because tech flourishes by the grace of the nigger
if the nigger can not afford said tech it can not flourish

entry level barrier is way to high. Dropping 2k+ USD on a decent vr setup isnt for everyone.

I believe 5-10yrs vr will be standard in games, conferences, remote workplaces, social media and porn

It's too antisocial in structure.

It didn't. It's been following almost exactly the adoption pace people was expecting. Nobody thought it would take off within the first year or two. It will grow a lot in the next few decades.

western women are fucking disgusting

but anyway the technology just isn't there for people to wish VR to be standard in every household. I'm not sure what you expect. Have you seen uganda knuckles? That is all people unironically (but still exceedingly ironically) use their VR headsets for. It offers nothing else. Are you just pretending you don't know the extent of what VR offers today? You just wanted to post your disgusting questionable angle photo of a western woman in high heels since it looks like she's masturbating.

It's still far from done. Resolution is still too low and you get the screen door effect, and GPUs can barely withstand the current resolutions.
We need at least two more generations of headsets and GPUs.

>We need at least two more generations of headsets and GPUs.
if the next generation of headsets have good foveated rendering then you could run 4k panels on current gpus.

VR is like the Milhouse meme - it comes around every other year and never gets anywhere.

foveated rendering is a meme. There is no DSP engine with low enough latency to process where you are looking and then drive some rasterizer parameters. It would look all sorts of janky in practice.

i've tried the vive and i wasn't impressed by the screens, but it was a fun experience.
personally i'm waiting for these:

Wow, I guess I'll screencap your post and send it to Google and Nvidia to tell them to give up. Next time they'll check with you first.

what do you mean flop?
because you don't hear about it anymore?

Well the thing is you don't hear about it at all, there's no good reviews there's no bad reviews, that's because everyone that fell for the VR trap is now stuck in the VR world. They won't come back to give you a thumbs up or thumbs down. They have just left reality and will definitely not come back down to the same plane as us.

Price
The same reason why if niggernite got popular while playerflop's failure grounds got kneecapped after a while

Not only do you have to buy an expensive headset, you also need to buy a proper system and an empty space.

If shill aren't screaming about it 24/7 on Jow Forums, Jow Forums considers it a flop

once spielberg makes a good jurrasic park vr island this shit gonna take off

it did not flop, there's very active development going on everywhere and adoption rates are not half-bad for such an experimental consumer technology in an early stage

>wake up
>have fun playing beat saber, h3vr, and overload for a few hours before lunch
>get on Jow Forums

Gonna need source on that pic....

just because you don't have it doesn't mean it flopped

It is not AR.

Because AR are more applicable and easy to drive. (you can use it with your phone)

Sony seem to disagree with you.

Yes user, I'm sure that wearing a goofy fucking headset will be standard in
>smartphone-centric gaming
>business settings
>places with poor connections
>facebook's declining traffic
>porn that only requires a cardboard viewer and a smartphone

Very lucrative I'm sure.

Me too, just got done playing Wario Land on my Virtual Boy.

Stop being poor and buy a real headset.

thinking about buying one of these just for porn

Attached: pronset.png (962x626, 121K)

i bought one of these, only complaint is some vidya dont naturally support it so it can be a bit buggy or clunky

>shit tech from late 00's
>recylced phone displays
>oled a poo
>sub 4k-8k shit = screen door effect
>api's, ingame renderers, drivers and gpu hardware not ready
>No killer applications, programs/games (This is the biggest reason at all for me, if there was a HL3 of vr like valves techdemos i'd be all over that shit)
>Wagglan controls instantly date the experience to the late 00s and the 2nd biggest issue besides nogames (Surely there is better options out here like kinect based stuff as well as wireless stuff)
>Expensive and complicated to setup, requires a big room (which i have 15x30 meters with high sealings if i cleared it out)
>No decent wireless light wearable headsets, current sets are bulk, wired and expensive.
>The little games/apps that do exist are still techdemos or very very sparse.
>Sony tipped its hat too early (Why not wait until the PS5 and better tech? Doubt they will bother with that shit again, its basically the kinect/move/wii of this gen)
Simply i think it wasnt ready and wont be for some time, we are only just getting 4k 100fps+ with 7nm multi core cards (coming 2019) now (vega 7nm) and to be quite honest display tech still isnt there even if raw gpu gflops catch up, my 10gflop 1080 can barely handle 1080p depending on the games at 60fps+ Maybe the 1180 will be a 15glop card once oc'd but even then that will barely be enough for 4k 60hz going into 202x with massive textures and more complicated games

Attached: vrin2018.png (780x519, 359K)

which one? Is there any ghosting when moving around?

I didn't flop
Proof: Average user counts in VR-related subreddits are growing continuously

Attached: 1528361691501.jpg (725x968, 327K)

>getting ghosted by a VR grill

It didn't flop, but it didn't break through (yet) either:

1. too expensive, ~$1000+ entry costs + wide enough area aren't for everyone. Didn't help that we've had a graphics card cost increase (thanks, cryptofags)
2. "not yet good enough": it's close, but still too uncomfortable, still haven't fixed the "how to move without a vomit bucket" problem
3. shit games, for the most part, but that's the easiest one to fix

>wagglan
How to detect is someone is taking out of their ass in one simple step.

Ready Player One was so cringy it made everything VR related unappealing

You deserve trips for that truth.

Too fucken expensive

Sony are fucking idiots and thought that the ps3 boomerang was a good idea

>How to not respond to a honest post and be a faggot
Oh right what word can i pick out of your post to do the same back to you
O-oh right
>How to x
fuck off

It didn't flop but it can't take off like the Nintendo Switch did because of price of entry for an acceptable experience. Jow Forums needs to remember that not many households have a "gaymur" level of computer needed to even run something decent on top of needing to spend several hundred dollars more for a vr setup. This is like asking everyone to plop $100K to buy a sports car. Not many households can do this.

is this shit even worth pirating next month or so?

i think price is a big issue Jow Forums overlook especially those on this board who are either ignorant or oblivious to said cost
>1k+ for a decent headset
>still wired
>requires a $1500pc minimum with a $500+ gpu to get any decent picture quality and high enough fps
>almost every headset is its all walled garden bullshit especially vive/occulus with no real standards besides steamvr shovelware

>>almost every headset is its all walled garden bullshit especially vive/occulus with no real standards besides steamvr shovelware
This is really a big issue. A few years ago I thought all these headset would be just like monitors, everything is compatible with everything, but oh no, we ended up with DRM and frameworks and all that retarded shit. It's absolutely a clusterfuck.

Yes - further evidence being that they invested in the VR meme, which has flopped.

>vr
>streaming video
>mobile gaming
Sony are retards if they can't get any of those 3 right.

>walled garden bullshit especially vive

Out of the three major first gen headsets vive is the only that's *not* a walled garden

>It will grow a lot in the next few decades.
>decades
Taking decades basically means that VR failed to catch on once again

Damn right. You don't want to get one because it locks you out of so much of the other meme DRM frameworks so you sit around not buying any of them since they're all such a massive investment.

Underrated

>GPUs can barely withstand the current resolutions
That will always be true. When GPUs get better, we up the resolution.

and yet it still doesnt have any good games besides motion guesture shit
maybe gen 2+ will be better from what ive seen of gen 1 i think its gonna be a long time to mature considering we are almost 30 years deep into mainstream 3d games and the first time VR was launched back in the 80-90s it didnt do so well
Exactly, it makes free/gsync hdr10 crap look like nothing

blame xfire/sli dying and no multi core gpus on 7nm yet
Its coming back just not for consumer cards until dx12/vulkan adoption takes of DX11 is outdated trash but its optimised well for single core cards

xfire/sli dying is for a good reason. Alternate Frame Rendering was a pointless waste of GPU cycles.

>good games besides motion guesture shit

Outside cockpit games, motion tracking is a core part of vr. You sound like you haven't used it before.

Oh my god, this seems so fun, why do I have to be a poorfag who can't afford this :(

i dont want to use it for sim work i have real life for that its literally cheaper to go mod my car or buy another one for the 4k it would cost for a decent couple of headsets + games and a new gpu

Nigger there's nothing to respond to, you talk out of your ass. I just picked at wagglan because it's the most blatant tell tale - nevermind all the factually wrong points, but you wouldn't know if they're wrong unless you owned a VR headset and had any interest in this technology. To reiterate, you talk out of your ass. I don't need to argue with someone saying crap like the water is dry.

Milhouse is not a meme dude

>raging because im not buying immature low res gen0 shit
O-oh you sure showed me i am rekt as fuck mate thanks for beta testing CV1, pro and whatever shit they crap out until they get it right
>muh chatvr
is the only thing thatlooks half way interesting to me

Dude what game is this. I want it.

Needs a damn dataglove if you're gonna be motion tracking. They knew what it would take to control VR in the 80s.

So if you don't own VR and don't even want VR, why the fuck you think your statements on VR are worth a crap, let alone being seriously argued? You talk out of your ass and you admit taking out of your ass, and you still want anything beyond mockery in response? Get a grip, retard.

yeah she's hot

Gloves need to be fitted to people's hands and they make you sweat more than usual. Your hands are also empty when you pick something up. The Knuckles controllers are a better idea.

This thread clealy shows the divide that I'm predicting. In the neae future there's going to be people who love VR and those that refuse to try it and write it off as a cheap gimmick.

VR is here to stay. Honestly I feel VR could've been accomplished 10 years ago.

No you still dont get it mate
>So if you don't own VR and don't even want VR
I do want vr, just not sub 4k crap when 8k is out there, just waiting for new gpu multi core tech
>why the fuck you think your statements on VR are worth a crap
And what makes yours so much better? Youre buying old shit marketed to "pros" for slightly better resolution with all the same pitfalls maybe more
> let alone being seriously argued? You talk out of your ass and you admit taking out of your ass, and you still want anything beyond mockery in response? Get a grip, retard.
I mean from this point on your post is just BRAAAAPFFTTTTTTTTTPFPPTPPTPT

Attached: file.png (780x768, 226K)

Then theres the whole issue of poor erganomics, heavy headsets and poor controllers.
t. indian
atm it is a cheap overpriced gimmick tho there is NO killer applications besides sims which are stupid expensive to setup, you might as well just go fucking become a truck/race/whatever driver

A bunch of guys are developing a glove with mechanical feedback, so you can feel shit in VR. They also make full body suit like this, basically a reverse exoskeleton.

It turns out it's cheaper to actually do the activity in real life than in VR

I'm better because I don't make arbitrary unsubstantiated claims. Neither should you.

Because we own VR and know what its like. Its like ice cream, I can tell you its creamy and delicious and yadda yadda but you'll never know till you try it yourself.

I'm not the dude you're replying to and honestly don't care if you join now. By the time you eventually cross over we'd be already been honing our skills and dominating.

Metroid Prime VR alone was worth it for me.

WHOA!
W..what she is doing with her hand..?

Attached: lurp.png (652x518, 45K)

VR flopped because you have to put a fucking big ass thing on your face to use it.

So, Oculus or Vive?
Or maybe wait for the next generation?

Even cheapest race car gonna cost upwards of $8000. I'm taking the legends car here. Racing MX5 it's something like 50 grand, it'ss low end racing vehicle.

VR need microled 8K@120hz for work, but won’t happening until 2030+

roadtovr.com/exclusive-nvidia-research-reinventing-display-pipeline-future-vr-part-2/

I'm waiting for chinkmax 8k.

VIVE has the most support. Don't go for VIVE Pro

>Because we own VR and know what its like. Its like ice cream, I can tell you its creamy and delicious and yadda yadda but you'll never know till you try it yourself.
just because i dont eat my own/others cum doesnt mean i dont know what its like
Your logic is flawed sir
Anything NEW thats decent coming out with VR support ? Everyything ive seen so far thats anywhere near tripleA is x old game with vr tacked on, nothing built with actual VR in mind from the start, as i said the lack of a killer game really is my main reason for not jumping in, indieshit wont cut it.
Could you state spesifically whats arvitrary and so unsubstantiated you cant even be bothered to adress my points individually and lazily reply with shit tier comebacks ? Im waiting.
If you cant theres always whatever subreddit caters to your hilarious little niche to go back to i guess, pic related its u.

Attached: file.png (526x904, 530K)

Oh and of course, you gonna wreck it, and then you'll have to fork out some more cash for a new one.

youtube.com/watch?v=qwcHnG8EDTw This looks pretty cool is it active?
is 16k off the table with foveated rendering and a increased pixel density? Thats what im waiting for before i dip my toes in and it has to be a reasonable price, not this 1k+ gamur/pro bullshit, same with monitor tech atm its aids

But that's just it, you don't know what its like to ear cum since you haven't exactly experienced it. You sound like the type that's not adventurous. Nothing wrong with that but it probably takes you a long while for you to get anywhere.

because it hasn't?

>not building a shitbox vn-vy commodore in your backyard and local wreckers bogans shop for the lols
cars take alot longer to build then pc's, its labor and hour intensive but in the long run its cheaper than shelling out for new tech every couple of years, once you build a car its done

Attached: kinocar.jpg (2556x1712, 1.69M)

im talking about penis cum but anyway ill bite (ya dick bby ;3) I have experienced VR/3d and i got motion sickness because the resolution was so shit, if they had decent 4k sets now i could easily learn and get used to it but my problem is the headsets are still to bulky/no wireless and 8k+ is what the end game is.
Then onto the issue of low fov and tripping over cords (lol) surely they can work out some 15m wireless 4k streaming cheap soon its almost 2019 ffs

it didn't flop, it's just still early adopter / "enthusiast" pc gamer level tech

VR won't be mainstream until it's been around long enough for Apple to release VR sunglasses that are just :
>white ray-ban wayfarer (wireless)
>VR FaceTime is the only app
>normies hail it as revolutionary and magical

Attached: 26E52E1B-E94E-4B95-A99F-FE5666DA421F.jpg (1080x1871, 386K)

Well also car tech doesn't evolve as fast as computer tech.

Occulus Thrift doesn't cut it bro.

>car tech doesnt evolve as fast
yes it does there is new aftermarket shit constantly plus every 2 or so years there is a new model of some sort
God the autism on this board i regret staying up till 4am i think i got prime normie euroseppos here

>t. indian
What the fuck is that supposed to mean you fucking strawmanning infantile nigger. Use your fucking words to communucate, retard. The absolute state of western males """"defending"""" their shit tier """"women"""".

have facebook dumped it yet? God what a stupid fucking purchase, it was bad enough they overpriced it when it was meant to be $250usd by now

Oculus has better comfort and much better price/performance

This user gets it. Economies of scale will lower the entry barrier in time, you'll see cheaper solutions and more adoption. VR isn't going away.

I dunno, I liked it. great series

this post basically outlines exactly why VR will never catch on in normalized use anytime soon. The technology has to first become as least intrusive as possible.

It's expensive as fuck, makes you have to wear a cumbersome headset, and then there's basically nothing it does that really improves anything yet. It's just a neat thing to try out.

VR video games won't really be a thing until an entire movement treadmill system is available at a price point that anyone is going to want to pay for. I doubt this will ever happen in my lifetime, and not because the technology can't reach this as I'm sure it already has, but the economics of it is just going to take forever to get to.
