Google is rolling out YouTube Music to many countries, it will soon replace Google Play Music and it's absolute shit
>can't play in background or with screen turnt off in free version, something even Spotify does for free
>always plays music video in highest resolution, draining battery
>YouTube and YouTube Music are seperate, but the playlist you create on both sites show up on both, i.e. your videos playlists clutter the Music app and the other way around
>shit navigation, only trending and a dozen "curated" playlists
>most songs still have shit standard YouTube audio quality and I don't see any option for higher quality even for the premium version
>no trace of own songs uploaded to Google Play Music
seriously see the mess for yourself, if this trash becomes successful it's the beginning of the end
YouTube Music is hot garbage

Newpipe
I know
But I'm worried they will go against apps like this in the future
And do what against them exactly?
I could imagine they would simply disable the audio only API
I was under the impression that newpipe used no google APIs.
Seems as though I might go back to the days of having the actual mp3s on my phone
Don't worry.
Anything that can be played in browser can be forced to be played in dedicated app. Anything played on device can be saved.
At worst case you would need to download this app from Aptoide because it would be banned by Google everywhere else.
>2018
>google
You are correct. Newpipe scrapes from the website.
just pirate
Why would you pay for horribly compressed music from youtube?
Listen to these niggas, boys.
Streaming is for faggots anyway.
>YouTube is hot garbage
The whole google ecosystem is doa, especially since they have started hiring to fill skin colour/gender quotas and not actuall skill/talent.
youtu.be
Can't wait to pay to listen to this high quality track with my screen turned off
>with my screen turned off
That would be $9.99 + tip sir.
I'm real loving it so far
It's great if done right
Though literally everything is better than YouTube Music you might as well use your old Walkman again it would have better audio quality lmao
btw you can start a 3 month trial then instantly cancel it so you can have them completely free
I'm noticing that you can't even save music to your SD card
Fucking great
but it was still worth it
now I can listen to my favourite nightcore with my screen turned off
You could've just used youtube vanced user
>you can start a 3 month trial then instantly cancel it so you can have them completely free
Elaborate
>using anything other than Apple Music if you wish to stream shit
yeah after the three moths NewPipe will fulfill my needs again
you start the trial and then canel it in the settings, you can still use it for the full three months then it expires and you pay nothing
that's how I tried out every streaming surface under the sun
*streaming service
Gboard botnet is on a roll again today
I can also confirm that the audio quality on premium is exactly the same, even on the official ones.
Now for comparison
>Spotify Premium - 320kbps ogg Vorbis
>Apple Music - 256kbps AAC
>YouTube Music Premium - 128kbps m4a
with that it's behind the free version of Spotify which has 128kbps but in Vorbis
>it will soon replace Google Play Music
F U C K
I uploaded 2TB of music because I didn't want to have that shit locally. I now have to download it and get a new drive.
Google said that they will shut down GPM only when all features are carried over to YouTube Music, so there's still hope
But so far I see absolutely no trace of that in the YouTube Music app or website
>it will soon replace Google Play Music
wait, really? what the actual fuck, can I refund those 2 albums I bought from there?
you wish lmao
though you can download them as MP3s if you bought them
In shitty quality, right.
320kbps, more than you will ever get from YouTube Music!
>streamfags on suicide watch while i've curated my own personal library for over a decade now and have it wherever I go internet or not
Well, thanks to torrents I still have time to do this. It never was really about streaming anyways, more so about easy synchronization.
>YouTube Music Premium - 128kbps m4a
Seriously? So you get a better audio quality by listing to regular YT vids with 128kbps Opus?
>Using g apps
yes, when I open the same tracks as regular YouTube videos it sounds better
they could do things like make the higher quality audio track only available through some DRM-ridden app instead of forcing youtube music to use lower quality than what you get in the browser like they do now for some reason.
I tend do download everything I like with youtube-dl and I have seen a lot of songs I like be taken down. Things like covers by less-known artists tend to be taken down even though they are little like the original, as one example.
