Protonvpn is run by the company behind Protonmail. The free tier isn't logged, but is bandwidth capped pretty low, p2p is disabled, and you don't get their "secure core", which routes your traffic through Switzerland.
Netflix and others block traffic from large blocks of ip addresses to prevent this. It’s very rare that this works because of this, and if it does it quickly stops working.
A solution to this would be making friends across the pond and having them host a vpn server / ssh server for you, and in exchange doing the same, but that apparently is harder than it seems.
If you need to just make accounts then use some random free proxy.
