Why aren't you using KDE right now?

why aren't you using KDE right now?

I used to use it and I still love it, I just prefer using i3wm.

I am using it. It's not perfect but at least it's not GNOME.

Because GNOME doesn't crash every 10 minutes.

Cinnamon is 10x more comfy

Because desktop environments are inefficient and bloated.

Attached: 6micm2q61wt01.jpg (1280x902, 116K)

How did you post this from the terminal?

5.13 not out for my distro yet, hurry the fuck up fedorafags

Desktop environment != Graphical Interface

What gay ass fucking Apple iPhone interface do you use then? I3 fag ricing?

But I am.

Attached: Screenshot_20180622_023841.png (1366x768, 687K)

Funny, I just finished uninstalling it.

because this garbage keeps crashing

Attached: file.png (413x91, 23K)

Because DEs are for retards.

I like some of the stuff KDE does in a philosophical sense; they work a lot towards compatibility with others, especially compared to Gnome.
However, their software is buggy bloated sepples garbage.

he said DE. he still could use WM

Because I mainly use Solus.

Attached: Solus.png (480x480, 30K)

Solus has KDE as an optional DE
t. Solus user

it does for me tho :/

Because I'm using Windows 10 Enterprise

> 1.6GHz Atom N270 Processor.
> 1GB DDR2 SDRAM.

Couldn't even try.

>tfw have KDE, gnome and i3 on my system

Get on my level fags, my computer serves me not the other way around.

Just rice it properly. It is much faster than gnome.

But I am.

Don't wanna get used to it, when I'm already used to GNOME

>floating windows
Kill yourself

I like my cinnamon better. Simple, cutting edge, and fast.

Tiling is for autists. Prime example: (You)

My PC can only handle Gnome

Attached: proxy.duckduckgo.com.jpg (367x311, 41K)

There's a tiling script right into the settings

desktop linux is for retards

KDE 1 was updated and can be compiled on most modern distros if you're using a toaster.

KDE has destroyed more of my data than Win 9x / XP / Vista combined

>using a DE

> using window tiling cancer

This. Tiling window managers give me ass cancer. I fucking hate those things so fucking much. "Muh minimalism" means no mouse use and no window borders. They're the most unintuitive horse shit I've ever used. I don't want to control my whole PC with a keyboard. These tiling WMs also make singletasking really hard. Maybe I want windows to overlap. REEEEEEEEE

Attached: 6djpd0-rlznov8otwzy.jpg (512x498, 107K)

Some people take minimalism WAY TOO FAR

and its not like you can't tile 2 or 4 windows together on a normal DE

On Kubuntu I can Super + arrow to manage it, no need for a tiling manager

This. Window tiling already exists in most DEs

Not him but you don’t even know what a DE is, you’re in no position to talk down to someone.

Because I am using i3wm

>using cancer

not him but technically a desktop environnement is everything you can use to interact with your computer, you can use only terminal emulator as your desktop environnement if you want.
peoples here tend to distinct DE/WM (Windows Manager), but a WM is only a part of a DE, you can't say you only use WM and not a DE, technically you're using a WM as your DE

I do. It's great.

Tbh I never noticed the difference between the different DEs.

bloat

Because I use gentoo and would have to emerge the whole thing and I don't have that kind of time.

Terrible UI design and controls. They really should hire an actual UI designer or get rid of their current one.

Resize taskbar
>right-click taskbar -> Panel options -> Panel settings
>Click and HOLD the height button then move your mouse up or down to resize

What kind of design is that?
Here's another one:

Resize or move a widget
>Click and hold left mouse button on the widget
>Move mouse to upper right corner
>click and drag to resize

I'm working on a computer, not a touchscreen device. Who thought that this is a good idea? Even their default start menu is awful. You have to dig through numerous animated menus just to pick the program you want. Even the start menu for Windows 95 is faster and bettern than this.

Works good for laptops
There are more points to it than that

why is opensuse the only distro patching firefox?
why did gecko (based off it) remove that feature?

Because KDE doesn't fix bugs.

The bug is upstream's fault.
It's a bug in nvidia drivers.
The bug doesn't exist.
Fix it yourself.
"People who do, decide", and they decided it's a feature.
How dare you criticize something you got for free.
Fuck you for reporting a bug.

Literally used one of those as my only computer for an entire year
Absolute suffering.
On the other hand it played 480p anime pretty well with mplayer2 (this was before mpv was a thing)

Yeah GNOME just breaks without crashing every 10 minutes instead.

Sluggish and bloated. Also ugly.

Not to mention the memory leak they have currently

>not upgraded to 5.13

Attached: Screenshot_20180622_153352.png (2560x1440, 2.09M)

You're literally showing no new features except a wallpaper.

Are you expecting people to judge the whole DE on the fucking background image and a tiny taskbar that hasn't changed in a millenia?

sluggish? As Compared to what?

Gnome uses at least 2x more memory.
KDE uses only little more than XFCE and has so many more features

Yeah it doesn't say much. I like it cause it just werks in a lot of ways and is easily configurable.

What are those points?

>arch/manjaro repos haven't pushed 5.13
wtf. anyhow, it's decent. it's still ugly and I don't like having to use GTK for my web browser but that's not the fault of plasma/KDE. I don't like the start menu widgets but this one seems to work the best as I just hit $mod and start typing for what application I want.

I wish KDE neon wasn't an ubuntu LTS bastardization. every rolling-release distro I've used with KDE has varying levels of integration, and if I'm going to use a DE I would prefer it work well out of the box (that's what a DE is for)

Attached: Screenshot_20180622_154342.png (1280x800, 218K)

because I know how to use Gaana lenoox correctly so the only I need is openbox and a terminal emulator.

I've been on 5.13 for several days. What repos you using?

manjaro is like an inferior gf you have only because you can fuck her and reminds your ex gf the one you couldn't even kiss.

Manjaro is like a fucking toyota painted to make it look like a BMW

>manjaro
there is your problem

Because I tried Kubuntu and it fucking sucked. It was ugly and buggy. Linux Mint Cinnamon is comfy af. The only bad thing about Linux Mint is that it takes 60 seconds or more to shut down while it only takes 10 seconds to boot...I dont know why, but I heard that this problem also happens to other distros like Arch

>Resize taskbar
That's not important. It's something you do once and I for one think it's fine. I mean, I got it the first time and had no trouble configuring it the way I wanted.

>Resize or move a widget
Yeah, KDE has some shit functionalities. Like stuff that somebody wanted to add but it seems like they gave up halfway through. Like Activities. Or desktops overview. But yeah, don't use broken stuff. And don't use start menu, KRunner is actually pretty nice (at least the basic bits of it that do work). I'm noticing more and more broken bits in KDE and considering a different DE.

i am

But I am

Attached: file.png (1600x900, 198K)

isn't that a kde4? Try plasma5 instead

Why aren't you using xfce? What's the point of these stupid ass threads? Some people like some things, others like other shit. Sage

kevin detected

Because the buttons look like shit.
Same with FootDE

There are certain little usability quirks that irk me.

Dolphin, for example, is equal parts fantastic and shit. It absolutely shits itself on MTP transfers--I've lost data before because of how janky it is. It's strange, given how much KDE prides itself on mobile integration and shit.

I bet you never booted KDE Neon.

It does? I can find the package. Pls help. What is the eopkg package? I tried before and only found KDE library stuff.

KDE Neon was still on Xenial last time I checked

At least KDE has a proper crash handler unlike the tablet ui GNOME 3 is. Also what do you mean lost data because of a KDE crash? Why didn't you just liveboot and copy your data to a external drive?
Are you a certain kind of stupid?

Also have you tried Neon recently? I bet no.

Have you tried using a theme? Default plasma looks and feels like ass.

*I use my Solus with a different locale, so the names listed could be wrong*
I downloaded it from App Centre. Just click the "Desktop Software and Themes" -> "KDE Desktop" and download whatever you want from it.

I'm not homosexual.

Attached: -.jpg (1280x960, 332K)

>implying you can't post on Jow Forums using lynx

>I'm not homosexual
You can use KDE whether you like dick or pussy.
KDE doesn't determine your sexuality.

Attached: mrrobo-103-malwstrom3.gif (500x275, 1.78M)

Also, cute girls. Would fuck both of them.

I bet you fapped to that before you posted that gif on her. I prefer girls anyways, faggot.

I have a legit reason to use a WM.

I have a thinkpad x200.

Here's proof.

Attached: Screenshot_20180622_232121.png (1920x1080, 2.62M)

Don't blame your X200 for your autism
>MATE
>Xfce
>Cinnamon

I think the only homosexual here is you buddy

Have you tried the OS because the desktop repo gets rolling backports. I just don't like arch based distros and I always have crashes.

OpenSuse Tumbleweed with KDE is prime.

Attached: 1529418484681-g.png (500x303, 192K)

We know it is you, Kevin.

No :)

MATE feels old, xfce is ok, cinnamon =\(why use it when kde and LxQt are just as resource intense and not running shitty gtk framework .)

The Cinnamon 3.8 series have several performance improvements. I'm running Cinnamon 3.8.4 and I'm only using around 150 MiB of memory.

>just as resource intense
any kde distro takes more than a gig of ram just booted, desu
cinnamon distros range between 400-500 mb

If you have Cinnamon 3.8.4 then it's around 150 MiB. (at least for me)

I just prefer KDE senpai. So many more options and a lot slicker. I only installed Cinnamon desktop on my great grandmother's old Acer desktop.

Attached: 1529073733977-g.png (1080x608, 1.05M)

I like KDE, too, but I never gotten around to using it as my daily driver. I should get around to try KDE 5.13. It had several improvements to performance and has awesome blur effects :D
