Considering how huge is the espectrum of posible human behavior patterns, you could think a more simple design can emulete quite acurately what is interacting with a human, without actualy "emulating" the actual complexity of human thought. If you have acces to contextual data you dont need your robot to be creative like a human, because it will always know something related with the topic. I honestly do not know how advanced are IA that can keep a conversatión at this moment.
