I assume he means he wants access to a product of this type within the economy of scale. That is a very valid concern. A custom, unique phone that meets all of his requirements but costs $500,000 is not a viable option in almost every case.

I would like to see some products emerge that move away from web-based mucking about and only provide a few modes of communication - voice, text, email, GPS, file transfer - then focus on privacy and security. Personal data recording - images, audio (including phone conversations), biometrics, location, environment (temp, humidity, etc.) - all securely stored in an encrypted filesystem.

I'm on the blackberry priv and its still good enough for me. I don't play games on my phone or anything so really specs aren't a major concern for me. The only thing that sucks about it is the battery life but so long as you're not on it all day it will last long enough.
