Hi Jow Forums Any of you specialize in/have an understanding of vintage guitar pedals? I only just found out today that it's worth $500, and I just broke it a few days ago. LED doesn't light up, when used it works for about half a second and then fades to nothing.
Pic of internals, probably just need to replace switch

Did you try a new battery?
Michael Foster
Pedals run off of 9v adapters As for OP, when it broke did you hear a loud pop If you did, might've blown a cap, if you didn't the switch is probably diddled
You dun goofed with wrong polarity. Boss runs off negative centerpower supply, you fried the pedal. Condolences.

it's rated 9v 300mA
current doesn't really matter though, since it only "takes as much as it needs"

This. It's the worst. What a shame, it's a dope pedal.

yeah that could be, I'll check when I'm home again
also a possible cause could be the fact that I used my PC's mobo headphone output at 100% volume as an input to the pedal... when it's actually supposed to get much less

those aren't worth $500 lol. i have plenty of boss pedals including a spectrum sp-1 just because the only moron on ebay is asking 514 doesnt mean its gonna sell for that temper your expectations op i got mine for $150 and have had multiple offers in the 250-300 range but i'm not selling it anyway back to /mu/
also nice job breaking it dumbass lol learn some elctricity nigga
Nothing in there costs anything, so if you just want to get it back to a working state it's not a problem. I'm guessing you burned out some transistors or the IC, but I'm not smart. Go ask Also, those solder joints look like garbage.
