STANDARDS are superior

What do you use any of those for user?

>insert
Press it accidentally to make my life harder.
>(shift +) delete
Delete files using a file manager. Rape it during boot to get to the boot device selector screen (or the bios, I don't remember).
>home
Jump to the beginning of a line in bash or the Jow Forums reply form.
>end
Same, except jump to the end of the line.
>page up
Don't use it.
>page down
Don't use it.

does it really fucking matter?

ill gladly use any that has, full size cursor keys and no need for fn to get home/insert/delete/pageup/pagedown, preference over the lelnovo on that pic
everything else is a fucking joke

After all these years, designers are still introducing new "innovative" layouts so apparently yes.

Nothing matters.

ASUS?

looks like dell, have one sitting next to me

If you're going to put multiple configurations from the same manufacturer this image would have to have like 20 times as many panels to be accurate

That's pretty good, they're laid out in a logical manner too.

>no numpad
They are all garbage, what's there to argue about.

Dell Vostro 3460.

I really like it.

Dell, Apple, Asus and Sony ones are actually superior to even desktop keyboards.

Autohotkey FTW
I've mapped my whole keyboard, so I can preass caps + o to end, caps + u to home, caps + ikjl for up, down, left, right and so on. Way better than any built-in shortcut

eeepc layout

Dunno, we need new standard for laptop keyboards.

i use at most 2 keyboards on a day to day basis
why the fuck are you so triggered about something so meaningless user

correct, model ux30

Of all the buttons on my keyboard, the only one I don't use is Insert.
Home or End, go to the top or bottom of a web page, or the start or end of a line of text.
Page up or page down: quickly scroll.
Delete: delete files, delete text in the opposite direction to backspace

Trash

It's their budget business line.

Number pads are horrible on laptops, you fucking cretin.

Fn + Arrows = best
I have this Acer with the Home, End, etc on a separate row on the right side and it fucks up the keyboard centering.

ThinkPad/Dell/Toshiba most useable compromise.

The rest is FUCKING CRAP.

of course it matters, and it matters a lot.

in a terminal you shift+ins to paste. on my 13.3" ACER that's now shift-fn-delete. the context menu key is missing and put as fn+ctrl. it's not like there isn't room for actual keys. I can't just hit a key from muscle memory, I have to pause and look at the keyboard and press a disaster of a combination to do something basic. It's fucking annoying.

this too, there's no good reason to have a different keyboard configuration on every single model.

cuz ur a piece of shit who uses laptops

>implying thinkpad isnt patrician layout
really nothing else can compare desu

>dont use it
oh no! its retarded

What if I told you I can trigger both of you?

Something that annoys the fuck out of me is that there are wide 17" laptops, with a tenkeyless keyboard and a full inch of space around the keyboard, that still do not have these keys in the right place. You have fucktons of free space you idiots, give me back my muscle memory, your design can afford it.

I must be completely braindead then because I don't use any of these. I find that I lift my hands off of their typing position so I might as well just use the mouse cursor.

It can be nice for browsing text files or the internet, it's what you prefer mostly.
I definitely use it more on laptops when I dont have an actual mouse.

I mainly use it when I want to scroll quickly but the program I'm using doesn't support the mouse.

>device selector screen (or the bios, I don't remember).
This is just as ambigious as keyboard layout
BIOS:
>lenovo
enter, f2
>hp
f10, older devices might be del or f2
>toshiba
f2, sometimes fn+f2 depending on keyboard
>sony
bwahahaha fuck you, hold the vaio key and power at the same time and pray you get to the bios
>acer
f2
>asus
sometimes del, sometimes f2
>samsung
f2
>microsoft
boot to winre with f11 then select bios option. or try your luck with volume up which never fucking works
>dell
f2, older devices might be del or esc

>but the program I'm using doesn't support the mouse.
What programs don't support a mouse?

The truly disgusting thing is when you encounter this fuckery on desktop keyboards.

Commandline
Imagine building a precious /mkg/ with that kind of retarded layout and of course blank keycaps because mui aesthetico.
Most 17's use exact same keyboards as 15' sister models. Maybe if they had fullsize keyboard they'd be somehow not useless and impractical.

>using legacy layouts
>Not programming the keys how (you) like them
You disappoint me, /,g/

Attached: nuh8kgdfdg211.png (2043x663, 152K)

Keyboard layouts are like genders.
There are two and if you keep finding more, you're a fag.

>Different size/form keys, so you don't get confused and scared
How does it feel being mentally handicapped?

I have an AutoHotKey script that gives me cursor movement on home and upper rows by holding CapsLock. Fuck needing to move my hand for that cursor movement.
