I plan on playing a few AAA games on here, but mostly stuff like L4D, Squad, GTA V, Crysis and a few games that are releasing this year and next like metro

Or is it best to wait until the next series of GPU come

4GB of VRAM will be more useful for modern games.

But is the 1050ti actually better than a 1060 in that regard?
If VRAM is more important going forward then the 1050ti should edge ahead in performance at one point?

Fuck off to /V, a thread died for this.

don't do it. if you have to game on a laptop, use steam streaming.

>Trusting /v/ with such a question

The only answer you’re going to get is
>Gaming laptop
>Anything less than 1070

That would require me buying a PC

How about you stop being a fag?
Build a PC, get a ThinkPad. Get at least a T440 or something else with an IPS Panel. Any pre T440 have terrible TN panels.

Get the i5 one, the only difference you'll see is a little worse multicore performance due less threads, which doesn't matter at all in most games, since they rely heavily on the GPU. And iirc there's no modern game asking for 16GB, but you can always upgrade that one anyway.

>4GB VRAM will be more useful than +60% more raw power
nah, kill yourself.

The difference between the I5 and I7 you listed is very slight and the only noticeable difference is the 1060 vs the 1050ti. If you gayme then the 1060, if you just jerk off to tranny porn then the 1050ti would be sufficient without being a power hog.

no, you can literally just lower texture quality and your vram problem is solved.
The 1060 3gb is 50% faster than the 1050ti

You can expect to get at least another 3 years from a 1060.

But personally I’d wait for the next line of cards. If they do anything significant then you’re better going for them and spending a little more. If they come along and it’s just a rebranded chip, at least the 10 series will be cheaper and those laptops you’re looking at go on sale for £500

1060 has like doble power of that 1050.
1060 is when gaming starts

>2018
>using incel inside
just wait for the chad chips to come out.

In any scenario where 1060 would be meaningfully faster than 1050ti it will be bottlenecked in memory. Who gives a shit if it's 400fps versus 300fps on the lowest settings, that's simply not how people game.

If you're a programmer, get the 16GB one. You're not gonna regret it. If you're bothered by the fact that you can't run games at max settings, get the 1060.

Not that guy but here's the becnhes for both cards. Also remember that OP will be buying a laptop so if he doesn't gayme then 1050ti would be the way to go because it would consume much less power when on the go. If the laptop is going to be used as a desktop (not be used on the go) though he should definitely go for the 1060 laptop.

The 1050ti performs weaker than the 1060 and the laptop variant 1060 has a 3 and 6 gig version

See this, the 1060 is sitting at 90-99% all the time, so the CPU will definitively not be an issue, unless you are playing something that demands more of the CPU than these games.

Enjoy your chiclet keyboard and sub R series build quality.

>suggesting the 3gb card
Memeing poor OP into a stutterfest I see - not cool, not cool.

(cont)
You also have the option of buying the 1060, the upgrade RAM later should you need more, since upgrading RAM on laptop is a piece of cake. The opposite goes for Vcard. Currently laptop DDR4 costs about $80/8GB.

>/V/

Wait till Nvidia announces their new cards.

wrong

Are you retarded? The 1060 can hold 1080p@60fps High on every game, while the 1050ti struggles at something between Low-Medium on most. The only difference between 3GB and 4GB will be that he will have to set textures to High instead of Ultra.

Are you really comparing a 1050ti with a 1060? Kill yourself.

>get the 3GB one, lower texture quality and enjoy 1080p 60fps at high
>vs
>get the 4GB one, put everything on medium and pray to it get more than 40fps at 1080p

Try playing Tarkov on that abortion on any settings.

playing what

try going back to /v/ you uneducated faggot

Uh, nice, some literally who unoptimized piece of shit made on unity with 2006 tier graphics that makes an overclocked 8700k + a 1080ti struggle to get over 70fps. OP will surely miss that
youtube.com/watch?v=bwrCNRBW_Ig

Escape from Tarkov.
Jerk off to benchmarks all you want, modern games need lots of vram. You must be really new to forget the 3.5gb fiasco - the fps is high but it stutters every second.

go back.

Build a desktop, a gaymen laptop will be outdated in a year and dead in 3, while a desktop can be expanded upon as needed.

kill yourself.

The 1060 is very much better. Quite significantly better, about 50% even with a 3gb version. If you’re going to get either you want the 6gb because it too is better (all excluding the vram differences). But since you’re falling for the laptop meme this may not be possible

3.5 is a fucking lie. it had 4gb.

>If VRAM is more important going forward then the 1050ti should edge ahead in performance at one point?
yes, at 800x600 with 8k textures

And this one is even worse. There's no point in the 3gb version, better save up some cash and get the 6gb version.

>Or is it best to wait until the next series of GPU come
you'd get a far better rig if you put that money behind a PC.

However, if you must, consider, Asus Zephyrus or Razor Blade Stealth 15.6"

Now think about what kinda group you want to get close with. Stop playing games, faggot.

Save and get a 1070. Or if the next line is out by then, 1160.

This 100%

Especially with next gen consoles round the corner

I fucking hate this HDR + over-saturation meme

>hey Jow Forums which sedan should I choose?
>buy a SUV, sedans are meme
>get a 2002 Civic with 10k of mods, don't listen fags recommending the modern one that's about the same price, looks better and performs better too
>no get a Porsche 944
>why aren't you getting a Ferrari? lmao
Every single time.

user do not use laptop for gaming
buy regular PC for gaming

Get a PC you mongoloid.
All laptops will overheat when gaming.
Mine went 90 degree Celsius during the summer
You got plenty of budget for a nice pc and a 200$ thinkpad x230 if you need a laptop for whatever reason

Buy a cheap thinkpad and a gaming pc then.

>I plan on playing a few AAA games
Buy the i5 with the 1060. It'll matter more than the difference between the i5 and i7 and the RAM for games. That being said, I'd totally buy the i7 with 16 GB RAM. But I'm not you; if games is the priority then I recommend the one with the 1060 over the one with the 1050ti.

This is worth considering, 8 GB becomes quite limiting pretty quickly. This being said, my 13.3" laptop with a N4200 does fine with 4 GB RAM. Yes, really - it's not like I'l do something that requires much more on a 13.3" with a N4200 anyway (I also have a 15.5" with 16 GB and a i7).

Totally not relevant to what OP is asking for; though it totally is something OP should consider. OP, you could be better off buying yourself a much cheaper laptop for laptop things and either a Playstation or a simpler desktop which could be upgraded and expanded later. You'll be stuck with a gaming laptop's configuration, it's not like you could upgrade the GPU or much else later. But your needs may vary. You can't bring a desktop to your cabin or a friends house.

>here's the becnhes for both cards
Can you link that site? I'm in the market for a new laptop and see on that pic that a 1060 is better than a Titan. What benchmark is this? I have a first gen Titan and it's a great card. Was looking at 1080 laptops, but maybe I'll look at 1060s now...

>7300HQ
>GTX 1050ti
Por que, mi amor?

kill yourself
but the one with the 1060 is better for you
back to Jow Forumseddit (slash "suggestAlaptop")
now fucko ff
saged

>gaming laptop for any reason
laptops are not an investment
the thermals will be shit and the battery life that of an evangelion
get a shittop and a desktop
you will thank me later

Attached: cawfee.jpg (627x885, 71K)

por que newfag

literally doesnt matter both are shit
get a clevo with a 7700 (nonHQ bullshit) and wont be half as thermal limited or power delivery limited as any """"GAMYINMG""" laptop you see on the market now.

to put this in perspective, there are laptops with the i5 you listed that outperform other laptops with the i7 you listed, in CPU-only tests, simply because of how fucking thermal limited that i7 can get when it runs hot.

can you niggers fuck off with telling people to get a desktop? Some of us travel constantly for work, and don't want to check-in a desktop at the airport every other week, and have to use the hotel tv as a monitor.

Attached: 1528242965972.jpg (192x192, 7K)

I refuse to believe you're this new, but that's "cpubenchmark.net" - don't trust anything there though, not in relation to laptop shit anyway.

and you really want to bring a 6 pound gaming laptop with you? how much of a manchild are you people?

>6 pounds
>manchild
user...

>and you really want to bring a 6 pound gaming laptop with you? how much of a manchild are you people?
My work issued w541 weighs 6 pounds. I have to take it everywhere with me. Goes into a backpack. Sometimes I also bring my old Dell with me as well.

what are you going to use it for?
gaymen? 1060.
everything else? 1050ti.
just because of the ram. if the 1060 8GB is 1 stick, you can add another 8 and go for that too.
the i7 is a waste. with the hyperthreading security flaw, might as well get an i5.

How would a Titan compare to a 1060?

1060 with 1152 shaders and 192bit bus is still faster than a
1050ti 768 shaders and 128bit bus with an extra 1GB of ram.
they're both clock pretty much the same on laptops but since it's a laptop, it all depends on the thermals anyway.
