

what the fuck
oh i just read the thread it's not an ssd, good job user
check the compatibility list, check for mismatched sticks, test if it freezes in the bios or in the os (firmware vs drivers)

I took it out and the noise stopped when I booted to Ubudgie on usb.

This is what ol' buddy had in there.

Attached: 20180608_124524.jpg (3264x2448, 1.54M)

my x60s is using the heatsink fan combo but it's pretty expensive
is there a way to use the plastic fan that some models use

ebay.com/itm/HV121WX4-100-HV121WX4-120-IPS-20-PIN-LCD-SCREEN-For-lenovo-IBM-X200-X200i-CANT/322900822822?hash=item4b2e638b26:g:XC8AAOSw3xVaF4~h

What did they mean by this? There are two different model numbers, which one will they ship if I order?

I could just ditch it and use this shit, right?
flash.newegg.com/Product/9SIAA4457W2670?icid=WP_6_06082018

Yes you can. Last piece of advice is to get a name brand, something like crucial mx300. Save yourself some troubles if you plan to use it for a few years.

newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820167432&ignorebbr=1

What about this? I really don't buy SSD's and don't know how they all compare. I just remember buying nice Hitachi drives back in the day and they lasted forever.

Attached: sad kermit.jpg (714x739, 247K)

Intel makes good SSDs but they're generally more expensive than some other brands that are also of acceptable quality.

amazon.com/Intel-545s-256GB-SATA-64-Layer/dp/B074S8V6Y1/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1528478929&sr=8-4&keywords=ssd intel&dpID=41tGX74qqZL&preST=_SX300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch

I'll just buy this one, I think. I don't imagine I'll put a mountain of stuff on it.

Attached: dog happy.gif (200x250, 888K)

I came to /tpg/ to say goodbye, is that how you want me to remember you?
I've explained all in
When there are money involved proprietary software/hardware is the only way, it's how you delegate the responsibility to someone else to make sure what you're using just werks

can you share your temps
I'm using an x230 and it hops from 41 to 50 degrees in idle
there are 27/30 degrees in my room

Where's the trap?

Attached: FaceApp_1528339143524.jpg (1280x1280, 680K)

Desu, I'm not on Jow Forums 24/7 just most of the time. I'm gonna be @ lunix fest Texas though.

Attached: bobbyhill963.jpg (640x640, 94K)

Yeah exactly. The seller even admit in his reply that he misprint and there wasn't a 500gb hdd in there. But i don't why he can't answer a simple question of whether the item boot to bios. He even say he's fine if i don't want it, but why not just answer a simple question. I even told him, i don't mind missing a hdd if it boot to bios. The guy sound like an idiot. Maybe that's the issue at hand.
