- remove upvotes/downvotes and list comments chronologically instead - provide an anonymous posting option like Slashdot did - drink bleach and kill myself because fuck reddit and the basedboy faggots it appeals to
I've never used Reddit but if it is something like Jow Forums it could be improved (or made more interesting) with user supplied annotations of posts and out-of-band analysis layers.
Ryan Cooper
>Don't let mods censor shit by removing it so erase all the rules except shit like deleting CP which would get the site in trouble >Delete the upvote system which basically censors posts that aren't continuing the circle jerk >Erase all the redditors on the planet to make sure they don't infest the site Done
Cooper Barnes
Jow Forums is shit since at least 6 years back though
a one-year forced lurking period & stricter rules enforcement would be beneficial oh and no fucking obfuscated js malware, anti-adblock, and datamining
Owen Perez
How stupid are you? The mission is replacing reddit and its commie filled administration not creating another Jow Forums.
Owen Brooks
>a one-year forced lurking period I'm not sure how that could be enforced. >no fucking obfuscated js malware, anti-adblock, and datamining See . Hiro selling this shithole to someone less retarded could be a possibility.
Caleb Jenkins
Social media was mistake and couldn’t be fixed.
Andrew Rivera
voat userbase seems more inline with 4ch than leddit
Jackson Roberts
Jow Forums died when every board except Jow Forums was moderated out of existence, what made Jow Forums great (/b/) lost its entire userbase and now its literally just 9gag the imageboard.
Landon Sanders
Voat has a userbase? I remember it was suspiciously DDOS'd when reddit was down.
Hunter Gonzalez
i wouldn't make it reddit
Cooper Parker
Wow 200iq post right here.
Easton Cooper
no reddit because by now its an agenda pushing teenager filled echochamber made even worse by the fact that its even more popular than it was before
Christian Thomas
Reddit is as popular as it is because it reflects mass and popular opinion by design.
The use of upvoting and downvoting, the tree like structure of replies and the way the most popular items are pushed to the front is intentional. It works extraordinarily well as an echochamber because it reflects what has the most upvotes first in all cases and suppresses what is unpopular.
This is why its userbase is essentially confined to consensus positions on everything, always subject to the whims of marketing and shills. It is a comforting place in its own right.
An alternative to reddit would need the same style of upvote/downvote consensus as well as the tree like discussion structure, but enforced anonymity outside admins and mods. Keep the same structure of conventional thinking which attracts normies but you would enable less consensus setting via the reputation factor so free discussion would reign more. Also add embedded images, embedded videoes and admin/mod controlled banners for the redditesque boards.
>Reddit is as popular as it is because it reflects mass and popular opinion by design. No it doesn't, half the country voted for Trump and there are barely 2 popular subs (which have been shadowbanned from the frontpage) that show right wing politics in a good light.
Jonathan Powell
What is not having an argument so you just spew buzzwords.
It is popular by design within their respective subreddits. Not necessarily across the entire thing.
Owen Brooks
Unironically I don't know why people like reddit Conceptually it's much much much worse than Jow Forums
For example >indenting of replies instead of nice flat structure of Jow Forums >no nesting of parent and child mesaages like in Jow Forums >no embedding of images in posts >no ability to reference posts even across threads and boards >no hover to view >no auto update >downvotes, upvotes, karma is always a bad idea >user accounts is a mostly bad idea >old reddit is ugly, new is a stinking pile of shit
A decentralised open source Jow Forums is where it's at >feature parity with Jow Forums >Jow Forums look alike >completely decentralised >anons subscribe to boards and act as nodes for said boards thread and content in the p2p mesh >anons can unsubscribe or filter threads and posts and stop being nodes >any user can add a new board on the mesh but since boards need seeders this will limit the board proliferation
Why nobody is working on this?
Cameron James
The DDOS is just their servers being such ass that they collapse the slightest hint of traffic.
Brandon Sanchez
I use reddit, because there are very good sub that benefits for me such sysadmin, netsec, I visit them everyday.
Jaxson Sanchez
To continue Due to bump limit and thread pruning a decentralised Jow Forums would be space efficient and faster than Jow Forums No thread archiving but side projects could handle that in the node level You can always add meganodes to the mesh This technology would obliterate wikis
Anthony Brown
Tildes is a pretty decent alternative
Austin Clark
>answering within 1 minute of one another >op talking to himself Well done starting a bait thread, OP
Dominic Campbell
>DecentralizedAnonimityNo JS hellA global "this is not a leftist website" policy
Charles Sanchez
>and when every other board turned into a subboard of Jow Forums ftfy
Joseph Jenkins
sounds perfect
Christian Gray
Make every post sort by controversial by default.
Jayden Sanders
0 - fix the fucking servers 1 - anonymous posting 2 - shared comment pool for crossposts 3 - quality of life UI improvements
Michael Harris
use i2p
Nolan Sanchez
I'd rather just use reddit man, im not subscribed to this endless console war bullshit
Owen Hill
>implying the founder of reddit was assassinated Can you think like a normal person for once, please?
Charles Lewis
>I'm not sure how that could be enforced. New IPs are blocked from posting until a year has passed, simple
Zachary Gutierrez
> how horrendous imageboards are for staying updated with the news. It's a fact They aren't meant to be used like that though, suscribe to a mailling list or try twitter if that's what you're looking for.
Christopher Edwards
>its popular by design but it isn't You are a goddamn retard, the whole thing is artificial.
Jayden Collins
Buzzword is something you use when you have no context and no argument, which what you don't have.
Connor Sanchez
>Unironically I don't know why people like reddit >i don't like so no one should like it You are too stupid to form a objective opinion if you don't understand why reddit is the biggest site in the world right now.
Justin Watson
Sure thing (((user)))
Jack Ward
>Tildes is a pretty decent alternative >site from a country with hate speech laws where you can go to prison for not calling some dude xhe >decent
Levi Rivera
>implying he wasn't
Brody Cruz
Absolutely. I hope it stays invite-only for a while.
Anthony Morris
Thats great, so if you have dynamic IP you can never post until your whole country is whitelisted. Fucking retard.
William Turner
