tomshardware.com/news/samsung-400-million-finfet-lawsuit,37319.html >Samsung Electronics Co. is facing a hefty penalty for improper use of a FinFET technology patent. According to Bloomberg, a federal jury in Texas on Friday said that the South Korean electronics company infringed a US patent owned by the licensing arm of Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). >Qualcomm and GlobalFoundries joined Samsung to defend the use of the FinFET technology. GlobalFoundries also manufactures chips with FinFET technology and Qualcomm is a customer of both companies. The jury found them both guilty. However, Qualcomm and GlobalFoundries were not ordered to pay any damages to KAIST. >Samsung disagrees with the jury’s judgment, and it maintains that it did not infringe KAIST’s patents because it helped develop the technology with the university
I understand that developing and researching a technology cost's money and all but doesn't all this patenting hinder technological development? Like you can't even use or improve technology until the patents up missing out on years of further development Are the jews holding us back?
It's almost like capitalism isn't a system built for innovation and improvement but just barely staying ahead of the other guy so you make more money and shut them out.

>Like you can't even use or improve technology until the patents up missing out on years of further development Are the jews holding us back? You can use it, you just need to reach an agreement with the patent holder so they will receive some compensation from the billions of dollars made by using it.
Jace Evans
I agree with you op, taxes, patents, regulations, and copyrights all must be removed before the real golden age can start

>It's almost like capitalism >Patents >capitalism.

(((Patents))), (((copyright))) and (((intellectual property))) are all jewish totalitarian inventions that do nothing but stagnate development, ban competition and enforce monopolies. Of course it hinders technological development. It should be removed, but rich companies benefit from it because it lets them stay more relevant and since the US is a corporative and not a capitalist country all politicians are basically bought.
Daniel Allen
This, the US has fucked us all over by inventing patents and copyrights and other jewish tricks.

Yes. How do you think people got shit done before currency? How were things invented before patents? People who won't work without getting something extra in return, something beyond a job well done, plant that same sentiment in the heads of others. "Why work for free?" Because the job needs to get done, period.
Not everybody needs a voucher to control others others in order to work.
Patents are a result of capitalists seeking rent on ideas.
Jason Gomez
The original idea wasn't so bad, document how your invention works for a short period of exclusivity. Problem is modern patents are gibberish no one can understand and they grant an unlimited monopoly with no limitation on how much can be demanded for licensing. The system has failed so badly destroying it is probably the only solution now, though it will have a negative impact on many.
Andrew Morris
The guy who filed the patent is being listed as an Inventor on patents filed by Samsung within two months of the FinFET patent being filed.
Something tells me the patent transferred to the University for whatever reason when Samsung picked up the guy, then the lawyers were going back through their patents and found there was something they could make some bank off, if they went to the right court.
Austin Cook
Two of these are not like the others

>Not everybody needs a voucher to control others others in order to work. Imagine if cavemen decided to patent fire. The thought of it is hilarious.
Sebastian Perry
>then the lawyers were going back through their patents and found there was something they could make some bank off, if they went to the right court. That's what it looks like. Just Jews bein Jews for nothing more than filling their pockets. >Samsung said that it was “disappointed by the verdict.” It also said that it “will consider options to obtain an outcome that is reasonable, including an appeal.” Funny, I actually feel sorry for these monopolies.
