Now that Comptex 2018 is over it's time to talk about the new products and trends shown there. I realize Jow Forums is all about shilling and shitposting but actual tech industry news deserves a mention from time to time and Comptex is the worlds most important technology event. Let's talk about the news, trends and highlights from this event.

Several new DDR4 memory kits with LEDs were shown this year, including lesser-known brands like Anaconda.

intel is also helping push the rgb fan market forward

nvidia did not release any new products and Jensen confirmed that new GPUs were "far away" and won't be announced for "some time".

Racing themed computers seem to be a continuing trend this year as illustrated by this gaming PC from Biostar. It's even got wheel(s). Kind of odd that racing chairs/computers/things are pushed so hard given that there's just about zero actually worthwhile racing-games.

The matebook D looks pretty good depending on reviews I'll probably buy one.

it looks quite good but I'm not sure performance is all that it should be, it'll probably throttle given how thin it is. they did a few things right but following the utterly dumb and meaningless "thin as possible" trend was likely a mistake.

don't get why it's a stupid trend? look at a laptop, any laptop. notice how that shit is like 30cm wide and 20cm deep because it's got a 14" or 15.5" screen? you ain't putting that shit in your pocket no matter how thin you make it, doesn't matter if it's 2cm or 0.2cm tall - you need a bag or a backpack or something like that. keeping weight down does make sense, shaving off 0.5 or 1cm for the sake of making it "thin" is just stupid.

Holy shit that woman is tiny

The high DRAM prices makes it a very attractive market and the server segment is specially profitable. Monitor maker V-Color branched off into the server RAM market a few years ago and used Comptex to showcase their latest server-DRAM offerings.

>following the utterly dumb and meaningless "thin as possible" trend was likely a mistake.
making stuff thinner was fucking great when it took us from 45mm thick laptops to 20mm thick laptops

but now it's just getting silly as they're sacrificing strength to shave off that next millimetre

How much money do those booth girls make?

evokes a weird mix of sexy, qt and "am i watching disney child porn" all at once

I got an anaconda for her alright

>if you know what I mean

Never knew how much I needed this until Linus-Shill-Tips talked about it. Holy fuck, why has this only become a thing now?

ADATA had some cute-looking robots on display this year.

Attached: mpv-shot0001.jpg (3840x2160, 870K)

Another look at the ADATA robots

Probably not that much, these are girls who do all kinds of shows and commercials all the time. Their agencies have books with pages and pages and pages of models who do this kind of thing.

I suspect you would enjoy this thing called kpop. You should look into it.

Attached: mpv-shot0003.jpg (3840x2160, 892K)

I always question how many times they had to do this dance. Once every hour? Maybe every 30 minutes? Or maybe it was only necessary when a large camera crew stops at the booth?

Attached: 1448539317266.jpg (1280x720, 89K)

they usually only do one pre-announced promotion "event" with dancing and announcers so if you miss it then you've missed it. the models mostly just stand around next to things.

Attached: mpv-shot0004.jpg (3840x2160, 958K)

Ducky showed off their new flagship keyboard Shine 7. This keyboard has a USB C connector and no longer has the cable channel common to earlier models like the duck duck shine 5.

I've always found this shit so fucking weird, the whole "booth babes" thing. Like I understand it, sex sells and when you have a mostly-male audience, putting attractive girls next to your shit makes it sell.

But it still just seems... weird. Just how they used to have booth babes at E3, at like every car show, Computex, everything. These girls (almost certainly) don't know anything about what they're advertising, don't even begin to give a shit about it, and probably would rather not talk to the average expo-goer.

year of the dogg

InWin took a major step backwards this year.
In 2017, the bamboo and wood aesthetic really gave them a unique look and made them standout amongst the rgb/tempered-glass fad that was popular at the time. This year they completely dropped the clean and mature look they were aiming for last year, and fully embraced everything that is tempered-glass boxes and metal spirals.

on the topic of cases, the new Crystal case from darkFlash looks rather interesting.

Attached: darkflash-computex-case-rgb-fans-720p.webm (1280x720, 2.72M)

little-known outside Taiwan PC, tablet, motherboard and headphone maker Elitegroup Computer Systems showed off some - in my opinion - good-looking headphones. They were also offering visitors of their booth free beer.

Attached: elitegroup-computer-systems.webm (1280x720, 2.75M)

you don't need that unless your case is shit and that cable management bar won't fit your case if it is. I get the idea but bundling it with a PSU seems like a dumb way of bringing costs up in order to include something the vast majority of PSU buyers won't be able to use anyway. if some case manufacturer decides to include a "cover" like that for the cable management area then fine. selling it separately when there's no standard like atx or matx for it is just dumb.

From my understanding they plan to sell it as a bundle with power supplies, but also as a separate item. Linus from LTT said they plan to make various sizes for ITX, ATX, and MATX, when he covered the item on his podcast.

Why aren't feminist tards yelling at this?

Can I buy one, or were these demonstration only?

It’s in Taiwan

Because they are lazy and fat and shouting about something that doesn't happen at home won't gain them any political power/ reparations/ sense of accomplishment.

Post more cute azn

perhaps they are simply unaware of it. fat ugly stupid feminists have demonstrated how they love to put successful beautiful women out of work to "empower them" (somehow).
and also this,

Concepts they wanted to bring to life based on feedback. The case was called the 806, the possible next in line after the 805. The Cube-A1 was an ITX wood themed case also on display that year. The Cube-A1 is now up for sale, but with the wooded accents were replaced with boring plastic. It's likely that the 806 will also suffer the same fate.

those girls are lovely

you do have a point

Asian women are gross...

I don't know if they all go out of work. Last expo I went to in London recently was an IT expo, fairly business like, but each booth still had girls there. Just no one was showing skin. They were still pretty but totally ignorant of the wares they're peddling.

I like the face of the right and the body of the left.

Add fisheye lenses to that camera, hire some black male cast, e.g. , you are now Greg Lansky.

Only the girl who has meatballs on her head is cute.

She's holding an oversized cardboard cutout, not the actual RAM module.

not shit sherlock

meanwhile /csg/ 's favorite cheap-o SSD brand Kingdian showed of their.. SSDs.

Yes... that's a very interesting case...

that's the same philosophy as the women buying most phones though.

thin is best, flat is justice

speaking of cases,
inwin went from this
to video related. not sure that's a .. good move

btw Jow Forums admits, f u for not allowing VP9.

I love Ubuntu now !

This. It makes tech enthusiasts look even more like virgin manchildren.

Because barely anyone outside of the west gives a shit about feminism

Mmmm, booth babes. Booth babes, everywhere.

Paramount called. They want their logo back.

mmm, plastic chinks with a voice that would make me deaf, mmm

Kek

High-definition audio player maker Colorful moved on to tablets and later graphics cards and - like everyone else - system memory. They showed off quite a few good-looking .. products.

>plastic
It's interesting to think about how computex is a technology show with AI and robots and the future of .. one particular obvious branch of this technology. We're not that many years from booth babes being androids you can buy - not just women showing off products..

Attached: COMPUTEX_TAIPEI_2018_COLORFUL_001.webm (1280x720, 2.58M)

some more Colorful.. product showcase

Attached: COMPUTEX_TAIPEI_2018_COLORFUL_002.webm (1280x720, 2.49M)

>dat lack of trigger discipline
no thanks

I too find the lack of trigger discipline disturbing. Colorful did show off some good-looking RGB memory modules later that day.

Attached: COMPUTEX_TAIPEI_2018_COLORFUL_memory-01.webm (1280x720, 2.93M)

I bet she was crying inside.

it's like an idolfest... but for technology. i really don't know how to feel about this

Attached: 1528831139916.jpg (600x450, 27K)

Gigabyte had some interesting.. something going on

Attached: dandanhsuan_18879744_1715980158700663_7133873621331607552_n.jpg (960x1200, 111K)

Apparently a pervy Jow Forumsentleman was at Comptex.

While I also felt it was weird as one point, I now feel these booth babes have become somewhat of a buffer-zone between these events being a show-and-tell for new products vs vendors simply trying to sell me on new shit. Even if the girls have little or no knowledge on the products, they often provide entertainment and overall create a pleasant mood.

...

>that beta hoverhand

>I suspect you would enjoy this thing called kpop. You should look into it.
kpop girls are way better than that. They've mastered the erotic art of synchronization. It's amazing how hot it is

Watching a group of attractive girls, start their routine with cute hand gestures only to see them grinding on the ground in complete unison a few seconds later, is the best.

>we could change how motherboards and cases are laid out so we can have shorter cable paths

no you idiot, just make more shit they have to buy!
