why the fuck not libreoffice? If you don't want to use Excel, which is fair, and you ask "Any nice alternative", libreoffice is the answer.
You can find several other spreadsheet softwares out there. Maybe google sheets? Just remember the terms and condition, google is allowed to generate data and revenue of you works.
What about FreeOffice?
Not OP but Libreoffice doesn't have a good excel alternative. That doesn't mean excel should ever be used in the way that it is but that is the standard.
Emacs org mode
ipysheet
Numbers, free with every Mac.

Kingsoft is your only reasonable alternative.
Use gnumeric, it's proven to be more statistically accurate than excel
Depending on how you want to use Excel, either R or Google Sheets. Fuck your requirements.
Gnumeric
Light, fast, it works, supports and outputs to most formats, can print files to PDF natively
$50 a year lol
Honestly what kind of work would you be doing with excel if you can't pay that?
Only Office?
Your employer should give you license for Excel.
If it isn't for work, libreoffice or google sheets are enough for you.
R, obviously.
JMP from SAS
ebay, you imbecile. ebay.
LibreOffice is completely unsatisfactory and annoying. I used to work with Excel and now i miss it so much.
Which means you were probly an awful person with a retarded workflow. Just use a programmatic spreadsheet thing and give up the babby shit.
this
Don't buy office 365 retard.
Buy the standard office 2016. it has a permanent license.
This. Got mine on eBay for $2.16.

If all you use Excel for is making monthly budgets or something then Google or something should be enough.
For everything else just spend the $100 and buy Excel.
Leary SQL and use a real database, you fuck-tard!
RStudio and/or SQLite.
gnumeric
