Intel i7 8086K

Anybody else picked one of these up?

what did you have before you got this? not that it's a good deal if you just got this platform, i just want to know how much to laugh at you

It's just an overpriced 8700K that's been binned.

I just bought one literally 5 minutes ago, knowing that it's a overpriced 8700K. The thing is that it's no 8700K, cause it has the name 8086K so it's very special to me. :)

Best CPU on the planet. db8 me

It is though. Extreme OC performance is the same at 7250MHz with LN2.

No. I bought a 2700X last week though. Only £240 with the Ebay 20% off code.

Cost aside, it looks like you got a good processor OP. Hope it works well for you.

it’s just an overpriced 8700K that’s been binned

£60+ more for a 300MHz bump to stock clocks doesn't seem worth it to me. I guess it might retain its resale value a little better, though.

Why did you decide to buy it?

anandtech's review is interesting. At stock it actually performs worse than an 8700k in most tests, presumably because it can't turbo up quite as often. It does OC well, and it might make more sense to buy this than to buy from siliconlottery (but also might not, since that site will delid for you and still offer a 1-year warranty).

So... it’s just an overpriced 8700K that’s been binned. It still might be the right product for a select few.

As long as we are setting aside cost, why the fuck would you not buy into POWER9 or POWER10?

The only reason to buy this chip is for the nostalgia.

It would have been better if Intel released an i5 8088k. Same MHz but no hyperthreading. The 8088 is the chip in the original IBM PC, not the 8086 which was usually only found in 99% compatible clones of the day.

>being this much of a pedant
Stop. Get help.

>best cpu

Mate, it is literally just that. It's binned like the review samples many youtubers got.

Congratulations on buying a binned stock overclocked overpriced global warming generator

You still have to delid because it's still using that shitty TIM

Congrats on buying an overpriced 8700k that you still have to delid to prevent housefires.

Nice pick, goyim!

>Suffice to say, Intel made zero changes to the thermal interface on the Core i7-8086K. It is completely identical to the Core i7-8700K, using the same thermal goop as in previous generations of chips.
