EliteBook or Latitude.

Silly user, Jow Forums doesn't actually work, we just pretend we do

I always imagined Jow Forums as that balding bedraggled looking guy that you might see working at PC World or something.

ThinkPads aren't dead. The older ones still work fine. I have a healthy mix of xx30 and before machines plus a MacBook Pro.

but the keyboards died with the xx30 series...

I'm sure you will find some other discounted 8 years old refurbished garbage for your "professional usage".

What are you talking about?
If you want new Hardware, buy that Lenovo thinkpad for 2k. Better than any MacBook.

Unironically the GPD pocket.

Which Lenovo ThinkPad?

ThinkPads are only dead if you're some dumbfuck who only follows Jow Forums trends and doesn't care about getting work done. Lenovo has made some poor design decisions, but modern ThinkPads are still the way to go if you need modern hardware.

>x86
>modern
Please.

Feel free to let me know when there's a legitimate and reasonably priced competitor, and then we can talk about x86 not being modern.

>inb4 ARM

Power9.

Still too expensive.

MacBook

Nobody cares about your budget. Whinging about price is not a legitimate criticism.

XPS13. It's the best dev laptop as of right now imo.

It is a legitimate criticism when you can get better performance for less money elsewhere. When it is competitively priced, I will agree with you. You cannot ignore money, though.

I wish, I'm just balding.

So you admit that Power9 is superior in every way except for the claim that it doesn't fit into your budget?

My personal budget has nothing to do with it. I am talking about something that most people actually care about. I could get a damn Talos II if I thought it wasn't fucking retarded of me to do so.

>>>MacBook Pro

say no more...

Attached: 1440176370359.jpg (464x290, 23K)

Why is using superior open architecture retarded?

Using something that costs more than it's worth is.

x86 is worthless.

You're making a value judgment. I don't care about your value judgment.

not in any laptop which is what this thread is about dummy

It's not a judgement, but a deduction.

Not the point, read the replies before you make a slapdick of yourself.

Based on nothing

He's right though.

Based on fact.

No he isn't. We're discussing processor architecture.

You're the autist being pedantic over my use of the word modern

op is asking for a laptop not some useless meme workstation that no one here would have any use for or would be able to afford

Good comeback. Do you always respond to legitimate criticism with such defensive shit flinging?
I was not talking to OP, I was talking to the other poster about processor architecture.

I respond to people with what they deserve to be responded to with. Quit derailing the fucking thread.

If anything I'm helping the thread by keeping it on the front page for so long. Go cry behind your libel, you coward.

this thread is pretty gay user

In my case, I'm the balding doctor that deals with junkies and drunks for 10 hours a day. But hey, the pay is fantastic and I'm home before lunchtime.

Latitude or MacBook. Or cheap HP laptops.
We pretend we do and we rice GNU/Linux all day.

But they don't offer anything Dell doesn't deliver too. Except filmsy and shitty keyboards and BIOS level malware.

I'm using IdeaPad because the keyboard on that is fucking amazing for writing. It's like a chink MacBook which fits perfectly for me.

uh you fags are doing the same thing

>cheap HP laptops.
no no no, even refurbished HP elitebooks are trash. Annoying that they even do that metal-finish plastic on what is supposed to be their top line, at least on their older elitebooks. Lenovo is trash compared to what they were before, but they're on top of the competition for build quality.

Name one other laptop with charging thresholds.

IdeaPad 710S user here.
I love this device. Got a second notebook (HP Elitebook 2560p) with Linux Mint, but the IdeaPad is my daily driver. Its thinner and lighter than a Macbook, it has a nonglossy ips display, 512gb nvme-ssd and the keyboard is godlike.
Its just the perfect device.
It makes me love chinks

What modern laptops still have batteries that you can remove without using any tools? I hate that everything has a botnet battery nowadays.

That's a cute tablet. I want one.

All elitebooks and probooks, lol
They also somehow have had much better battery management than lenovo for more than a decade. My dell and hp batteries all have much higher usable capacity left than my lenovo ones

There's literally nothing remotely close to something like X220 or T420 on the market right now. I thought of getting a replacement motherboard from 51nb.com or letting thinkpads go altogether and getting system76.com/laptops/galago

>All elitebooks and probooks, lol
I can manually set 35-70 thresholds? Is it some proprietary shit, or is there an open source driver for Linux and other systems?

There are ways to avoid balding user, google ru58841 and if it is too late search for hair system reddit.com/r/tressless/comments/8vohlx/shower_thought_wearing_a_hair_system_for_the_last/

>I can manually set 35-70 thresholds
Why the fuck would you do that? Never fully charging and discharging is what actually kills the battery, despite popular memes

>Why the fuck would you do that?
So the answer is "No". That's what I thought.

>Thinkpad is dead
I just ordered a new battery for my X230, a laptop I'm using to type this post right now. IPS display as well so bad screen memes don't apply.
The keyboard is worse in xx30 than it is in xx20 but other brands have even bigger cancer keyboards, so even the xx30 keyboard is better than others.

T480/580 L480 E480(its milspec now) X1C6

I use the pen like once a month they should've included the keyboard for free instead.

Convertables are fucking gay, why don't they have proper screen support so you can tilt them at any angle you want??

X1C6 masterrace

>a new battery for X230
Is it an original or a chink one?
Asking as when i'm going to buy either an x220 or x230 there will be a time i'm gonna need a new battery as well.

>10 hours a day
>home before lunchtime
You work nights?

you can tho?

No, they only attach themselves at 3 angles at most

I have a custom 1.

The original in my case

>Latitude.
>dell
>jew shit

No way.

The Dell XPS lineup

Except thinkpad isn’t dead and you are retarded

the only correct post ITT

>Now that the Thinkpad is dead

also I'm not a manlet so I just use my T530.

Attached: 4kb.jpg (4096x2304, 674K)

Wait what the fuck is that thing

Prestigio SmartBook 133S

Is the 710s better than the T450s? I can't decide between the two

Acer. I promise, you will want more or this plastic unkillable machine.

ThinkPad dead?
Explain.

hp spectre x360

I like the Lenovo A series.

AFAIK the xx30 ones don't charge chink ones.

>Now that the Thinkpad is dead
How so?

The new keyboard has a better typing feel than the old pre xx20 series one.

Zbook don't care about poorfags if your earning coin

>niche model that's not meant for you
>HURRR thinkpads are dead

>so bad screen memes don't apply
>he forgot about 1366x768

Those kind of tablets have more future than traditional laptops

>everything is soldered
>masterrace
>ever

the thinkpad

i unironically think this is cool

i unironically think you should reconsider your life choices

>thinkpad is dead
Where did this meme come from? Just the other day, one of my uncles recommended thinkpads when he saw me repairing my laptop. He commented on how the company he works at mainly relies on thinkpads.

1366x768 is a bit low but the screen is also 12" so if you have lots of windows you want to keep shown at the same time you're going to need an external monitor anyway. It doesn't look horrible if it's IPS and that counts the most. Web browsing and videos look good. Maybe 1920x1080 would be the best resolution, anything higher than that is going to eat battery without providing much practicality. Higher resolutions should be left to larger monitors than 12".

There was some hack for swapping the panel with Full HD one but it required soldering and some external chip. I'll rather just swap the whole device at that point. I just don't know what would be the objective upgrade from X230 that doesn't lose features.

That's the only way to get LPDDR. Totally worth it, IMO.

The 30's need a BIOS patch before they accept cheap batteries

Older Thinkpads
Chromebook with Linux

Sounds like the pixelbook

Chromebook with linux as an www terminal

Macbook pro of course

wow you sound like this doctor I work with.
One druggie pt called him a "big nosed jew" and he stayed cool as shit.
I was amazed, so much respect for what you have to go through.

x61s
in a couple of years I'll buy a used x62 or whatever they're doing to the x300 series chassis.
