Actually anons the reason is not any of that. Well maybe a little but not the main reason behind the hate.
You see there is no fallback job for an athlete. There is nothing he can do with his skills he has mastered if he fails at winning.
He has no other choice but to succeed, or drop out. This however is not true for a computer scientist (yeah fuck off if you think software engg is disjoint). There's always a cushiony software dev/ shitty web dev job waiting if you don't succeed at your endevor of being a good comp scientist. There's always a fallback net that will catch you if you fall.

Most people seem to realize that programmers make a decent amount of money, don't have to do physical labor, and do computer things that most normies have no grasp of.
