I'm curious, what do you like about/why do you use herbstluftwm? I remember trying it a while back, but found the manual tiling to be rather annoying.

manual tiling is a little annoying. but i dont have to use it much because u can save layouts in herbst and set it to a keybind. also changing things is easy, u dont have to restart or exit, just hit the reload keybind to make changes. another thing i love is frames (in scrot). u can tile different directions in each frame and one with vim shows focus to one window so it can have unlimited windows behind it. i have the frame borders toggle with a keybind

Ricing on Linux is kind of pathetic. It's straight up sad that my Litestep taskbar in Windows XP is more robust than polybar, lemonbar, etc.

I have 3 main complainants:

1. It doesn't have a true minimal release for the desktop (without a DE). If you try to install the "Ubuntu Server" variant, you'll end up with weird network settings by default, and also won't be able to choose which storage you gonna use to install it.

2. GNOME had better support for tray icons in previous versions because they were deprecated. You won't get this problem with Debian 8 or Ubuntu 16.04 (not sure about Debian 9).

There's a third one, but I'm not sure if it's 18.04's fault or my Windows install's. Every time I boot on Windows, it fucks up the Ubuntu 18.04 partition and I have to run a live distro and fsck it. This has never happened with any other distro (or older Ubuntu releases) and I'm thinking about switching distros because of it. It'll probably be Debian.
