Buy an i7 2600 for it and it should be a beast, LGA 1155 was a good socket.

also interested in this, is the 2600k better than a 3770k?

3770k is better, but your board won't support a 3770k evne though it's socket 1155 now will it support overclocking a 2600K even though it can run it (intel are assholes about that).

3770k, 4.5GHz @ 1.27v

EVGA 1080 FTW2

Only going to upgrade when the 8700k's successor comes out along with the 1180 / 2080 series. This setup works just fine for 1080p, 144hz.

Sorry thought you were the oem guy,3770K is better because it's 22nm, but it's not a crazy difference, if it doesn't cost much more to get a 3770K, get that.

That's pretty badass, i've put so much into my 8350 rig i forgot that T420s and newer are really cheap.

Stupid speccy.

>when you can overclock to 4.2ghz and a 120mm aio is enough to keep it below 60C
It's a good feeling

>FX in current year

Interesting that it reads your 2700X's temperature correctly. It's way off with mine (real temperature is 35-41 as per HWiNFO). Must be a motherboard thing.

Attached: spakky.png (660x525, 41K)

What do you expect from MSI? Asrock and Asus reads them properly.

Just can't replace it, too emotionally attached
runs 3 monitors, 4 Chrome instances with tabs number being in double digits

FX FineWine is real

FX is still getting it, you should pick up an 8350 secondhand and set it to 4.4GHz at 1.38v, I know your board would do it because Asus 8+2 phase is a bit stronger than gigabyte 8+2 phase VRM and my chip is not that good of a bin.

So many winfags, you'd do better with Linux installed.

The MSI board reads the temperature correctly too, you dumb hick. It's correct in the BIOS and is correct in other programs (as I literally said in my post). Speccy is the outlier, so it is the problem. What do you expect from a program that still can't identify DDR4 almost four years on from launch?

So thanks; I want to get shit done instead of ricing my desktop and fapping to trap cartoons

I might user, thank you
DDR4 is too expensive, can't do it atm

You're just jelly because you cant modify much in winblowz, trap cartoons are for macfagz.

Used to have my cpu at 5.1 under watercooling, switched to a smaller case and a 212 evo so had to back it off to 4ghz to keep max temp under load around 80-82c

Still need 2 more HDDs to block my airflow.

>5.1
Based westmere, I remember when the i7 920 came out and the binning was so poor, people would be thermally limited to 3.8Ghz daily on air.

Before this I had an i7-3770k and not a great one, little fucker didnt want to go past 4.7 without massive voltage I wasnt comfortable with, sold that and the z77 mobo for 250, bought an asus rampage II for 50 and this cpu for 30, profited 120$ and this oc'd this high is an upgrade from the top tier cpu three generations ahead. Westmere master race

That's a good deal, I down low envy the X58 owners even though I love my particular 990FX board and setup.

I'm proud of my little toaster, managed to upgrade to an i5 and add more ram.

Attached: speccy.jpg (796x590, 107K)

4690K is OC'd to 4.4GHz/1.23v. I contemplated upgrading to an 8700K since it was on sale for $355 CAD but I decided to hold out.

hey qts

This 8+ year old(CPU, MB) build is still serving me well as a home workstation/HTPC/storage machine. I've got an even older machine from 2007 with a Intel Q6600 still kicking in another room too.

Ayy lmao, 3770k club.
4.4Ghz @ 1.285V
Mfw I ran it at 1.210V for 2 years and didn't know what Prime95 was. Had 3 blue screens in that time... P95 wasn't stable at that voltage.

Man I remember reading these threads in middle/high school and being so jealous because I only had shitty integrated graphics.

Now that I graduated college I don't use my desktop for anything besides memes. I impulse purchased a 512 GB NVMe a few months back and haven't had the energy to put it in.

Pic related.

>he fell for the nvme ssd meme
amazing

impulse buying useless shit is the only way i get a high these days. good thing i have lots of disposable income.

>I want to get shit done instead of ricing my desktop
Playing games on your toy OS isn't getting anything done except the liquefaction of your brain.

I feel you
Getting 65c+ temps on my liquid cooled 4.2ghz 2700x when rendering in cycles. Then again my room is 76f.

Get the fuck out of here Kevin.

I feel that. I've spent over $1000 to get to the rig I have now and it's worth half that.

FX-8350 still uses DDR3. Just don't use the stock CPU cooler. I have a 8300 @ 4.2GHz with a Cooler Master EVO and it stays 20°C idle and 55°C under load. Don't be like me and cheap out though. 8350 is way better than a 8300

What are your GPU temps with that setup?

that 280 must run hot ass hell

Speccy isn't displaying the CPU temperature of the Ryzen 1700X properly isn't it? I just got one of those and it displays 50c+ temps as well. But HWMonitor, OpenHardwareMonitor, and CPUTemp all show around 30C.
