Just bought this piece of shit on ebay and I plan on gutting it and bascially rebuilding it with modern specs. What am I getting myself into?

You wasted you're money on trying to be ironic/unique. You're a fucking idiot.

He said he wanna make a restomod, not a fucking restoration.

>literally roasting a fucking motherboard with passive components rated 100*C max (

You can't waste money in the name of fun

I unironically would love a keyboard in that color. Does anyone know of any keyboards that look like that? I tried looking for the hotwheels one specifically but couldn't find any for sale.

the point is even modifying it, he's gonna be in for a bad time. the case is a pita to work with and uses a special PSU and motherboard. He'll have to cut out shit and weld in bits from a more modern case to do what he wants.

> What is gambling

A fun way to spend and possibly make money

wew
can you fit a micro atx there?

no. It's a Flex-ATX case which is narrower than mATX. an mITX should fit though.

Post specs

I think they all used an Intel Celeron and 128mb of ram

>*thinks to self*

>buys rare piece of hardware for several hundred
>destroys any value it had before
Complete fucking moron.

Be warned, you're going to be drowning in pussy. Legit, show this picture to any girl and watch her heart melt.

sweet idea OP! I really love projects like this. Be sure to post it on Jow ForumsPCMasterRace for that sweet karma!

ho do i upboat on 4Channel xDD

>even the AC adapter is blue

What is that, a cat5 cable? The seller couldn't bother bundling a blue or even yellow one?

Run haiku on it. Adorable box.

And it's ugly too. It might be worthwhile if it looked cool, but it's hideous.

>oh you look like absolute dog shit that was baked in the sun for 7 weeks? I guess that means you're a fucking retard too! "You're so beautiful xd"

I mean I guess it beats being called ugly, but Im sure the girl knows they're being fake as fuck

Put upvote in the options field.

why didn't they get the CRT? I'm guessing it died?

What if the computer was dead? Quite likely since those computers were unreliable.

Nah, when you're that ugly it'd be better for people to just say it.

What difference would it make? He wants to build a modern PC in the case. If he manages to make that even fit, and get around all sorts of cooling problems, it will still look like a toy.

Closed loop liquid CPU cooler should do the trick. I would not put a GPU in there.

>he thinks LGR isn't literally drowning in sweet pussy juice on a daily basis.
Nigga I don't even know how he finds the time to raid thrift stores anymore.

>you will never be a cool kid with a Linux hotwheels pc

>I would not put a GPU in there.
If you're not putting a GPU, air cooling on the CPU should be fine.

Where would you even fit the radiator for the closed loop cooler? Drill lots of holes in the top? Small one in the front and blow hot air into the case? (Will the bezel even allow enough air in?) Back to front airflow restricted by the bezel?

Looks like my kind of project, OP.

Just put a 3dfx card and a soundblaster 16 and make it the ultimate Dos Machine.

Nothing will happen because it won't reach the blades.

Buy blue keycaps I guess?

Overheating components. Unless it's a Via C3 machine.

He's saying the motherboard would have to be recapped.

>By all accounts, the Patriot Hot Wheels Computer was a poorly executed idea. Released alongside the virtually identical Barbie Computer (the two were respectively "Designed specially for Boys [sic]" and "Designed specially for Girls") in the fall of 1999, it sold for $599 and came bundled with various games and educational software, plus a plastic steering wheel peripheral. "I don't think they're going to take the industry by storm," explained analyst Schelley Olhava to CNET that year. "But there is probably a niche audience who would be interested in this for their kids."

>The computer went on to fail even these modest expectations by shipping with a faulty power supply that affected roughly half the first batch of sales; a number of parents who ordered them as Christmas presents ended up with a "free gift package" containing a toy and gift certificate instead. A year later, Patriot Computer filed for bankruptcy with 3,100 PC orders undelivered, leaving buyers with a $100 gift certificate from Mattel by way of apology. If you'd like to feel even worse, check out the complaint in Maximum PC from a family that supposedly spent $1,800 on a glitchy fully upgraded version for their 7 year old son.

>333Mhz Celeron with no cache
Those things were a dog.

Good thing he only bought it for the case

Even Windows XP doesn't run properly on 333Mhz processors.

I was 11 in 1999; thankfully I had a Dell machine aka a real PC.

>HAHA GUYS LOOK AT MY IRONIC MILLENNIAL BUILD
neck yourself

I'd rather have had the Hot Wheels machine. If 'd had one there's a very good chance I'd still have it, at which point I'd have repeatedly modded it to fit more modern builds

>El Segundo-based Mattel licensed its famous brand names to the computer maker in June 1999 and began having problems soon thereafter. Last year before Christmas, Patriot was facing mounting cancellations after the company said problems with a power-supply part from Asia would cause production delays.

>The flower-covered Barbie PC was supposed to encourage girls to feel comfortable with computers. Some critics objected to what they viewed as stereotypically gender-specific colors and programs.

>Barbie's PC included such programs as "Barbie Cool Looks Fashion Designer," "Barbie Riding Club," and "The Ultimate Writing and Creative Center."

I'd personally mount a mini itx on the bottom sitting flat or a ARM64 board and take out the rotary tool to cut out a standard I/O panel square.
Maybe cut a hidden 60mm exhaust fan behind the hotwheels logo with a dust filter.

Maybe add some leds to the front and hook them up to hdds.
You could even cut out one of the sides a slap in a cheapo lcd panel.
Fill in the back ports with epoxy or fiberglass/mold and sand/paint so it looks flush.

I really love the keyboard and even the blue dc adapter.

The speakers are probably perfect and you could even add tweeters to those small slits or even gut them and put some hifi interals.

Definately hook up the floppy(freedos/grub/gparted for fun?) and maybe put a dvdrom or bluray in there.

Lastly.. Install gentoo.

Fuck reddit and fuck you

>Definately hook up the floppy(freedos/grub/gparted for fun?)
Forgetting modern motherboards don't have the connector for the floppy, you nimrod.

Why is kindness and politeness so shunned in the last few decades?

>The flower-covered Barbie PC was supposed to encourage girls to feel comfortable with computers. Some critics objected to what they viewed as stereotypically gender-specific colors and programs.

Isn't it ironic that feminists seem to openly dislike feminine things?

>He doesn't know that most ARMs have a GPIO which is a option I suggested
Sheer faggotry..

You could also mount a usb to floppy internally if you have a 3d printer to make brackets or if you can fabricate with a rotory tool and plastic chubs or metal fab.

This looks fucking funny OP, I'm kind of jealous of your idea. Go docit.

Here's a floppy adapter ya fajjet (french for cigs)

(((he)))

Seems more patronizing than kind.
Like if you had a small tiny micro cock and everyone knew it but still said how massive your cock is over and over everywhere, you wouldnt be happy with it because you'd be reminded every time they said it that you actually have a small tiny dick that no woman wants.

Lifing a lie is kindness?

This

I was 14 and had a gateway, when i was 11 i had a ast

gambling is fun? looks pretty boring and pathetic.

In ten years this shit will have more 'collector' value than what you paid for, while the machine you'd build in the case will be worthless.
And you'll regret your purchase the moment you dig into the innards.

A feminist would've designed the computer to resemble a dildo.

The Dot Com Bubble days, when yuppie parents with more money than intelligence could be sold snake oil like this.

I lived in a college town in the 90s. Lived on a middle class street, like not even 5 year old houses so i guess upper middle class. I didnt meet one kid who had their own room computer. It was always in their dad's study or dining room converted to a study. I dunno what my folks were thinking, i guess because they hated me bringing kids to our house

Computer hardware then was still rather expensive by today's prices.

Also a only child, i just remembered like everyone else had siblings

I'll be selling its guts online, buying some Pentium 4 sticker and using the case for a modern build :^)

Good luck running a Celeron with no cache that will probably be DOA when you get it. I mean, these things were a gimmick for a reason.

you fucking got me.

Attached: tenor.gif (479x498, 375K)

It's pretty easy to do even today on modern hardware. The quick and dirty way is ordering a USB floppy drive, disassembling it, and hooking the guts up to whatever floppy drive you're working with. Change the USB A plug to an internal header, and done. Just because you can't think creatively doesn't mean other people are nimrods.

Or just get a Gotek. Whatever.

just colour customize a WASD.

The only naked female that guy's ever seen IRL was his sister when she was 3 years old.

True, but some people like using floppy disks. I've got a Gotek myself and find it to be pretty nice.

Whatever floats your boat, man.

There's a reason I got a Gotek, user.

usually when people restore retro shit it's because it held some significance, looks good, or is rare. none of those apply to that tacky abomination. congrats on trying to be ironically retarded and ending up the real thing

btw matchbox was the patrician choice

It has kitsch value and not much more. It's not like he's restoring an IMSAI 8080.

Gateway had a Rugrats and a Blue's Clues-themed PC back then, but at least they were a reputable manufacturer.

+1 and don't forget to donate your gold to based opede
