Kdenlive is an option.
Of course the newer a build you snag the less bugs you will encounter.

Vegas is also trash in general. Sane defaults are completely unheard of to vegas.

Wine is another option.
And by option I mean it is literally the perfect solution. Carry your whole studio in a movable folder and edit on whatever machine you want to in whatever studio suits you best.

now that's a power couple, man has good taste

>what is Lightworks

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.

Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called "Linux", and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project.

There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called "Linux" distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.

blender or natron are good for power users/compositors
most other programs are garbage except for pitivi if you're just clipping shit up to show your family

>kdenlive
>do anything
>it crashes
wow yeah, great software

I can't get kdenlive to stop crashing like a chink f1 pilot, is sony vegas worth trying with wine?

>what is ffmpeg

Always.

You may need the latest wine, as in wine-staging.

We're currently at version 3.11, you can throw in DXVK if your application makes DX11 calls to translate them with ~70% efficiency.

CUDA and OpenCL render will be almost native.

Of course why I mentioned the bugs.
If your distro uses an older version you will suffer.

It's much like KDE plasma itself, if it's not the VERY newest, you will experience pain.

openshot's refresh was getting good, but crashed everytime I did anything when I tried it 2-3 years ago

no idea now
but at least the ui was good

unusable

>what is free software

it is free, but it's unintuitive

Does it have the GPL licence?

Vegas?Are you gay?

Best options are Lightworks and Resolve, don't bother with open source bullshit.

Vegas?
Are you fucking joking?
If you're so retarded to not use a Linux open source editing software, why not use Primere or After effects?

what is WINE?

Windows Movie maker in WINE

57/10 tits
3/10 everything else
mudshark

Davinci Resolve

Kdenlive you monkey
And you better fucking be on a rolling release distro using the latest version before you start bitching about missing features
