Who else here still using Windows 3.1?

Who else here still using Windows 3.1?

Until Microsoft brings the classic user interface to Windows 95 I will NEVER upgrade.

If you're trying to convince me to use windows 10, go fuck yourself.

But win 95 has option to looks like win 3.1

You can use progman as the shell but it still behaves like Windows 95, the UI is 95, and minimized programs don't iconize they turn into 95 titlebards

>Microsoft wants me to register and send them my personal details on a postcard

Holy shit how intrusive can this company get!

3.1's UI was so bad to use that there was a market for alternative user interfaces for it.
See, progman is kinda rough and cluttered, and winfile is fucking garbage to the point where I used to drop back to DOS to do any kind of file management.

>minimized programs don't iconize they turn into 95 titlebards
This always did bug me about progman under 95. It just looks wrong.

as for behavior, there's fairly little different in terms of feel when running 16-bit programs on 95 vs on 3.1

Just dual-boot ReactOS and TempleOS.

I am, on my 486 PC.

Everyone back then thought W95 interface was better.
The bone to pick was the terrible instability of the OS, which made many people wait for W98.
There was over 9000 ways to crash a W95 machine, including just waiting a timer to overflow.

You can unironi contribute to ReactOS. I was very skeptical towards this project but they are more and more convincing me it may be a good thing worth my time.

SimTower mother fuckers!!

/con/con

Still using Using PC-DOS on a 5150 here

Yes, that a purposeful way to crash it, but you don't need /con/con, you need to fill the GDI 4KB windows allocation table (which is not very hard as EVERYTHING is a window on windows).
The thing that fucked with Win95 was the insistence on running it on 4MB machines.
They squeezed the OS much more than they sanely could or should.

max gdi objects are still a problem even on windos 10 :P

KYS BILL GATES FANBOY

LISA OS IS TEH BESTZ0RZ

is there a win95 ui for 10?
no fading windows or opacity?

>UIs

(OP)
Joke's on you, OP. Windows 95 does have a choice of Program Manager instead of Explorer as the default UI.

Win95 was the only time where MS actually cared about making things easy to use

here in africa we use this system in our village computer

But all that does is put "Program Manager" in the startup folder

Wrong, it also does not start explorer.

In 1995, memory was about $40 a meg, so 8 MB would cost you $320, which would be equivalent to ~$530 in today's money. Microsoft couldn't limit themselves to high-end systems like that if they wanted to corner the OS market.

x86 is shitty architecture.
True guys use MOS 6502.

>having a proprietary CPU
>not wiring yourself an open source one using individual transistors

I know OP wasn't serious, but this is correct. I remember upgrading to Win95 back in the day and messing around with the config files until I changed a line from "explorer.exe" to "progman.exe". I changed it back, of course, because Program Manager sucks.

>that 30 year old boomer who refuses to upgrade
time to die already grandpa

god i bet none of you fags ever used Calmira

>True guys use Motorola 68k
fixed that for you

>linuxtard crying again
whoa this never happens!

not paying 2 k for 28K +64k expansion cards memory
wow what a loser
even in the 80's you where poor wow well why didn't you save up?

I will NEVER upgrade.
