Let's do a countdown..

I like casios

Attached: $_1.jpg (400x377, 43K)

I love my casios too. It's digital casios are very technology related to bh.

Post your seikos.

The w217h-1av is way underrated.

Almost bought one with the brown display. It's better then the f91w

just got my new citizen in the mail lads

But the w86 is the best cheap digital casio.

Nice one. Knaji day is always cool.

are there any cool casio watches that are colourful and bright, as in the rubber/plastic stuff

Go fuck yourself.

So do have you any interesting new pieces in your collection?

>This thread is about the technology

you are not fooling anyone

THIS WATCH LOOKS BEAUTIFUL I DONT CARE WHAT ANYONE SAYS

Still wondering whether either spam or reports will kill this thread first.

I would have if the customs boys were not fuckheads.
>Waiting on a 300 piece limited orient and an orient racer. Plus two other shitters

How do you define technology?

>So do have you any interesting new pieces in your collection?
windy here, I am looking for more watches for my gf

suggestions welcome

clip and clean your disgusting nails man

How is this a watch related post?

i finger my bum massive amounts theres no point

theyll be dirty again within 12 hours

>How is this a watch related post?

who are you quoting

(You)

Timekeeping tech has always been pivotal all throughout history, you absolute turbopleb.

Aside from the inferior legibility and worse resin strap, you mean?

Since I've mostly maxed out the high-accuracy quartz pursuit until the citizen 0100 comes out, and have maxed out the high-accuracy mechanical pursuit until the zo342 is more widely available (and I can't afford a patek tourbillon), I've been thinking about trying to build an atomic clock using a CSAC chip. Going to have to learn a lot of digital electronics though as I'm starting from zero.

Attached: Screenshot_20180702-093801_Chrome.jpg (1440x808, 252K)

That is a monumental task to pursue, I will follow you closely and I could try to help you in any way possible, though my knowledge is VERY limited too.

It doesn't seem that monumental? All the hard work is in that chip, which I would hope is capable of outputting a 1pps signal that I would just have to hook up to a display somehow.

Bought this last week. Thoughts?

Attached: 20180629_003639_HDR.jpg (3120x4160, 1.44M)

Sorry I read watch..
Still it will be quite the project for a total beginner.
Where can you even get that chip?

I think you can get them directly from microsemi for 1500usd. I'm hoping whatever other RadioShack stuff I need isn't too expensive. The display... That I don't know. I'm thinking maybe I can take an existing analog clock and just rewire the stepper motor to a pps signal from the csac. Then I don't have to worry about building a gear train, etc, nor do I have to mess around with a digital display. And I can always decide to make the display fancier at some point if I want.

I would go with a digital display myself.
Basic 7 segment leds.

Have to say that chip is darn expensive.
I would start with making a haq clock with a quartz crystal that is kept in a oven and rated fro airplane use or something.

>Bought this last week. Thoughts?
post timestamp or meme

Attached: Sreen Shot 2018.png (2090x1434, 1.59M)

Now this is some autism I can get behind.

Is the Suunto Vector acceptable? Im still mad someone stole my F-91 while on ship.

Attached: Snapchat-1577165857.jpg (932x1920, 359K)

I am at work currently but I will try getting a picture. Ref is SSC618

Is there a chip easily available that handles taking in a 1pps signal and outputting all the data for telling the time with 7-segment LEDs? I could build that all myself with nands but... would rather not.

I could use a temperature-controlled rubidium source but I feel like what's the point?

I just threw up

>I am at work currently but I will try getting a picture. Ref is SSC618
you know that's a meme watch here right?

Thoughts?
Did I fall for the biggest vintage meme or is this sick?

Attached: litronix.jpg (888x763, 69K)

It's a watch. It doesn't look like a very interesting one from what I can see but neither is the f91

MODS DO YOUR FUCKING JOB

Really neat. Does it work? Let's see it lit up

You're gonna need something like an arduino for the time and then a 7 segment decoder to display the time.

The point is that you don't waste 1500 usd by fucking up a atomic clock chip on your FIRST project.

Supposedly yes, will show it when it arrives.

Really? Why? I know Seikos are memed but I liked its look and I don't like mechanical watches.

Do you like the feel of the blue lined windyknob?

Tried a GS at an AD today and while the watch itself is impeccable the bracelet is unacceptable for the price Seiko is asking.

I don't even know what's that supposed to mean.

What's wrong with it?

FYI, the GS bracelets are finished much more intricately than Rolex bracelets for instance.

In what way? I've tried on GS before and the bracelets didn't seem substandard to me?

But shes been around, from getting blown up in the middle east to fucking hookers in Thailand. Than again what is something of it doesnt have sentimental value?

Looks very cool. Normally not a fan of black watches but that one looks good.
You can’t say that without telling us what watch it was and why it was subpar. It makes no sense.

Can someone identify?

Looks like some kind of Seiko Tuna, truly the AK47 of wristwatches.

Question regarding screw down crowns. Besides makes sure the crown is not popped out does it help with water resistance? Does it ad some pressure to the gaskets or task like that?

>FYI, the GS bracelets are finished much more intricately than Rolex bracelets for instance
It's just bait now.

It's just stupidity.

It's sad.

We get it, GS's have good finishing on the hands and hour markers (and no one cares), but stop just making up blatant bullshit, you're an embarrassment to this fantastic general.

Attached: 1516903834520.jpg (1000x762, 120K)

I'm not kidding, user.

Rolex bracelets don't even have bevels. There's hardly any manual work done to them.

>Really? Why? I know Seikos are memed but I liked its look and I don't like mechanical watches.

Have you two ever heard of basic boolean logic and FPGA/IC logic design?

You know that black snot on boards like calculators and clocks... thats basically a custom logic IC and thats what you need.

Arduino is shittiest of all tiers of control systems. besides blinking an LED it cant do shit right.

Learn about basics of boolean logic, then start learning VHDL, if you're gentoomen i recommend you QUCS simulator.

Also the accuracy of watch is not solely defined by accuracy of clock pulse signal. And absolutely forget about microcontrollers, you need a custom IC for that task

Sam Zeloof is a good guy to ask about custom IC fabrication, and its actually doable.

It looks like Jackson labs has a microsemi csac chip all packaged up and ready to use with usb power and an external pps port. Might just get one of those and not use the gps synch, since it is spec'd well within 0.001spy that I'm targeting even during holdover.

Gaps on the end links.

Rolex is the only brand that has no end link gaps.

Just save it.

Nothing you can say can make your opinion carry any weight.

You are conflating finishing quality with design quality. Just because a design is more involved does not make the finishing better. Design brings it into a more subjective realm anyway so most of these arguments are retarded anyway

Imagine spending $2500 on something this tacky and horrible.

There's a lot of letters in this post. I'm not sure I'm really with you on this though. If you just mean most off-the-shelf microcontrollers don't have the ability to handle pulses with picosecond precision, that's not so much my concern - I'm not worried about offset or even jitter in the ns range, I'm worried about long term stability better than 0.1ppb, which should be governed solely by the oscillator over a long enough time scale. It's not like any display system is going to have ns or even us response times.

I'm talking about finishing quality.
Rolex bracelets are pretty much entirely machine finished, while GS bracelets have bevels, little polished inserts in between the brushed parts (those are separate metal pieces), etc.

GS bracelets have much more going on, and have much more manual work done to them.

See for instance youtu.be/KKLXFtL4W7s?t=169
