SSDs are significantly faster per W and faster in general.
I don't use Wi-Fi at all.
I work in data & network security, and it is really too big a risk. I use cabled computers, and 4G forced through my own OpenVPN vps for my phone. I only use Wi-Fi when inspecting networks. Cannot recommend anyone security-conscious using it.
Yes, that includes you - even if you have chosen to hide SSID broadcast, upgraded the firmware & systems post-KRACK, have a long password that's hard to brute-force, use Repected Router Brand Foo, RADIUS, TLS on all connections, MAC address restrictions, sniffing for suspicious traffic, et c.

Didn't have any creative ideas so I named it after the video game.
facts aren't arguments
you're genuinely afraid of wifi so you've proven you haven't worked a day in security
you'd be fired on the spot if you didn't take any additional measures of security beyond layer 2 connectivity
you're a joke, larper

get a dictionary and take some remedial english, you require it (this like is not an opinion, what you are mistaking for an opinion was not an "argument" or "opinion", it was a statement that was factual)
>nope. the risk/benefit ratio is simply fucked.
if you were knowledgeable (you aren't) you'd know methods to mitigate the risks entirely, you wouldn't even be able to have a day 1 job without knowing your access control lists
>no proofs have been presented.
your posts are pretty much all the required evidence, you are completely inexperienced in, and lack knowledge about the field of security, which you are not and are far from being able to be employed in a such field
>routers
>I think this would be a good place for a well-formed argument instead of personal attacks, my friend
this reply is the first instance of arguing in the thread, again, remedial english is evidenced as something you require here
>making a 30 db yagi for 2.4 GHz range?
yeah, everyone else is the gadgetphile
you gonna go wardriving with that, skiddo?
that's a real old skool hobby huh, just like your dated knowledge that feeds the paranoia and lack of willingness to explore and self educate
you do not work in the industry, it's a fact
Install_gentoo
the statement was not factual.
I'm okay with you having those hot opinions.

also, it may be useful to bear in mind that you do not get to decide other peoples risk/benefit ratios. I don't use it because a) I don't need it, and b) it is unwise to throw all of your data out there, regardless of encryption level.

A few months ago I noticed my neighbors had been using my open Wi-Fi connection. I password protected it and changed the SSID to "[Surname] family get your own Internet." About a week later I noticed a new AP showing up when I scanned
