Because the tech industry is slowly being cucked by ego driven sjw's that are less tolerant than any man I know. The game industry has already suffered from this. It's when more attention is paid to other things rather than what these companies are there to do, is when quality control issues will start to present themselves. Just look at the state of EA and Ubisoft. It may seem Intel is on a similar path of fucking themselves.

Having a relationship with somebody under your authority in an organization creates a massive legal liability (e.g., over promotions, project funding, other conflicts of interest, etc.) if people find out. There's a reason that you don't mix business and pleasure.

I saw their "diversity initiatives" but it seems they got pressured to do them by all these "journalists" making bad press.

You see it all started with an article on Gama Sutra titled "Gamers are dead" from witch intel pulled their adds because they live off gamers.
This of course resulted in other outlets like Gawker network to blame them for supporting gamergate and then they needed to do damage control.

They then started funding diversity and shit like FemFreq because they are afraid of bad press.

Executives honestly get away with this shit all the time. I've worked in 3 large publicly traded corporations, and you would not believe what kind of awesome positions some dumb bitch a year or two out of uni can get just because some high-ranking chief officer chose her as his toy. But as long as those executives are still doing their job, the (largely institutional) shareholders don't raise a ruckus, and nobody will ever seek to rock the boat and get rid of them. It's only when things go south that this kind of issue rears its ugly head.
