The amp is good, the DAC is outdated.

Build quality could be better. HD600 even have better build.

I put them on once in a while, half for nostalgia reasons, half because I have a lot of friends who own HD598 and sometimes I just want to know what this or that song sounds like for them.
They excel at chihaya's aoi tori for some reason, but they fall apart when there's a lot going on at the same time, such as in nemurihime.

L300LE + sr-252, sell your schiit stack + hd600. it will be lighter to travel with, you get an overall sonic upgrade, and you'd be getting great value for the dollar. if you still want to go up the estat ladder you can do that when you live in japan, that sound like a good compromise?

its amazing that people think it doesn't take anything to make an electrostatic headphone, when so many companies have tried and failed. stax are really not making a lot of money for what they do, which is why they went bankrupt in the first place.

Haven't heard the HD330, but I was immediately not a fan of the evo. IMO overpowering muddy bass, and crap mids and highs. It's one of those things that's good for the price because they are dirt cheap, but anything else is better.
