Can someone with a degree in Information systems get the same job as someone with a CS degree? I'm a CS major and I'm asking cause I've literally seen CIS majors get CS intenships.

Companies care a lot more about your skin color and gender than your degree

You might as well be in gender studies and get an internship
I'm a comp engineering major and got a cs internship.
As long as you're a decent candidate on paper, you'll land it

connections will get you almost any job

How about the technical interviews though? In your opinion, did your classes in CompE help you prepare for it?

This shit fucking sucks, I should've just done a fucking trade or something instead of wasting my time.

>tfw didn't even have a whiteboard problem at my current 80k a year job

No one gives a shit. I've got a degree in English, and have been a Dev for over a decade. It's more about what you've done, not what you pretend to know.

What do you do? Do you have a degree?

Whiteboards and code tests are for newbs. If you've got enough experience, they stop pulling that shit.

So basically what you're saying is I should just kill myself?

Fuck off with that bullshit.

t. Unemployed hispanic in the Bay Area

What's your degree in? Any internship experience?

>hispanic

Basically White along with Asian.

no, what he is saying is learn real skills, apply them making demos, tests, etc post them in github and show the world you are more than a piece of paper

The only projects I've done are some coding on video games. Would that be good to put on a github account or would employers just see that as autistic?

>just as poor as blacks
>constantly deported
??????

>>constantly deported
>implying all Hispanics are illegals

>>>/tumblr/ is that way landwhale

I was considering doing the same for a bit OP, but everywhere I searched people said to just stick with the CS degree.

then just upload your demo in a personal page or blog. It's not hard showing your skills and personal projects, the hard part is having something to show
