After buying a Xiaomi Mi 8 SE, I was wondering if you guys have a setup guide for Xiaomi phones. I think it's the Global Version, under Miumi v10.

So i downloaded a theme for miui (i have a xiaomi phone)
applied it but the icons stay the same on the home screen and the app drawer, but they have the new look in the multitasking view(wtf?)

I restarted the phone already.
Any advice?
>don't buy xiaomi
I won't next time.

Are you using the Chinese rom by any chance? I noticed the chinese rom doesn't change the icons in themes while the global does.

Global.

anyone with an xz1(c) try this xz2 camera port? Is there a noticeable difference?

forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony/mod-xperia-xz2-camera-port-xperia-xzs-t3771889

I still wish sony added raw support already so google hdr+ port can be used fully

>former applefag
>kept up with Android, always kinda meh about both
>time for new phone
>setup some iot shit, ditch Apple TV
>wow aosp Android is bretty gud
>get pixel2

I like it. 9/10, needs qi. End of review.

Miui has no app drawer

>Any advice?
>don't buy xiaomi
>I won't next time.
Because you couldn't apply a random theme? You can also use third-party launchers with app drawers, which can apply pre-made themes that actually function. What has happened to this board?

>qi
Needs a gimmick which makes your battery considerably hotter, your phone unable to move from the charging pad, but not a micro SD card slot, a 3.5mm jack and online availability. Great review, 10/10 device.

best battery case for s9?

>best battery case for s9?
Buy a phone with a larger battery capacity. Perhaps Samsung will muster up a 4000 mAh battery on the S10.

when does the global redmi note 5 release? all i can see are preorders
nb: i'm talking about the version with 6 GB memory and LTE B20 (800 MHz), i know the crappier versions are released already

There won't be a Global version with 6gb RAM.

Crappier versions? What do you need 6 GBs of RAM on a smartphone for? The 6 GB variant is only available in India.

wtf, dropped if true
i've found this aliexpress.com/item/Global-Version-Xiaomi-Redmi-Note-5-6GB-RAM-64GB-ROM-SmartPhone-Snapdragon-636-Octa-Core-5/32857592639.html but i'm not sure whether it's legitimate

Any recommendations for bluetooth speakers for around 100$?
Currently considering the JBL Charge 3, Flip 4, or UE Boom 2.
I mainly want it to be somewhat rugged so I can take it wherever the fuck in the future

>Type in a search in any website's search bar on Firefox
>press enter
>changes to something else I've searched before
How do I stop this? I already turned off autofill.

Only in china version gets 6gb ram version. Its probably legit but with chinese rom or something.

happens to me as well, sometimes at least
are you using the latest firefox version? i'm on an old 55 or 56 build because XUL extensions

I'm using Nightly.

Was going to get a Moto g6 as my new phone
The 4gb memory with 64gb storage version
Is there any other phones I should consider in the sub 300$ price point

It's really annoying because now I'm locked out of any database that doesn't have a button to click for searching.

FUCK I HATE KING NIGGER

Is there even any reason to go Lineage on the OnePlus 3 and lose all the camera quality?

Redmi Note 5

Rooted my Note Edge (sm-n915v) and looking to get the latest security patches on a stock android. Tried FlashFire to appply the OTA which failed. Heard there's a way to install the updated firmware over Odin without losing root. Support for this device is lacking. Anybody here who could point me in the right direction?

my Samsung relay ate shit a while ago and in on the look out for a new phone that has a qwerty keyboard. I've been looking at the blackberry key2. any reason i shouldn't get it?

Attached: 1529692192968.png (380x349, 77K)

Yeah was looking at it the specs are amazing for it's price ontop of the 4000mah battery

A 4.5" display and a starting price of $650?

the screen size would be an upgrade considering that my last phone had a 4inch screen, and I was planning on buying a used one for under 300$

Attached: 1527818911822.png (211x239, 6K)

redmi note 5 global (we have to add global because those indians xiaomi ruined the name by adding 'pro' to it) keep getting mentioned here because its amazing for it's price. I have one myself for a few days.

Not a single phone that can match this. 4000mah with sd636 and quick charge is heaven, with that price...dude, I'm not even a shill but this might be the best budget phone right now.

>quick charge
some say the phone doesnt support it (at least not with the charger in the package). How fast does the phone charge itself?

Key2 is maybe the sweetest phone on the market right now

Was looking at the mi max 2 but yeah I may go with that now that I have seen it

What are the best current phones with a headphone jack and no notch?

Seems like only s9/+ and v30 are

Where did you buy it can't find it on Amazon

check kimovil.net

i feel like i'm doign something wrong by getting a phone with micro-usb even though i don't care about fast charging or other memes like that

Same dude I'm most likely gonna get a redmi note 5 and I'd like to have to not deal with breaking USB cables

Anyone unironically buying the Key2? No unlocked bootloader is not great but otherwise it seems nice

USB-C is just so fucking convenient. It's a super nice plug compared to how fiddly and shitty micro-USB is.
It connects much more securely and you don't have to give a fuck about the plug's orientation, it will fit in perfectly both ways.
Fast charging, way higher bandwidth, and all the other applications are just a bonus for me to be honest.

thinking about a regular old redmi 5 here
it's annoying me so much that i'm considering getting a leeco phone just to get a stupid usb c port

this is the reason i've been holding off on buying a new phone as every phone in my price range has micro usb

Could get a moto g from Amazon decent battery and 4gb of ram CPUs a bit toss though it's grand now but I'm unsure how well it will age

USB-C was invented solely because people would break their charging ports while drunk or being careless.

I need advice, which smartphone should I get, the Meizu Pro 6 Plus or the Meizu Pro 7s?
The pro 6 has a bigger screen and a higher resolution, but the pro 7 has a back screen and an MP3 mode that saves energy which utilizes only its back screen. I listen to music a lot so it could be useful.
The Meizu pro 7 would be a bit cheaper than the pro 6 plus. I'm really in doubt. The pro 7 is way cooler with its dual screen, but the pro 6 plus might be a better deal for the same price.

>Blackberry edition
I want the Key2, but I can't justify upgrading when I bought a Key1 6 months ago

Attached: blackberry-key2-preview-18.jpg (1600x1200, 202K)

>Blackberry edition
Why did they have to die? Why couldn't google just slide to irrelevance?

That said, how good/bad of an idea is it to replace my aging Q10 (4 years and counting) with an iPhone when I just want the same from it I wanted from my BlackBerry?
>email and internet
>gps (OSMand)
>good camera
>robust
>minimal apps (train an airline apps, tinfoil for facebook)
>it just werks
>4 years usable life

Also, why is everything so expensive? Anyone got experience with refurbished and certified iphones from german amazon? There's various third parties that sell the 6s 64gb for under 300€.

Why not get a keyone/key2?

I've never purchased a phone case before. My new phone will lack a slot to loop a lanyard, so I want to get a case that will have one.
Any recommendations for good brands that include that feature?

Attached: 81g9ePYgIrL._AC_SL1500_.jpg (1500x1454, 175K)

Not sure about lanyards and I'd be hesitant to rely on any of them as long as it's not a case that fully encloses the phone on every side and just one you can slip on with little effort, but the usual brands that are very highly recommended are like Spigen, Gear4, Tech21, and Otterbox.

it support quick charge. I heard 1080p60fps will be enabled by miui 10 (I'm okay with miui for now, haven't root yet).

Anyone know a way to unlock the bootloader on the LG G4 VS986?

Attached: LG_G4_32GB_VS986_Android_Smartphone_for_Verizon_-_Titanium_Gray_58174.jpg (1000x1000, 136K)

this

Because it runs android andblackberry hasn't even remotely done enough to make it safe.
Also, they have already broken their promise of providing long term updates and even if I would want to waste time getting the thing into a usable state myself, I could not, thanks to its locked bootloader.

consider the bq aquaris x2, it has usb-c and will likely have decent LOS support

What is the best value phone for USA people? We can't use these Chinese phones with missing bands. I was thinking it would be the Nokia 6.1 but isn't the bootloader locked or something? The Moto g6 as well but it has no roms

My old phone is dying so i need to get a replacement asap since I am going out of the country.
I live in the US, budget is ~$150-~250, I want a good smartphone that is solid all around. I'll be using it for mobage, browsing the web and normal calls. I initially was looking at things like the Pixel 1 XL but I have never bought a used phone before and I have no idea where to start.

Retard.

Forgot. I am with AT&T

Current iOS fag here with a 4S.

Thinking of a droid under $300 with Cricket USA. Any input?

Don't bother. Sell it before the inevitable bootloop.

Maybe a nokia 7 plus? Moto x4? Moto G6 plus?

>AT&T
This is your priority above everything and you can thank US carriers for that. Kimovil lists network band support.

It's already happened once. Only good thing about it is it was free.

Xiaomi phones then?
I suppose I would have to order an unlocked one and get the sim for it?

is the ph1 still a thing?

I'm hesitating between the s8 or s7 edge, whihc one should i go for ? is there a better alternative for the same price ?

Nokia 6.1

...

10nm Redmi when?

Is the 3G of RAM an issue?

IPhone se

Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Global vs Moto G6 Plus
which one? I still use my first Moto G

Attached: 1464036779892.jpg (620x729, 75K)

I fell for the redmi note 5 shills and got one too. Delivers from China and it's on its way. Now, as I'm getting new phone, how do I care about battery? I totally fucked up with my previous (current) phone as I always killed battery to 0% and I read that you cant do that. Anything else I should know?

I'm on the fence over the Essential Phone or a Pixel 2, keep in mind I'm on Verizon

While the Pixel 2 has a slightly better version of Android the Essential Phone is still running stock Android, Pixel 2 has a better camera but coming from a Droid Turbo I'm not sure if the Essential's would be a huge upgrade, Essential seems to have the better build quality but instead of an OLED display it's an LCD, both got a SD 835/4GB RAM but the Essential is $150 less here in the US or more

Help anons

Out of those two the Pixel 2 is the better deal by far.
I'd seriously consider the S9 as well though. You can make it look and behave just like stock android if you are into that, touchwiz isn't really bad anymore either though. Hardware-wise it absolutely demolishes the other two phones.

I've definitely looked at the S9 and it seems way out of my budget of around $535, in this case possibly higher for the Pixel 2. The S9 just seems ridiculously fragile, I mean yeah all modern phones aren't exactly durable but I wouldn't even trust myself holding that thing in my hand because I tend to drop my phone on accident from time to time and since I'm 6 feet tall that wouldn't go so well, plus it has a taller screen and my hands are fucking massive.
I'm also a normie when it comes to phones and security so I don't really mind Google spying on me as long as I'm not doing anything I shouldn't be doing.

>blackberry edition

youtu.be/mavrdYZPg0Q?t=277

there is your blackberry build quality shtibirds

Fair enough, it definitely isn't the most rugged phone in the world. If you slap a case on there it should be able to survive most normal drops as long as you don't get super unlucky, but the rounded screen and glass back definitely put it a few categories below the alternatives when it comes to durability.

Why shills? It could be argued it's a perfect successor to the S5 and perhaps the best price/performance device of 2018. You are not wasting money on anything in this case. Here is some battery advice:
en.miui.com/thread-686805-1-1.html
batteryuniversity.com/index.php/learn/article/how_to_prolong_lithium_based_batteries

my advice would be to always charge to 100% when you begin the charging, and optimally don't use the phone while it's charging, just let it charge with wifi, data, bluetooth, and background apps shut down
another thing is that full discharge cycles objectively degrade the battery more than discharging to eg. 40% and then charging to 100% and it's a fact

Generally speaking it's healthiest for your battery to hover around 40~60%.
If you want to keep it for as long as absolute possible you'd use your phone until it's roughly at 40%, then charge it until it's at 60% again.
Obviously that's not really doable for most people but as long as you avoid the extremes as much as possible, so never let it completely run out and never charge it to 100%, you are doing fine.

don't over charge, don't let it drop below 10%.

too much heat kill battery, don't quick charge while using it. but don't worry about the minor heat when quick charging, just turn off the screen.

for me, I enter flight mode then quick charge it. It will reach 60% in no time.

S8 is a massive upgrade over the edge and a great phone overall, though it has an underwhelming battery.

I'd definitely get maybe a Sony XZ1 if it weren't for my carrier, Verizon is fucking ass

Apparently the camera is terrible

I got the moto g6 play, pic related.

Attached: 9745456.jpg (967x689, 178K)

Getting my friend his first phone for his birthday. Thinking of getting him the blackberry passport. Someone's selling one for $50, but says they're trying to get rid of it so I could probably lower it to $40. Would this be a good choice or should I stick to the galaxy note 4/ s5?

Should I update my android phone to Marshmallow?

doesn't seem worth it to me really. Nougat is fine as it is

Nigga Marshmellow is before Oreo. This dude is on Lollipop.

Im a broke ass nigga

my bad, misread. Marshmallow is great, though lollipop is too if you choose to stay. you can't go wrong either way
