As counter-intuitvely and memefully as I can, in the event that my computer is stolen, none shall make sense of the file naming schemes in their lifetime.

I give shit random names and hope for the best desu. It doesn't work well and I need to cut this shit out already.
all lowercase with underscores
Idk why but lowercase naming looks cuter so I use that.
(((I)))(((hate)))(((broccoli)))
lowercase and spaces are okay.png
Underscores just because filenames with escaped spaces in them are a pain
Underscores.
I have a question, how do you name your ebooks? I have so many that I had to start including non-titles in the filename to help sort them. Right now I'm following a "Publisher_Title_#Edition.pdf" pattern but I'm wondering if there's a better way.

Dashes for light separation, underscores for strong separation.

You're supposed to use dashes instead of spaces. Only use underscores if dashes aren't supported.

To cut down on filename size i use numbers with significance to file contents, my personal dewey decimal system. 2474.jpg is 2(blue/green color) 4(female) 7(red hair, non-pornographic) 4(4th in significance)

I like broccoli.jpg
for images, it's ilovebroccoli.jpg except if it's an art image, then Name of the Author - Name of Painting.jpg
for book it would be Author - Title.pdf
for songs, i have discographies only, songs are named 01. Title.opus
video filenames are left untouched because who cares.
#4, but usually also abbreviated
e.g. "uc.c" for a UNIX(R) crypt(3) implementation
this
i rename videos
i don't collect music
and i don't rename pictures
are you my opposite?

This is objectively the correct answer.
1) Uses underscores instead of spaces, +3 protection for scripts
2) Lower case, the chad case
3) Not a jay-peg-me file
All other answers are wrong.

Use svn or git
If your shell can't take "i love broccoli.mkv" as an argument using quotation marks, consider moving to a shell that isn't retarded.

What's the history behind using '_' and '%' as filler anyway?
Who the fuck does #3? If you're holding shift anyway, might as well use underscores

spaces used to end up as %20 in the browser or something so when dealing with files _ was always neater, now its not the case so much so I have gotten lazy and use spaces

I never use letters or numbers that can be confused for other numbers and letters if a letter can be confused with a number I use a number so my files are like. If a letter can be confused with another letter i use uppercase

I would add to this that if i write the word "click" unless you look closely it can be confused with the word "dick" So cLick is better
also if I write a word with two V's next to each other as in bevvies" that can look like a "w" so i would have "bevVies"
