So, they had more supply than demand, yet, Nvidia cards (besides founders editions) have consistently been above MSRP everywhere. They could have slashed prices by 20% and sold all the stock and completely dominated market share, unless of course they were trying to gouge consumers and OEMs. How did they think they were going to satisfy gamer demand with overpriced cards?

All of this is worthless when vulkan exists allowing the cpu to be freed up from having to compile to gpu and letting the gpu do the work. Also no screen tearing
