Is it true that the msr7's brightness is fatiguing? I can't decide whether to get them or the Sennheiser Momentum 2 (HD1) instead, which I've heard is warmer. I currently have an old pair of m50's, and I'm afraid I'll end up disliking the msr7's because of their signature (they would be a big change from the m50's supposed v-shape).

There's a couple of companies that make custom tips for CA, and if you contact CA directly, they will make them for you (as long as you provide $$$ and molds). They're prepping to offer it as a service, but they do it on request now. Otherwise, Snugs in the UK and a couple other companies, both abroad and domestic, do tips for the CA Aluminum shells.

Is the pro82 still the hot new closed portable phone? I wouldn't mind paying more for something that sounds as good, but is better built.

HD600 is the one to get. See reviews comparing it with HD650(or 6xx same thing).
As for the HD660S, it's shit value at its price, and many reviewers actually prefer HD600's sound over it.

you are going to buy an amp/dac for your hd660 which will put it at a new stax setup anyways. everyone does. you can also get a used stax setup for $500-600.
