I have 2 and I'm thinking about adding a 1tb ssd for random storage.

It's not that I need the super fast speed for all the data, it's just nice to not worrie about the drive getting damaged by the pc getting knocked down or temprature to a degree.

Pluss if you need the speed its there.
The prices are something to consider tho.

I have a dedicated server too where I store most of my shit on a WD red 6tb, but thats totally stationary, where this pc gets taken with me to lan parties and such.

This, if you're doing real nigga shit like editing video, a large hard drive is what you're gonna want because the write cycles of n SSD are limited.

Upscaled my 1600x900 syncmaster to 1920x1080 until I get an actual 1080p monitor

yeah because fuck each individual use case

and HDD have limited lifespans
your point being?

Attached: tuvok.png (824x850, 1.19M)

you are literally my favorite person

i love you

My point being is that the SSD will die really fast if you continuously write to it, it's good for read only stuff on a server, but then the capacity isn't as big per dollar as an hdd.

That looks awesome. How did you rice your screen like that?

both slut and plebian choice

how you liking the 3200 ram? ive thought about upgrading.
eventually gonna get a better GPU, maybe next year. the 970 is more than sufficient for now. second SSD will eventually become a drive for a home server HTPC setup thing.

Is this a Titan V quad SLI? Does this even work?
You don't need new RAM, OC yours. My shitty 2400 Crucial runs on 3000 CL18 now, muich faster. It requires tweaking anyway.
Wheres the problem? Its fantastic, paid 250 € for this early 2018. Outperforms a 5960X on 100 W, same performance than a 1800X.

I also have the 2700X. This is my energy saving rig, my other is my gayming OC performance rig. Next year I'll buy the 12 core Zen 2 and put the 2700X into here.

Attached: 1700.jpg (2351x1730, 657K)

also its 90 % of the multithreading performance of my 2700X @4.25 GHz

Titan V has no SLI connectors. GPGPU works don't need SLI anyways

What do you "game" on it?
>TFW a Pentium 4 still does 40+ FPS in 2016 DOOM

That videocard is one of the latest AGP cards released, it can play crysis at an acceptable framerate.

My other PC have nothing but SSDs in it.

This one is not a gaming PC primarily, so I only have two SSDs in this.

Don't put a fucking pic of a nigger next to my quote you retard.
Also read below:
>he doesnt want a 15 year lifespan and sub 10 second boot time on his desktop
MUH BOOTTIME
Grow the fuck up, fast boot time doesn't equal fast PC.
This place is literally filled with Redditfags that will follow whatever trend is set.
With the slower hardware back in the day a SSD would make sense nowadays it's just a Jewish excuse to waste money.

all i read here is "i'd don't know anything about ssds but since its a new and popular thing i'm gonna hate it so maybe i seem different and smart in a hungarian chicken catching site"

Owned 3 of em in every system, would shill tf out of them, but after I sold them I barely noticed a huge difference.

i have to deal with alot of laptops and pcs daily, and putting a ssd even in a P4 still makes it alot more torelable.
you get used to everything opening in a second to opening in 5-6 pretty fast.

>Acceptable
Do you mean 5 FPS? Even the top end cards of 2007 ran Crysis at 30 FPS max in 720p.

The card is Radeon HD 4650 released in 2009. The game is totally playable on medium settings.
youtube.com/watch?v=oAX0d3F3OfM

Oh its one of the later ones. The HD 3XXX really sucked.
>TFW HD2400 Pro until 2013
I just wonder because Crysis is so demanding and you just have a Pentium 4

>he didn't quote mine
damn :(

hi intel shill

Crysis downscales pretty well for lower resolutions and framerates.

S478, right? Why not put in a Northwood chip instead?

my chipmin

But there's nothing wrong with second gen Ryzen.

I wanna upgrade the mobo on this prebuilt.
Whats a good 1150 board?

Attached: spec.png (511x372, 20K)

>5 facts
>only 4

Yes, it's socket 478. Because Prescott is better? It's a 3GHz chip.

Northwoods were released up to 3.4GHz retail, and you can even get the Extreme Edition which has 2MB of L3 cache on-chip. Clock for clock Northwood is much faster than Prescott and it runs moderately cooler as well, but the hyperthreading implementation is worse and none of them support SSE3 or Intel 64.

Attached: 1464124822641.png (801x1500, 973K)

Interesting information, I wish I knew that back in 2005. It might work better for games but if the HT implementation is worse it will probably be worse for web browsing since modern browsers use multiple threads.
I'll try it if I ever get a Northwood chip for free, I'm not planning on spending money on that old machine.

I showed you my stuff, answer me!

Attached: 1530088892212.jpg (480x360, 23K)

why though

They're $5-$10 on ebay from US sellers. I don't blame you for not wanting spend money on such an old system, but if you search the spec numbers on ebay you can find results. And you'd be surprised; I can browse Jow Forums "okay" with my i845/2GHz P4.

The graphics card takes up the only slot on the board. I at least want to add a raid card, put it into an old mainframe case I have that has 12 drive bays and post pics in home server threads for the (You)s

reminds me this

Attached: 1521056519571.png (2000x1525, 759K)

But why do that in 2018, it will probably run better on a 20 € computer from the scrap.

I'm more impressed than anything
