GPD pocket. Or that Pyra thing if you want something smaller and are okay with it being overpriced.

GPD pocket or Win 2 might be something to look into. Also, Sony Picturebook.

>GPD pocket

Doesn't do anything for me personally. There's something really quite aesthetic about the VAIO P. A dream machine would be a VAIO P style machine with a flexible OLED display that can fold out so it wouldn't be as cramped vertically.

Not to mention;
1. 10 days toa arrive to Hamburg (Germany) from alibaba source seller

2. Keyboard layout

3. Weirdest bios, and ugly drivers they made for touchscreen (I am a developer and I dislike this company even further, after the 5. happened)

4. The charger they sent it with had problems (well, it's a chinese charger, made for EU, wonder how they built it inside if they thought we have different wattage needs or not...)

5. The computer simply died on me while browsing the web, I was scrolling down on Chrome reading some stuff, and then it started flickering for about 1 second not more than 2, and then it shutdown.

Tried to turn it on, and the orange light is blinking for ever, and the most fun part is since its broken I can't charge the battery (You can only charge the battery while the computer is on, I told you about the weird bios before?)

PS: no, the source seller in alibaba didn't want to repair it because it didn't include repair services for the item when I purchased it (Yet when I went on to find resellers, I found out they do offer repair for free included in the price... I didn't think the manufacturer of the gpd would be so shitty regardless of them being chinese/HK)

>>> I wouldn't could GPD pocket as a replacement for Vaio P, even it the gpd has better cpu, its all illusory until it breaks on your hands. I'd take the Vaio P today over the gpd pocket. (also when it broke I thought, maybe they made this SUPER SHITTY laptop, to make you buy the next generation of GPD POCKET 2, with everything perfect, keyboard layout etc, so they cash you out TWICE of your pocket... I mean, I learned what the word "chinese" meant after this lesson)

>dat shitty aspect ratio

>>> I wouldn't ***recomment**

sorry, too late in germany right now to even pay attention

should have waited for at least 1/2 a year and bought it from alyexpress to avoid defective gpds.
I have one and it`s working pretty good, and I`ve had it for almost half a year now. Currently shitposting from it.

Nope, Vaio was really the perfect pairing to windows vista.

herr user please use one carrot instead of three.

because phones are now 6.2"

I'd much rather have a modern VAIO UX

Gemini PDA

>And that's a good thing!

Is there any use for this besides cyberpunk RP?

Certainly. I use mine for browsing, SSH, and games.

I have a p
Frankly it's garbage
Keys are too small to properly type

Dpi is way too high

I still love mine tho

gpd shills are the worst
asking for a modern vaio p
not that shit

>asking for a modern vaio p
And the Pocket is the closest you'll currently get

>browsing
What sites exist that don't slow it to a crawl?
>SSH
Comfy af.
>games
Only for old PC games, emulators would be better played on a hacked PSP/Vita or 3DS.

>What sites exist that don't slow it to a crawl?
With NoScript it's not as bad as you'd think. I don't have a problem most of the time.
>Only for old PC games
Certainly. It can handle some emulation but I've got a Vita for that. I use this for games like Sim City 4. I think Civ 4 would be great on it too but I can't get it to run on POSReady 2009 and haven't gotten around to installing XP. I've got a Vita for emulators but this is still fun to run some games on

That reminds me: will we ever see a phone with a slide out horizontal keyboard again. BlackBerry started making Android phones with keyboards again but those are all vertical and always there.

BlackBerry's got two keyboard Android phones. First was the Priv, portrait keyboard but it was a slider. Now there's the KEYone, which is more or less BlackBerry's Android Passport. The Passport itself and their other keyboard BB10OS phones can't officially be released with Android (or can't be released with Android with gapps or something like that) due to the aspect ratio.

Also there's that mod for that Motorola phone with the special expansion port on the back for a slider keyboard. I think it was a kickstarter though and don't know if it ever made it to production.

Give me one with new guts Sony.... Please, i dream about this baby.

>Sony
Why ask them? Ask VAIO.

I really love this machine.

Sony still has a firm hand in vaio. I honestly don't think they can produce an umpc without approval from Sony.

Sony has a 5% stake in VAIO

I sort of wish I got the model with the expansion card slot. At the same time I want to get service on my cellular model

Haven't seen Vaios of any kind ever since Sony spun off the division.

that's a girl's pocket book computer, op

And?

>he doesn't know about the surface phone
Oh, op...

>Planet Computers Gemini
>GPD Pocket
>Modded Vaio UMPC with the Core 2 Duo upgrade

They should do one of these again, but instead of sliding flat it should prop the screen up like the Vaio Duo 11.

Heck, they could release a 7-8" Vaio Duo with a core m3 and I'd take it.

>>Planet Computers Gemini
Just a cellphone with a keyboard
>>GPD Pocket
A very poor attempt at a modern VAIO P
>>Modded Vaio UMPC with the Core 2 Duo upgrade
A 15W processor with a 5W cooling solution, what could go wrong?

>instead of sliding flat it should prop the screen up
Fuck that

Attached: sony vaio.jpg (800x600, 64K)

Sony is putting its foot down is my guess.

Sony has a 5% share in VAIO, putting their foot down would do nothing

So what is keeping them from making bank on a modern umpc? It's not like them couple of laptops they sell now is cutting it.

>So what is keeping them from making bank on a modern umpc?
Them

Ich lachte

This. Unfortunately, it's ARM and a little finicky on the Linux side. Also, FUCK MediaTek.

Attached: maxresdefault.jpg (1280x720, 98K)

Is the Pyra better quality?

its fucking shit.

6. there is solvable in the BIOS, you just fucked up.

You have to disable USB C displayport in the BIOS, you can have the port set to charge in tablet mode, or use as displayport, but not both! it's some weird bullshit with intel chips.

Just buy a folding bluetooth keyboard and use your phone bro

Pyra is a meme from its inception:
>not considered for wider market
>problems with supplies
>quickly got beaten by chinese manufacturers to market
>it's waaaay overpriced, even considering what GPD asks for pocket and win

Why?

>Just a cellphone with a keyboard
they sell a wifi-only version, it supports Debian and Sailfish in addition to Android, you can have 4 OSs installed to boot from, it doesn't have a rear camera or dedicated volume buttons. It definitely does not seem like a phone to me. You can install Debian and use i3wm on it right now.
