This thread is about the appreciation of beads, Rolex and Tudor watches, as well as the micro-engineering and materials engineering that are required to make a fine bead bracelet, Tudor or Rolex watch, clock, or other timepiece.
To the guy that wrote about being stressed out about vulnerability of domed watches: Got this for about 38 €, dome is plastic, i wore it for a month now, no scratches yet. You will stop worrying about it at some point. No matter how careful you are, it will get scratched. Even rubbing against a jacket, when you wear it above the watch. The scratches are a part of the watch.
no its not. $67 for $3 of titanium and a quartz movement
Lucas Hall
titanium doesn't cost 3 bucks you dumbfag
Kayden Green
Just saiyan it's an unusual material choice for a budget watch
Parker Robinson
Plus with an acrylic crystal you can easily buff out any scratches with Polywatch.
Benjamin Russell
I work in the industry selling it to the chinks who pump those out but sure, tell me more.
Hudson Myers
Do all titanium watches scratch up?
Kayden Smith
because the watch industry is one of the jewiest out there and they like their 10000% margins off retards paying for fuck all but a few hours of labour on top of cents in material costs
Evan Young
I dont like the style of the dial. Found one that i like more and for about 60€ its not bad. Also 37mm dial. it will look good.
True, also tought about it, but kinda scared to fuck it up. Oh well, guess ill have no choice, once the time comes to buff the scratches out.
Probably depends on the price of the watch. My dad has a titanium citizen as a DD and it has very little scratches. Boccia seems to have nice quality, the reviews seem to be overall positive. Go for it, you cant go very wrong for 60€/punds
My ocd probably couldn't tolerate it. I like features that are grounded in practicality. In that sense domed crystals are a design flaw.
Owen Robinson
you can give me $1000000/kg for titanium and it will still be titanium with a lower hardness than steel you fuckwit
Levi Mitchell
Acrylic crystals are practical. They have the least glare of any crystal type and thus aid legibility. In Vostok's they also contribute to the water resistance.
Yes. Titanium has lower scratch resistance than the types of stainless steel typically used for watches. Conversely the titanium is about twice as strong as the types of steel typically used to make watches.
Adam Gonzalez
This is correct. Titanium is lighter and stronger but will scratch easier.

>The 8Rxx is a modular design That makes a lot of sense and diminishes the 8R significantly for me. I kind of want to pick up the SBDS001 as well now. Unfortunately the only one for sale that I'm aware of is the 300 pieces limited edition type that has different colours. There's something desirable about a watch that was the first and last of its kind with a purpose made movement, none of that module stuff.
Sinn makes some watches in tegimented titanium and citizen makes "super titanium". Both are treated to be more scratch resistant (Citizen claims that its titanium is 5 times tougher) Grade 2 Ti is just pure titanium, it will scratch easily and it is cheap. Grade 5 Titanium is actually the most common industrial and it is more scratch resistant; with oxydation, it "self-heals"
I am wondering, are there any good vostok movements for the komandirskie or amphibia model? If they are cheap, even better, as well as possibly vintage. Thank you.
Connor Jackson
What's wrong with the movement they come with?
Parker Adams
From what i heard, most vostok movement were pretty bad. Thus i was wondering what model and movement would be best, if there are any good ones.
>That makes a lot of sense and diminishes the 8R significantly for me. Well, I'm not sure that it's modularity per se should be seen as such a knock against it, especially with the 8R49, which has the escapement from a 9S and will thus outperform a 6S in every way.
It all depends on what you value. For me, if I was serious about needing to use the chronograph regularly I would go with the 8R every time because the vertical clutch means I wouldn't have to worry about wear from using the chronograph like you can get on the horizontal coupling of the 6S.
If you're the poster I think you are, You've apparently changed your opinion re 8r39 vs 6s37. IIrc when I first had to choose between the two you suggested that the 6s kept better time but the 8r was a better chrono.
How is the accuracy of the skx007? Does it hack and handwind? I read it doesn't. Also, I've heard the chapter ring oftentimes isn't properly aligned with the hour indices, how big is the risk this is the case?
Blake Cook
>120 usd Tudor Heritage Black Bay.
Andrew Peterson
What do you mean? Also, this is the coolest watch design I've seen in a long time, I really like it. Too bad it's just a one person's personal modded watch.
It is sweet looking and I just became aware there's an identical version for wristlets the snzf29
Jackson Peterson
Automatic mechanical that doesn't hack and hand wind, isn't that annoying?
Henry Jackson
I may not have realized then that the 8R39 has a 9S escapement and that makes it a much better timekeeper than any other 8R variant, because the rest of the variants have 6R escapements.
Thomas Howard
Artifice Horoworks would be able to replicate that custom, for a price.
Fake Tudorfag has had a stick up his ass in these threads for a long time now. He hounds them constantly so he can be the first to make a new thread with his bead crap in the OP.
Maybe there are more than him doing stuff like that, you don't know that. Besides, I don't have the impression that beads guy wants to fuck up our thread. I think beads guy just think it's a fun meme and that he's pushing it.
Noah Miller
somebody please off OP. fake watches + beads are you kidding that is the most indian thing I've ever seen
>get used, scratched skx, or just the dial >buy snk model >swap skx dial in, swap aftermarket hands
I'd swap the glass with a domed one. You dont even need special tools, becides a glass press. I swappe watchhands before, with only some razorblades and a piece of plastic, to protect the dial, and tweezers of course.
> I swappe watchhands before, with only some razorblades and a piece of plastic You brag but I would never get someone with a razorblade and a piece of plastic to swap watchhands
Carson Williams
If I buy a speedy will I be able to run fast as lightning then?
Nathan Davis
>pastebin.com/raw/cJ6KzpY2 uhh, what's the frankenstein'd watch user is referring to here? something doesn't really add up
Ryder Roberts
Good job Pajeet.
Luis Perry
Is the bracelet decent?
Blake Turner
The SeaGull Unitas 6497-2 clones (pic related)are the best for finishing/price ratio.
It looks surprisingly nice Irl, and plays with the light better than you would expect. But the gold color is just some kinda coating, and it's only on the front, and beginning to brush off. It feels great in the summer hear compared to all my other watches too.
