CPU Overheat

CPU temperature often very high.
Can no longer play games due to constant bluescreen caused by the heat.
Dust has been cleaned and the thermal grease has been changed not too long ago.

Pic related.

Advice?

pastry changed recently, is it really possible that I need to change it again?

If you just reapplied it recently, no. It's possible that the cooler might not be flush with the IHS. Try reseating it.

Btw, speccy is notoriously inaccurate for thermals.

I did not use speccy to get the exact thermals, it was just for example.

pastry reapplied recently, yes.

reseating may work? noted.

Recently I'm having problems with the temperature of my CPU too. I only use the computer for normal things like browsing the internet but sometimes when I'm watching some stream, with a Jow Forums thread in auto-update mode and some other program the cooler of the motherboard is activated.

What is the dangerous temperature for a CPU?

I have read in the specifications of my CPU and it says that the Tcase is 72,7ºC. But I have read that dangerous temperatures are like 90ºC. I have read also that intel CPUs shut down themselves to prevent damage if the temperature is too high so that is a good thing.

But what is the recommended temperature when is working in some things? like 60-70ºC?

Yeah, first thing I'd try is reseating it.

K, going to see if anyone else pops in and has other ideas. The highest temp i've had was like 80-90 after bluescreen.

What cooler are you using?

I honestly don't remember what it is.
Computer is quite old.

how are you bluescreening at 80C my i5 runs at 96C under load sometimes just because i havent replaced the paste yet

you have a few alternatives:
> install another OS so you can check if that's some Windows bug (if so, reinstall Windows)
or
> Disable turbo boost
or
> delid
or
> Get another cooler to test the temps, maybe your cooler is fucked
or
> undervolt/underclock

If none of these work, your CPU is dead (really unlikely tho... CPUs are built like tanks)

I have no fucking idea. Your guess is good as mine.

Delid? What does that mean, not exactly familiar with these words.

No turboboost or overclock etc.

what error do you get when it bluescreens

That shit will drop temperatures by around 20C

Look at it, take a picture or whatever...

Also user an actual quality paste and re-paste properly and seat the HSF down tightly.

Sufficient airflow in the case? Etc... Take a pic of the innards?

this.

>CPUs are built like tanks
Odd, my old Phenom didn't stand up real well to being an RPG test target.

tanks in general don't stand up well to rpg shots unless they have those things that look like fences that cause the rpg to detonate before it actually hits the tank. shaped charges are no joke
