>Premium user experience
Meaningless buzzwords. Elaborate.

Well for one my computer can fit in an envelope

I got my 2015 mbp retina (256gb ssd, 8gb ram) for less than 1000 quid due to education discount. That seemed like an OK price, and while I loathe the shitty non-servicablility of the macbook, it's been the best laptop I've ever had.

$1050 base for the 13 inch
$1350 base for the 15 inch

uhhhh

i have the same laptop and its garbage.

>overpriced
There is not such thing.
If a computer is unable to do what you want it's overpriced even if it's free. If it does exactly what you want then it's a matter of saving money for it.

>fit in an envelope
does than include all the dongles and adapters?

Runs smoother with less power draw even on older hardware.

Best track pad of any laptop

Ui is well designed and carefully considered

Every other manufacturer tries to copy it but can't. Even Lenovo tried to make chinkpads more like the MacBook.

i wouldn't say it runs smoother since i have tons of problems with this shitbook.

I'll give u the trackpad

UI is decent but im a windowsfag *shrug*

def not worth the prem they have on it.

I'd fully agree on the trackpad point and overall UI design (not usability though), but "runs smoother" is nonsense. I have plenty of older non-apple laptops that run just fine, and perform even better with a simple SSD upgrade.

got a macbook yesterday, coming from 4 years of thinkpads, this is my first true day with it

You look like a fag with a macbook which is worse.

Having been dumb enough to have bought a $2,300 i7 2015 macbook """""""""pro""""""""" I don't think it was even worth a single grand.

>looking like full faggot HIV

>the hardware
you mean old, underpowered garbage
>mac osx
since they only charge like thirty bucks for the update, then it's less than the mstax so macs should actually be cheaper than pcs.

upgrades have been free for LITERALLY years

>tfw it overheats running hearthstone
>tfw takes 4 hours to charge
>tfw i was this stupid enough to buy this shitbook

Compare it to a similar machine like an XPS or RBS and you'll see how terrible the value is, especially beyond the base configuration. It's even worse when you consider the Macbooks are using old CPUs so they don't even have the core count upgrade yet.

Attached: IMG_20180623_165518_HDR.jpg (1000x750, 150K)

well then it should be even less than what I estimated, and be significantly lower priced than pc. of courese I'm talking about the important shit on any computer, the cpu and ram. apple is always lagging behind hardwarewise in these departments

Ok

My X301 can also fit in a manilla envelope.

Which do you see as a better candidate for daily use? Do you think the macbook is worth what you paid?
Tbh OS and software matters quite a bit. I dual boot windows10 and Linux and Linux takes up about a third of the ram windows needs for browsing. In fact there are people being productive on 486s today. If the computer does its job, why does it need Israel's latest good goy hardware?

>whatsapp
how am i supposed to get laid? telegram? here whatsapp is basically the only IM app
>win10
i switched over from win7 a year ago cause 7 is becoming outdated, that's exactly the reason why i switched to mac now.
7 is old, 10 sucks, linux is not something i can use for my job

because you can't use modern software on old harware because programmers a sloppy and lazy. try running lightroom on on a c2d

>charging up to 2 grand for a laptop with only 8 gigs of ram
>13 inch model doesn't even have 16 gig option
apple made decent laptops 10 years ago,
but i'll never buy another.
their open contempt for their users is getting to be microsoft-in-the-90s-tier.

I paid 800 for the the i7 13 inch with 500gb on eBay because the OS was corrupt. 10 minute reinstall to fix. Take advantage of idiots.

here, also I don't mind the old hardware but it's fucking insane to charge more for old hardware than what others charge for new, just because muh shiny

That's a good point. If you're running resource intensive software a macbook (or most laptops for that matter) aren't the best choice. However, I believe that most modern software is bloated with features I don't need. Photoshop cs2 works just as well for me as Cc (I've used both professionally for a long time). Companies like Adobe just keep pushing people down their consumer treadmills because it's the easiest way for them to make money.

>DUAL CORE
>$1699

TOP FUCKING KEK

the x230 was a perfect daily driver for 2 years, cheap as fuck, incredibly well built (i threw it around everyday for the time i used it and ghetto fixed everything, it still seems legit), perfect keyboard, good battery life, lot of nice stuff like you can hold it from the screen.
i switched over only cause windows is becoming filled with bugs, inconsistent and it's like microsoft is not even trying except in the ads side

on the other side the mac is well made but really fragile, screen and trackpad alone are worth the price, specs are not so good but the OS is clearly better optimized.
to make it clear, i paid 600euro on a late 2013 13"/i5/8gb/256gb in near to perfect condition, added another 70euro of accessories (dongles, rubber cover, key sticker to change the keyboard layout) and hardware wise it should be ok for how i use it
i downloaded a few utilities, some paid.
i think the most important are magnet (to handle windows), amphetamine (power management), turboboostswitcher (avoid overclock during battery, longer battery life and it doesn't overheat on your laps), switchresx (modify output res), bartender and battery health (ui modding), paragon ntfs

there are a few more cause OSx lacks of important features but overall it's good cause for everything there's usually an app that does exactly what you want.

yes, it's doable but i won't pay the 2016 retarded macbook prices, it's just not worth it

That's a pretty fair assessment. Buying new macbooks are for people who want to pay the stupid tax or people or companies with enough money to not care. Hope you enjoy both your computers user.

>The hardware
Depends on what hardware you're talking about, the cpu, gpu, their clock speed, ram, storage, screen, etc.

>Mac osX
I dont have much experience with it myself, but from the short time I could use it, I'd say something around 80-100 bucks is a fair enough price

>Premium user experience
Considering what you said here It does run smoothly, the OS is well optimized, but so are others like mint or arch

The trackpad is good, but I seriously doubt it is the best out there

Again, the OS looks good, but also has its disadvantages, like being a walled garden

Another subjective point, doesn't add to the price

>Not looking like a fedora tipping sperg with a chinkpad?
Subjective argument, doesn't add up to the price

What's a computah?

>DUAL core
>128GB storage
>8GB RAM
That thing is worth $500, even less if you count in the shit serviceability. Who the fuck is retarded enough to buy that garbage?

It mainly shows how Walmart laptop hardware has better performance than quad-i7s on mactrash. Hell that dual-core 6600u dell wallmart trasheap probably still has better performance than my 2015 macbook pro.

Er not really true considering that the image you posted shows laptops with near identical hardware showing different results(like the HP vs Dell). The only factor that seems to change is the build quality. But yea that macbook is still pretty trash.

>2018
>corelet dual core

you can get chinknovo y520 with i5 or i7 quad coffin lake, 1080pee ips and gtx 1050ti for half that price.

The point isn't that the user experience is actually good, its that the user experience is completely unified across all their products (or it was before USB C, and will be again if they drop lightning)
If you buy into the whole ecosystem, ipads, iphones, Macs, Macbooks, Apple TV, etc. You know everything is going to be compatible and you know exactly what the usage of each device is going to be like. If you use an iphone for a while, picking up an ipad is going to be an identical experience, and a Macbook is just an ipad with a keyboard, and a Mac is just a Macbook that stays at home.
Everything is compatible, the OS is fairly stable (until another weird string of unicode characters comes along). And because they control the hardware to such a degree they can optimize in ways that other companies can't, so their OS can run better on worse hardware.
I personally hate Apple, but their user experience is WAY better than anyone else's just because of how unified it is.

Annndd there comes the Smartass.

It's true, the Apple Store is very good-looking and you'll need to visit it often due to your keyboard dying because a spec of dust got in.

I almost exclusively use Linux/Android on all my devices. But I recently visited an Apple user's house (one of the people deeply embedded in their ecosystem) and I have to say, all of their shit was completely compatible and really smooth feeling.
Want to cast something to the TV? Hit that button. Want to send some files to another device? Hit that button. Want to text on your phone from your laptop? Hit that button. I know there are ways to do all this without Apple hardware/software, but it just works without any tweaking whatsoever.
I spent a couple hours just fucking with their computers because my user experience with my gear is so different. I can understand why someone with a lot of money would pay a premium for that kind of experience.

>muh ecosystem
I understand where you're coming from but everything you've said you can literally do with something else, and don't give me the whole "muh tweaking" argument, you have to be braindead to not be able to set up a Chromecast or a shared folder.

The point is that there is nothing to set up or tweak, just sign in to your account and connect everything to the same network and you are good to go. And you can't guarantee that every device will even work with that chromecast anyway (without some tweaking that is)

>you have to be braindead to not be able to set up a Chromecast or a shared folder.
What is an Apple user?

And if you actually read the second half of my post you would see that I said its hardly any tweaking at all.
Is saving 10 minutes of time really worth spending a shitload more money on? Obviously not.

What's the pint of being tinny if it has port battery, almost no ports, overheats, has horrible keyboard that breaks with dust, its a pain in the ass to fix and is fragile? I would far prefer a thick laptop if it does better in things that I mentioned.

ITT: Muh chinkpad general

Considering mactoddlers struggle with 2 button mice, it would probably take them 10 hours what would take a person of normal tech literacy to accomplish. Don't be too hard on the mentally handicapped, they can't help it.

>>it's 2018 and moving folders around in finder will STILL cause massive data loss

Holy

>8gb ram
>no mention of GRAM OR GPU
Half that price assuming the video card is worth a fuck and the battery life isnt shit.

Ok, there may not be any tweaking at all, but can you guarantee that that chromecast is going to work easily with every single device you own? If you buy a device that doesn't support it natively you are going to have to tweak some things.
Which may be simple for you and me, but think about how tech illiterate the average person is. Some people don't ever want to have to tweak ANYTHING, so they buy tech that just works.

>Believing anything Rossman says.
Please.

My MBP is great and that's why I'll buy another and so will most people.

The point is, people have jobs and don't have time or energy to do all of that bullshit.

There is a point where the time spent doing something is not worth the added cost for something that just works.

It's going to take me an entire weekend to learn what a shared folder is, set it up, make sure it works and maintain it. Or, I can spend a little extra to get something that works.

All that hobbyist niche stuff is about trading money for time. When you have money but no time you end up going for the normie shit.

This. Someone close this stupid thread please.

And who asked for that? I'd rather have a more capable computer with more battery life than a gimped, but thin and light one, that is made for manlets and soibois.

Thinness has no technological value.

For anything you would actually use in the real world, I can't see the Mac being superior in any way.

And build quality =/= user experience. I have a Pixel 2013 (the expensive Chromebook, full Linux install) that has a far superior build quality than MacBooks and I think the Jade laptop is more pleasant to use.
