botnet

Stating the obvious I see.

Literally 0 (zero) reasons to exist

Why do you say that?

I haven't heard about it since last summer because I've two strict ad blockers running, and I get all my news on Jow Forums.
I don't care the slightest.

/bread
cause nobody gives a fuck

Fuchsia is a kernel.

>cause nobody gives a fuck
googlel does

Nope

No, but it no longer uses the linux kernel and instead uses a google one which is probably proprietary.

If it's non-free, I won't use it. I guess it seems interesting, though. I'd like to learn more about it.

Shilling the new JS skin (dart) is a reason

Agreed.

No, it's open sauce so far. Figures they might make the google services and stuff proprietary again, like on Android, but who knows...

It's going to kill off Linux.

Features:
- No copyleft license
- Designed by former Unix developers
- No copyleft license
- Microkernel instead of whatever abomination Linux has become
- No copyleft license
- Will implement continuity so phones can act as desktop replacements
- No copyleft license

Chances are you won't be able to run apps on the opensource version like Chromium OS.

Going to do more than just kill off Linux.
But killing off linux will be the most impactful one.

I suspect that won't fly with the Chinese, Indian and other smartphone manufacturers and markets. Maybe not in the EU either.

Figures if they really try this one again, we're staying on Android and/or the open sauce fork of Fuchsia [under some consortium like Linaro or whatever] might be the bigger ecosystem.

They are literally reinventing the wheel, tell me what's wrong with Linux?

Wrong. Linux has become a monolithic disaster with bureaucracy issues that nobody really wants to deal with but people still rely on it so they pay the LF. This gets rid of both pain points.

Blinding white, flat and ugly like stock android

Fucks ya

I don't think anything is stopping Google from keeping the Android runtime proprietary like in Chrome OS so manufacturers won't be able to develop a Play Store competitor.

/thread

Literally exists just so Google can inject even more botnet than would be allowed in linux.

This I bet android being open source and based on Linux gives google a lot of trouble since any major shit they do probably will be meet with a fork

With fuchsia we'll never get root or magisk unless chinese fucks work their magic like they do with iphone jailbreaks

>Runs Linux software natively
>Kill Linux

An operating system built by the world's largest marketing company? No thanks.

linuxgizmos.com/googles-fuchsia-os-will-support-linux-apps/

yeah, sure!

Linux is finished and bankrupt.

linux.com/blog/2018/6/googles-fuchsia-adds-emulator-running-linux-apps

Well interesting.

>- Designed by former Unix developers
Not really except indirectly. It uses Go in some places like the network stack

No, fuckface, desktop computing is finished and bankrupt. All of these operating systems supporting Linux is an industry wide response to the needs of infrastructure and software development.Linux will always live on, while you will be forced to use nothing but cloud based garbage like Chrome OS.

Copyleft is a good thing, though.

Most companies do not want to open source their drivers and either drag their feet on it or just ignore the GPL entirely.

monolithic
old
generally hacked together

why you guys act like Linux is some sort of god tier software? it started as shit and nowadays after 20+ years it becomes usable, but the architecture didn't change a lot.
I don't care if software is good enough, if Google comes with a more modern approach to operating system gods fucking things for technology in general.

we missed Plan 9 which really was a small revolution because of good enough os.

A gigantic monolith designed to run on everything and written entirely in C is obviously shit, but at least the GPL license gives everyone access to drivers.

I know, it's the main reason why Optimus doesn't work on laptops despite nVidia already developing an implementation for it.

Here's the article: phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item&px=MTIwNDI

That said, copyleft is still a good thing because without it businesses with more resources and structure than the free software community will use free tools to develop proprietary software. If they don't want to contribute, they shouldn't get to leech; a similar mindset exists throughout most capitalist cultures.

I agree, and this thing could potentially set OSS back decades if it takes off.

I think redox-os looks both more interesting and promising

I thought I read somewhere that Ken Thompson was directly working on Fuchsia. Maybe I am mistaken.

Nice throwing big words around to sound smart you nigger, tell me, what licensing fee does Linux have?

If you're talking about Fuschia, all I can say is it is a monumental task building a proper desktop operating system. I don't think Google has the best track record with their projects. Usually only the ones that garner mainstream attention get proper support while the rest get life support.

I'm going to take the "wait and see" approach
More and more it seems like the best option

I'd be very surprised if they don't follow through on this, because maintaining multiple different OSs is going to be costing Google a fortune in manpower. There's also tremendous value in owning the main branch of the OS running on most Internet of Shit devices.

Fuck CIA

I really hope it succeeds. We need a full paradigm shift towards microkernel architectures, and we've been long overdue for it.
That said, It's definitely going to be botnet, but if Android has taught us anything, it's that people will make custom versions that respect your freedom.

Other microkernel OSes I hope will develop further and succeed: Redox OS, Genode.

The problem from this is going to be that a closed fork of Google's botnet version is going to end up in your washing machine.

Can't wait for native cross platform desktop/mobile app development with Flutter instead of slow, hacky bullshit like React Native. That being said, the build syntax that currently tries to mimick JSX is god awful.

>"Google Fuck CIA OS"
>A logo resembling a womb with the infinity sign as the fetus, telling their own people to breed en masse

Reminds me of LDS in some strange way

>he buys Google washing machines

>Trading on vm for another

Don't buy a washer that connects to networks

I doubt fuchsia will be more than a research os, but at least they try to emulate linux for compatibility reasons.

In theory Linux can be a hybrid kernel.
>We need a full paradigm shift towards microkernel architectures
Only in embedded devices. Probably.

Try again sweetie, it's clear what was said went over your head.

You can already run Fuchsia with a GUI on a Pixelbook so I would be very surprised if they kill it off.

Yes ?

If people can use Fuschia to run linux software linux will no longer be needed since it's 2nd rate tech

implying

well it is clearly an OS aimed at gays since it is based on the color pink. It is probably loaded with ass action porn movies and featuring hairy assed guys buttfucking each other and beating dogs off

See: Fuchsia will be for laptops and smartphones.

I think Zircon is what they're calling the Little Kernel fork.

This. You can get the source here:
fuchsia.googlesource.com/zircon/

>LittleKernel hardwired with Google botnet
L M A O

Not even legit retards are going to fall for this.

Dead even before it was a thing.

Google loving normies will eat it up

Why are they using the Fujitsu logo?

Attached: fujitsu.png (560x435, 23K)

I want to run programs, some of which may be applications, not apps.

It's not some useless Java bullshit like Android is...

fuchsia is open source though

>We need a full paradigm shift towards microkernel architectures
Why, exactly?

That was a prototype. Also crashed alot.

>Being this delusional.

That worked with Buzz and G+ too... Even chromebooks try to be compatible with windows...

Sure it will. This couldn't be just pure speculation, could it?

Jow Forums

They are far more secure than monolithic kernels. I'm not gonna type up all the reasons why, but if you're interested, I'll point you to "Can we make Operating Systems reliable and secure?"
cs.furman.edu/~chealy/cs75/important papers/secure computer-2006a.pdf

oh no, it's the microkernelists with their academic papers again!

How riceable is it

got you shaking in your boots

Yup. After Google dumps Android, Linux will be relegated to servers, until Windows takes over that space completely.

>Most companies do not want to open source their drivers

and that's a problem dipshit. making the process easier isn't going to be better.

>- Designed by former Unix developers

this isn't a good thing. all things "UNIX" were a mistake.

you were a mistake
