Should I still be using this in CURRENTYEAR? Am I still sticking around using it due to my fondness for ancient memes? Has there been a better replacement?

mpv

>not using Winamp to watch your animus

No memes allowed

>not opening .mkv in Text Editor and hand drawing every frame from there

im doing the same, and also I have the same question

>last update in 2015

it just werks

That's why I'm asking. The VLC meme is obviously still a worse option even though it's a respectable project, but I'm curious if there's anything else or if I'm still at the peak, which appears to be the case.

>pleb but decent tier
Latest version of MPC-HC or mpv

>autism: windows edition
Configure the latest MPC-HC with madVR and meme shaders

>autism:GNU/Linux edition
mpv with configured with meme shaders

Literally the only better option is stream cr

install gentoo and bsplayer

Doesn't MPC come with all the necessary codecs now?

No.

MPC-HC is the best

also does anyone have the template for pic related

I'd love to use MPC-HC again. Too bad it randomly freezes my computer in the middle of watching anime. So I'm stuck with VLC. Sucks.

how about k-lite codec pack?

Use VLC.

mpv my friend

thanks my dude

>ded project

its just a meme that animefaggots perpetuate because they're too dumb to use mpv

>use mpc
>take screenshot
>it doesn't include the subtitles

>Use mpc + CCCP
>take screenshot

>use MPC
>take screenshot
>it includes subtitles

it just werked one day after i updated some components.

Cute pout.

Yes.

Change this

If you have an at least decent CPU and GPU: manually install newest versions of MPC-HC/MPC-BE, MadVR, xysubfilter
If you have a toaster: install mpv
If you use Linux: install mpv

isn't the default sub renderer good enough?
i had laggy subtitles when using xySub, but I'm sure that was a bug, however assfilter might not produce such errors
what i'm asking if the default sub renderer is enough, as it feels fast enough, or should i grab some other renderer?
what are the differences in performance?

>isn't the default sub renderer good enough?
It can be really slow with certain animated karaoke style subs. It can cause dropped frames even on nice gaming PCs with these types of subs.

>my dude
So many faggots from facebook,twitch,reddit

Is MPC-BE the natural choice with MPC-HC ded?

It's not dead. See:

I still have CCCP on my PC, but now I just watch anime on my TV, using the screen mirror opition on my cell phone.

On cell phone I have been MX Player for more than 2 years, I neverr tried to use anything else, since it work perfect fine.

I stopped paying attention years ago and just kept using it. Don't see any hiccups.

That has to drop frames pretty badly, right?

Doesn't MX display ads now?

>manually install newest versions of MPC-HC/MPC-BE, MadVR, xysubfilter
Thanks user, just did this

I don't know.

Only when you pause or browse your files.
And of course, only when you have your wi-fi on.

>tolerating ads in your video player

thanks, i'll make the switch when i notice issues then

>only when you have your wi-fi on.

I just turn-off the wi-fi, it is very simple.

>my video player has a botnet but it's okay if I turnoff the wifi
Why don't you just use something else?

It was best rated player when I downloaded it, I have never tried to use anyting new - like the CCCP that is still in my computer.

>thinking ratings matter
Just use mpv on android. I think it's decent.

Opinions matter, like when CCCP was the most recomended codec pack and like your opinion now.

I will try to use mpv and see how it is.

MPC-HC with SVP interpolation to 60+FPS.

>VLC

Dog Shit with massive asshole of a Dev

>MPV

Less Shit, but need maturing

>MPC-HC + K-Lite

Quality.

>winamp

lol....LOL LOL LOL...no. Best for music only.

>interpolation

BIG SHIT

>SVP

Stay sour, FPSlets. I watch all my anime at no less than 120FPS.

Enjoy your artifacts.

I don't get any artifacting because I have SVP Pro and can adjust my settings as I please.

Interpolation is not magic. You will definitely have artifacts on scenes with a lot of motion.

I don't. That's simple fact.

Prove it tough guy.

>interpolation
>no artifacts

Attached: 1521404298182.png (680x723, 403K)

Why should I deign to when you can't even afford a one-time payment of $25 to climb out of your low-FPS ghetto and into the present day?

Just use mpv

>he pays for shitty artifacts programmed by russians

>not flying to Japan, using a time travel device, kidnapping the writer of your favorite anime the day after he thinks of the series, and drawing, scoring, voicing and broadcasting it personally to get the perfect experience intended by the creator

Fucking secondaries with your downscaled anime

>sour grapes

I can just feel the buyer's remorse radiating off of you. Don't try to pretend it's not there, user.

I use 7zip because I'm not an idiot.

SMPlayer

Attached: smplayer.png (1362x727, 129K)

what the fuck do you even need to watch anime at 60+fps for?

that's a placebo if i've ever seen one

What the fuck do you need to watch anime as anything but a 1Mbps .avi for?

>that's a placebo if i've ever seen one
No it's worse than that. The interpolation method that SVP uses makes up its own inbetween frames to get to 60fps which is a process that will naturally result in error.

Honestly at this point I'd say even VLC is better than CCCP

Did libplacebo fix everything wrong with VLC yet?

The problem with the video glitching out into grey pixels are gone so at this point it's just gone down to preference of ancillary functions in the player

please tell me there's some kinda turbo autism reason for using that. that UI is hideous.

I use MPC + Kawaii codec pak. I don't know when it became a thing but that's what some anons told me so that's what I have been using. I figure it's pretty old since madoka hasn't really been popular since 2012. It just werks and I dabbled in MPC + MadVr, yet I don't notice a difference.

>caring about UI in a video player
You watch the video not how pretty the UI is. It just needs to work. That being said, the OSC is all you need and smplayer is bloat.

I still use KCP since I'm too lazy to get used to sonething new. It's good enough for me.

that's not the same thing and you know it

Not meme answer: MPV for minimal or if you are into writing scripts, MPC-HC or one of its variants for a useful and expandable UI.

It's actually pretty cool on highest settings if you have the power for it. Make moving still-shots smooth and not jumpy like they usualy are.

I use mpv

Attached: 1-Tekketsu-hen.mkv 00_11_49.959.png (1920x1080, 1.77M)

>K-Lite
Bloat, just use mpc-hc with madvr.

It's open sauce multiplatform like loonix and it's regularly updated unlike commie's CCCP.

Give me a config file and a manual over those shit tier menus any day.

MPC-HC itself is open source though

I bought legal Windows XP and 7 , and those came with FREE Winzip. Big deal.

Praise it brother

Just watched about 10 separate episodes of different anime; no freezes. So mpv also works, and is apparently more Jow Forums-approved than VLC. So I'll stick with mpv, then.
