eh, I'm all for putting off the shitshow that is a firefox upgrade
>the current state of Jow Forums
Not even Tumbleweed which is bleeding edge rolling release distro is touching anything but FF60 ESR.
This is why you should use an up to date distro such as Fedora

I use ungoogled chromium actually, dumbass.

nice one
sakura is so fucking hot
lmaoing at ur life
>update to 62
>spellcheck breaks and can't be fixed
> implying you are able to 'ungoogle' chromium
Gotta be honest here
I've considered switching from Xubuntu to Arch just for the up-to-date packages
hurr durr
Use a real OS.

>look me guys, i'm to intelligent
You thought you were being funny by posting that, you were picturing all the attention. Fuck you.
Sakura is pure and lovely, she's a symbol of love and an example of life, and one of my greatest memories of childhood.
You're safe there in your pathetic den of loneliness and stupidity, but I swear if I had my hand on you right now I would hurt you, you piece of shit. If life ever put us on each other ways and we recognize each other, I swear I will murder you.
>t.
Install it anyway
I do not have this problem when using Microsoft Windows operating system.
>Debian still on ESR 52.9, hasn't pushed ESR 60 yet
?
$ apt-cache show firefox |grep Version
Version: 61.0-1
Debian sid has Firefox 61
I don't blame them, FF releases a new version every week, what's the fucking point.
they got their own repo no?
got a newish ubungu install right now, but haven't really bothered getting that setup yet so whatever they have as the latest seems to be ok for me.
It is on snaps.
It's also available as an archive which you can just extract, and the app auto-updates normally without being system update dependent. But making a shortcut to an executable is cancerous outside of Xfce.
>ESR 52.9.0
Firefox after "quantum" is really buggy, and the distro's job is to protect you from upstream devs
Well I use unmicrosofted Windows.
theres a thing called ungoogled chromium
You can obviously "ungoogle" a FLOSS browser, but you can't do that for proprietary software.
Shitty point.
Jesus - just compile it from source. Fuckin' noobs...
Mozilla already compiles it for you, idiot
> implyibg you can't be hot and pure at the same time
Sad.
If you're in a hurry for it and can't wait, that's the route to go. If you rely on them to compile it for you, you undoubtedly get a lot more fluff and other crap included.
>I like shit
52.9 is the endgame.
You don't need to wait, they upload the Linux version immediately along with other OSs and you're free to download the up-to-date version www.mozilla.org/en-GB/firefox/download/thanks , it has an updater in it.
this is why non-snap/flatpak repositories are shit.
>get a lot more fluff and other crap included.
It's pointless to remove everything you don't like whenever an update is released. Disabling shit in settings and about:config is more convenient.
You're on the LTS (aka stable) version of debian...
Firefox 60 is not coming before 2019 :^)
>trusts a browser fork maintained by one guy and used by like 100 people
yeah what could possibly go wrong
install arch. (I use arch btw)
Install CloverOS
Actually, you can use windows all you want, and firefox 61 still won't be in the ubuntu repos. So, in fact you still have exactly the same problem.
There's a thing called suck my dick too but just because I say so doesn't make it so.
Is it less botnet than Google Chrome? Sure. But is it botnet-free? Not even close.
Install Windows 10 Enterprise LTSB.
Why is it that /usr/bin/firefox needs to be a symbolic link to firefox.sh on the relative path and a symlink on the absolute path won't work?
???
sakura sure is attractive in a carnal way
Stable, not sid or testing
>downscaling the 4k remaster to 480p
Ubuntu isn't for those who go looking for updates. It's for people who use their computers as tools and like the OS to stay out of the way while they work.
>attracted to cartoons
Try apt policy firefox. or apt show -a firefox.
700 shows the installed version is from a higher priority repo than the newer version (500).
It's available, tho.
>apt install =
Wait, how the fuck? Even Debian Sid has it. I thought Ubuntu just yanked most of Debian's stuff with a dash of some botnet and normalshit.
What a homosexual.

sucks to get memed by Jow Forums
I'm guessing mint has a firefox version in their repo because default linux mint homepage and rss feeds.
Otherwise, it's just gui stuff in the mint repo, and ubuntu LTS repos for everything else.
found the gay
Just install it in playonlinux and be done with it.
Linux offers no integrity whatsoever, so it even feels native.

How do people even use the new firefox?

Linux is a kernel.
Go on.
x86/32-bit support is outdated for no officially stated reason, so building that yourself is suggested for now.

Windows 7 doesn't have this problem.

year of the linux desktop can never happen like this, user software needs to be pushed out of the distros control.

get on my level plebs
I created my own browser. Not the same guy, I just felt the need to flex my superiority because i'm pathetic.
I created my own browser from the ground up. It is not nearly as good as something like Firefox or Chromium, but it is botnet free and I know exactly how to maintain it. Plus, I modified AdBlock and Cookie Self-Destruct to run on my browser. Support is low and sometimes they don't work, but like I said.
The job gets done. Ya' know, us Jow Forumsangstaz should make a botnet free browser together.
We always complain about these things but never develop a solution. A proper open source botnet free browser built from the ground up by Jow Forums is in order.
firefox --version
Neither does linux
I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you’re referring to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.
Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called “Linux”, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project. There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use.
Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine’s resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called “Linux” distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.

Why the fuck does your screenshot have window transparency? how did you do that?
Use Fedora. Tends to get updates a quicker but it's not autistic rolling release bullshit.
