My MacBook Pro died, and I’m finally waking up to the possibility of switching to a Windows machine. I’m fucking sick and tired of Apple’s planned obsolescence and want the ability to upgrade.
I’m considering both the Hackintosh route, and just going full in windows
My major concern is how well I’ll get on with windows and I want to try out a laptop for cheap to test the waters and familiarize myself.
Looking for: Budget >$300 max for machine, better if $200 or under
Specs & factors >Laptop, relatively new, Used is OK >Quad Core >8 to 16 GB RAM >Decent graphics card >Upgradeable HD & RAM >USB 2 ports
I’ll be using it for: -Moderate Music Production -Light to moderate video editing -Daily Driving / Internet Use
Can you recommend me a few machines to look at that fit the price & performance?

I fully intend to drop more money into a proper machine shortly after, assuming I can get along with windows. So that’s not a concern so much. I’ll probably do a build of my own, and possibly get a decent laptop like a xps15 or some such, if I can deal with the windows environment. This is just a split test between MacOS / Windows.
On the Mac side, it’s either: -pimp out a 2012 Mac mini and ride it til the wheels fall off -Same, but with an iMac -get anally raped on a new machine that will be outmatched, and will have some fucked up design flaw just for an OS I like
So, help a fella out here? Surely, there’s a decent quad core out there I’m not aware of for $300ish used?
