Interested in this. Is anyone making music players in 2018 or did they all just give up?

I too am interested in this topic, I was using an old phone but apparently I misplaced it in another state

Was using the AGPTEK Rocker. Navigation was 10/10, could view music in folder mode, supported uncompressed music formats but
THE FUCKING AUX AND CHARGING PORTS CEASED WORKING WITHIN 8 MONTHS OF PURCHASING IT
If you're willing to depend on something that temporary I highly reccomend

For mobile? Literally mobile phone.

iPod Video

benjie t6, i like mine

Minidisc player.

Hypothetical device of my phone but with control keys.
AK or Sony players.

Are there any I could use for fitness?

I don't know why, but the word fitness makes me so hard, makes me wanna touch myself and cum...

LG V20

Just do it

They're still happening. They're called DAPs though.

I have a Fiio M3 since I was poor at the time and it's nice
Pros:
>nice and small, but not fragile
>can hold a 200 gb micro SD card
>at $50 it's pretty cheap

Cons:
>playlists are fucked (no create-your-own like in other Fiios)
>rockbox support never
>screen scratches easily

I'd say it's worth it though.

The first and last Apple device I'll ever be getting. The single best thing Apple has ever managed to produce.
Still on stock firmware, managed with Foobar2000.
Not feeling like going through the hassle of Rockboxing it at the moment, since the Classic can't handle dual boot and in either case putting my 140+GB of music would take ages. Stock firmware's fine though - perhaps the only things I'm missing is being able to create proper playlists on the device itself and the lack of "add to Now Playing" feature (instead you have to make an On-The-Go playlist, start playing that and then add stuff on it).

I just use a portable minidisc player. I mean sure its old but limiting capacity makes you think about what you want to listen to, not just have 10000's of song that barely ever get played if at all

It can dualboot and rockbox can read the itunes library on the drive

Cowon Plenue D, because I don't feel like charging my shit more than once a week. It's also has a really nice form-factor.

Oh, can it? There's a new version out there? The last time I checked, the Rockbox version for iPod Classic couldn't be installed as dual boot alongside the stock firmware, only on its own. Cool, I'll have to take a look.

You must've checked years ago then. I had a Classic set up to dual-boot in 2014, if not earlier

I just want something that's rockboxed and will hold more than a 64 gb microSD gaddammit

I love my Clip, it's great for running, so light I don't even feel it in my pocket.

My phone

So pop an SD card in an iPod and rockbox it

weren't you governor of california or something

top tiers, right here. Revived my Gen3 with a new battery and flash memory. Sansa for moving around or car aux, ipod for studying in the library.

For me it's the crosley cruiser, a portable handy record player

WASTE.OF.DUBS.

3/10 for making me reply & being triggered from Crosley

Any players with just wired connectivity, no bluetooth/mic/fm radio?

You could get an old ipod and mod it to hell

Shanling m0. I use a walkman a35 for the gym myself but the shanling looks way better for that purpose.

Might get one of these once they come out:

Zishan z2 or z3 .. I use mine to play DSD 128

Just started using Clip Sport over a Clip ZIp. I miss having a dedicated power button on top. Also, it's a bit wider and the buttons are harder to reach while holding it with one hand.

Sony and SanDisk are the only companies from the MP3 player peak that are still making them

I still have my bitching gogear spark with FULLSOUND™ from like 2009

sansa clip sport look fine, but there is a limitation of 2000 file :/
so impossible to put a 128Gb card :/

iriver is still alive as well, though the DAPs that they produce are under the Astell & Kern brand.

Attached: 2b3c5952c0a.png (1499x2100, 2.58M)

I've still got an iRiver DAP. I've been meaning to upgrade the HDD; I'd imagine it'd work just like modding an iPod, but haven't gotten around to it

Attached: iriver-pmc-120-2.jpg (480x320, 30K)

Agreed. Nice device despite iTunes and the filesystem DRM.
I moved to this after the iPod. I love this thing.

All I wanted was an Altmann Tera Player but I was not going to pay a few thousand dollars for one.

Thank god the chinks caught up.

Attached: image.jpg (1024x768, 181K)

I have an ipod touch.

I use a Clip Zip.(Rockboxed)
Mom has a Clip+.

Sansa mp3 player is the shit. Limited hd space means you have to pick what you want to listen to. Then you get to really listen to what you pick

Attached: sansa.jpg (1500x1458, 112K)

I had this bad boy as a teen. It was the fucking best.

>Thank god the chinks caught up.
You mean to say there's a knockoff for sale?

I use this 4 gb shit
For some reason it reproduces some FLAC files, maybe they're fake ones idk I downloaded them from piratebay rip

Hell fucking yes dude!

Why does he keep stabbing everything calm down

My long time friend died few weeks ago. (Clip+)
Doesn't boot up anymore, it has done this before once but it has been weeks now. Thinking of getting a XDuoo as a replacement.

I love mine too.
>in my pocket
Why not CLIPPING it onto your belt loop?

android phone

with sd card ?

Get a Benjie T6, it's basically a slightly larger clip+ without the clip. Has rockbox support, 256gb microSD and everything.

>Nice device despite iTunes and the filesystem DRM.
Fortunately Foobar2000 is a great solution for both, allowing easy content management (no syncing though, but I couldn't possibly care less for that) and copying/moving shit back from the player, with appropriate folder creation and file renaming.

Shanling m0, love this fucking thing.

Attached: 20180627_082753~01.jpg (1280x960, 243K)

Can foobar manage Zune HD's ? I can can synch it linux with rythmbox but it's not very reliable

Shanling m0 is 100 bucks, definitely the best you can get for the price. Has a good DAC, can use it as a DAC for your PC or whatever, high resolution bluetooth streaming to and from it which is neat

Looks good but
>$102

For all the features it has you won't find one cheaper. Of course if you don't need them then there are cheaper alternatives

But I like SOME features though.
>usb-c 2amp charging
>tiny and square
>aloomernum body

Hello.
I use Winamp/foobar2000 on my PC.
I recently got a new phone, and the default music software is terrible.
Funnily enough, Samsung S3 music player was better than this one, despite it being years older.
Anyway, looking to get something else on it. I heard there's a foobar2000 copy or something on mobile, so I'll get that.

You don't wear a belt while you run. You're either fat fuck or you're jamal with saggy nigger pants

I've never had any issues with Shuttle on my g3 or s7. There's a million music players so just try them out and see which you like most

Honest question, I have the LG v30 which has a "quad dac", whatever that means. Is it worth it for me to get a dedicated DAP or is my phone's dac good enough?

The chip in the v30 is excellent, you're good with it unless you wanted a smaller device.

This. It's the same one the shanling m0 is using.

You need to switch out the HDD for an SD card, maybe replace the battery too (optional.)
Your battery life will go up and seek times will disappear, also no more moving parts so it won't be at risk of damage.

Now there is Foobar2000 for Android, but I wouldn't bother with it, the UI isn't quite up to snuff: no play queue, just fiddling around with playlists, pretty ugly, hardly any customization.

There's tons of options out there, but to mention a few well worth checking out: Pulsar, Phonograph, BlackPlayer, Omni Music Player (AKA the one currently listed just as "Music Player" by Silvereon Tech).

Just go full Audiophile™ and plug a nice DAC to your phone

Shanling M2s here, it's amazing

>>Thank god the chinks caught up.
>You mean to say there's a knockoff for sale?

Not really. I think he means that there are now chinese players of comparible quality. If you want a good screenless DAP that isnt a walnut or zishan, I would check out the Nuana P1. It uses a philips NOS dac like the tera player, but has a more powerful amplification circuit. It can also play more file formats like flac and mp3. It is $350 though. It does use a muses02 opamp, which is $50 on its own.

Attached: 20180627_111410.jpg (1960x2519, 3.34M)

my phone.

Get out.

Attached: 04Rockbox_Menu.jpg (594x900, 45K)

What a the point of this? Serious question

Oh yeah, I'll definitely be doing those mods when the time comes.
But so far both the battery and HDD have been doing fine - pretty impressive as this current unit of mine I bought used. Battery's holding up well and HDD diagnostics shows 2 retracts, 0 reallocs, and 0 pending sectors.

AIMP works quite well

Attached: Screenshot_Nova_Launcher_20180627-190259.png (1080x1920, 1.32M)

For starters, depending on the stock firmware, anything from a big to MASSIVE increase in features and number of supported file formats. Tons of customization options. Drag & drop music transferring.

What's the cheapest player that can handle 24bit flac?

AFAIK, unfortunately not. Or at least I don't recall seeing plugins for adding Zune support.

Touch 6th generation. I don't really have much of a choice; I hate it.

Why should I get anything more expensive than the shanling m0? Seems to be top notch, seems like more expensive players would only be for placebo or a bigger screen

These the Tin audio t2? Thoughts?

I was thinking of buying them but got the kz zs6 first.

>Rockbox
What is this? Custom OS for the iPod?

Oh dear, I have the same. Mine doesn't work.

Does it play m4a files, buddy?

Odd, since mine is rocksolid still, even got a firmware update to support .ape files.

Encoding some .wma files not because no opus support.

with rockbox it does for sure.

I got in 2010. It stopped working by 2015.

I've never made any firmware update too. The shops I have gone to didnt have any idea how to fix it. So I left it.

Not the same user, but the hype is real. Very good IEMs!
Neutral and balanced sound signature (or cover front housing vents for a bass boost).
All-metal housings. Detachable cables with MMCX connectors. Can be worn over-ear or cable down.

i actually might

HELP

There is a Rockbox port for the FiiO X1 being worked on right now. The beginnings of a port for the Shanling M2 has appeared on the forum as well.

got the sanclip, it's good to clip it on my sleeve with a supershort cable and go out.

i have a clip zip, its comfy as shit.

the new Sansas suck though

hello there
I have an ipod nano (the latest one with the home button). I don't use it anymore since itunes suck, is there any custom firmware or a way to sync it without itunes? google says that there are ways but from what I've seen they all suck.

As far custom firmware goes, it seems you're out of luck, since there's working ports of Rockbox only for the first two Nanos generations.
rockbox.org/wiki/IpodPort

However, you can grab Foobar2000 and the foo_dop component for managing your Nano.
wiki.yuo.be/dop:start

Do these support flac? I have too much flac music that I'd like to put into it on a sd card.
