broadly speaking, germany's industrial base while a miracle was simply too small- and vulnerable to air strikes which it was having to constantly rebuild. america's industrial base had largely secure resource inputs and was 20 times the size. ultimately, the US could just produce "good enough" weapons and win numerically. gradually, american planes gained superiority and then it was simply over as the industrial base germany had built could be destroyed, and any military forces that were seen could be constantly attacked from the air.

the armor of your tank doesn't matter so much when you are under constant air attack, outnumbered 10:1 and you cannot cover every attack the american army launches. the sherman wins every single engagement by default that a tiger doesn't show up to, and it wins half the engagements they do show up to.

under such circumstances, you can't win.

They were paying off debt, and had to use the media to manipulate the people to get into the mindset of war again, just a generation later. It wasn't a popular thing to do. The Brits didn't want anything to do with the Continent. They ignored the Spanish and Germans' advancements for almost a decade.
