DON'T
they're built by LG, and have the same bootloop issues as many other LG phones do.
the 6P was released alongside the 5X and it's made by huawei so no bootloop (and it has better specs).

Traded my OnePlus 3 for a Nexus 5X.
Physically it's perfect, and bootloop aside since I've not run into it, the battery is awful and it lags sometimes.
Camera is pretty nice though.

It's worth it new for $200.

you can get infinitely better phones for the same price at this point

can you list some?

LG V20 on eBay.

Whatever the latest Moto G is.

iPhone 6 or 6s

I bought a present for a friend that had one.

It was a USB C PD charger for his motorcycle.
Just the day before it arrived his phone got caught in a boot loop.

Don' get it

6P isn't safe, it also has the bootloop issue.
While it can be fixed, you have to disable the high performance cores, effectively slowing it down to a snail's pace. In addition - you're done for, if the phone bootloops without an u locked bootloader

no

Shouldnt the cereal be made out of lg logos?

>recommending another phone which was involved in a bootloop class action lawsuit

2018

I've had mine for 2,5 years now and been lucky enough to not have it bootloop at all. It served me well and I appreciate that I'm on the latest Android version and all that but at this point it's simply too old. There's noticeable stuttering and load times when opening/switching through apps (not even a "poweruser", but even just a music app and the Google feed makes it feel sluggish). Again, it's definitely usable but if you're buying a new phone it should be smoother than this. I'm going to keep using it until the Pixel 3 looks like a worthwhile upgrade or the battery fails completely and I'm forced to look for something else.

>have v20 since launch
>no bootloops
Why are you full of shit, user?

>LG literally had to settle proving that V20 bootloops
>delusional LGniggers still try to rope people into buying that trash

>have v20 since launch
>no bootloops
>Why are you full of shit, user?

Next you'll tell me the law firm handling such large class action lawsuit and LG itself are full of shit.

6s, not 6 b/c of the touch IC issue. 6s is a lot more sturdily built

I've had mine for a few years now and haven't run into any boot loops yet. That being said, my Nexus 5 had them after about three years of use. So it's most definitely a common issue. I used a hard drive magnet to help unstick the internal mechanism of the power switch. Did the trick for a little while but eventually got to the point it did nothing. It's too bad phone makers don't put switches on easily replaceable ribbon cable assemblies anymore. Muh thin and light. But if you can get it new and cheap you should be fine for a couple of years or so.
That aside, its still pretty good for an all-rounder. I don't take many pictures, or use it enough to care about battery life all that much. Lasts all day, good enough for me. Built really well. I've disabled most of the bloat background apps and use a custom launcher to save resources, so no stuttering or lag. An issue I've run into recently was since the latest Android update, WiFi will drop randomly at times. I'm sure it's not the only phone it's happening to. I just don't own multiple phones, or keep up with phone news so I can't say for sure.
There are definitely better alternatives at this point. So unless you can grab it for $100 max, or its your only option, you should be content with it.

My 6P was sent back 18 months after purchase because it started bootlooping.

Nexus could've been great, Jewgle jew'd it.

they weren't worth it when released, and aren't worth it now

Still using the original Nexus 5, no bootloops. I mostly use the Hall effect sensor to turn the screen on and off to prevent wear.

Don't buy it. It's destined to be bootlooped and even if it doesn't it'll have issues like delay in fingerprint unlock/screen wake up.

Speaking of Nexus-like devices, is Nokia 7 Plus worth picking up?

It would've been a perfect phone if HMD allowed users to unlock the bootloader.

6P suffers from early shutdowns. Mine shuts down with 60-70% battery left when it is cold outside. Battery goes down to 1% and the phone is unusable until you charge it again.

Had that too, luckily I was still under warranty so I got a replacement.

The 6P bootloops too, and it has problems with shutting down prematurely. In my sample size of two Nexus 6Ps and a 5x, I've seen two early shutdowns (one very severe, >70% battery) and two bootloops (one of the 6Ps and the 5X).
Also, it's out of regular support and only getting security patches through the end of this year, so you'd have to go with custom ROMs.
I warrantied my 6P for a Pixel XL, which has so far been trouble free. I miss the extra 0.2" of screen and front facing speakers though.

I was able to get it up and running again to unlock the bootloader with a hairdryer.

Why does every LG device bootloop. Is it crappy LG software or hardware defect?

Hardware. The Nexus 5X isn't even running LG software. The soldering goes bad from heating up and cooling down or something like that.

What relation does HMD have with Nokia from Finland, if any?

End of life is October this year so no. Get a recently, still maintained phone instead. And I'm not talking about pajeet-tier ROMs but full security updates by the vendor.

No it isn't, hardware issues and all around bad phone for the price it's still selling used at. I can vouch for the people saying LG V20, I've had one for about 3 years and never had an issue, was the best phone I got for $150 and has LineageOS 15.1 on every variant.

>have 5X since launch
>no bootloops
Why are you full of shit, user?

It's a company registered in Finland, their headquarters is in Espoo, Finland, right opposite the Nokia HQ, and most of their execs are ex-Nokia employees, including the current and previous CEO. They inherited a shit ton of patents from Microsoft originally created by Nokia. It's basically Nokia's smartphone division reformed, just under a different company name, because what remained of the original Nokia decided to focus on network solutions.

Only makes it more puzzling what their bootloader unlocking policy is.

>Android P drops support for Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, and the Pixel C tablet
End of life incoming friend.

i got my 6P two years ago and had that last week for the first time, with aroung 43% battery left. never had it since then. i guess i will keep it as long as this won't become a habit.

5x has bad hardware, they randomly fail.

That said, its a great phone when it works.

this pisses me off. my 6P is still doing fine performancewise, google just want to sell new phones.

thats the objective of new products and an entreprise need to make money & money.

That's how it started with mine. It gets worse in colder weather.

>Traded my OnePlus 3 for a Nexus 5X.
i did the opposite & so did so many others. you're an idiot

>Friend had a 5X since launch
>no bootloops
>until it did, last week
You're sitting on a ticking time bomb, user

Fuck you and fuck your trips.
Goddamn i loved my nexus 5.
After 4 and a half year it started falling apart so i got the Nokia 5. Fair phone, for its price it does all that you can expect from it, but still. Nexus 5 was my favorite.

>buying 2015 phones
There was not a single good phone from 2015 that held up well.
Prove me wrong (pro tip: you can't)

Attached: maxresdefault.jpg (1280x720, 52K)

I got one of these right when it came out. Best phone I ever had. So aesthetically pleasing and performed really well. I never had a bootloop problem.

It just crapped out (lasted pretty long) and I replaced it with an Essential Phone cuz I can't afford the Pixel 2

What end of life? Those models have a selling point of being developer devices (aka having custom ROM support).

You are doing this deliberately and pointlessly, I'm convinced of it.
