you need a damn good reason not to used a deb or rpm distro, and a minor kernel revision or up to the hour FagWM is not a good reason

Wanna have some fun with 16.04 or 18.04?
Plug in an USB Xbox 360 controller and try getting that shit to work.

Honestly, I don't see why most people shouldn't run Ubuntu. I personally use Xubuntu - lightweight, compatible and fast. I guess SystemD is an issue, sure, but for those against SystemD, they can just go with Devuan or Void or something.

Fedora is secure, reasonably stable, but with fresh packages. It's also got the best default GNOME 3 experience, and if you aren't a fan of GNOME the spins are great. The installation is easy and you don't really have to worry about managing your system, and all things considered the installation is reasonably minimal (relative to other distributions that provide a DE & software out of the box). Fedora also often adopts new technologies faster than other distributions, and yet it is still more than stable enough for personal use. It may have fewer packages in its repos than other distributions but if you're just looking to get work done most everything you need is in the repos. Not going to claim it's the best distribution or that there aren't flaws, but if you're looking for something comfy, low-effort, and no-nonsense, I would recommend it.

I thought manjaro was good, but reliance on the AUR made me sketched out and I had a feeling that my games weren't running as well as they could. I switched back to *ubuntu and the performance bump is perceivable >inb4 your KDE is OLD
eh I've had problems with it, I restart often enough and every third day it "stops and restarts due to a problem" it looks nice, but I do miss how stable XFCE was back when I was using manjaro. I would have used xubuntu or ubuntu switched to XFCE but the one buntu has is hideous because it comes configured to look like another gnome clone
