Nah I just changed the css files that came with it, was way easier for me.

shame that your setup doesn't look like the windows one. your colors were good before. the new ones look way too saturated and everything just looks very bland.
you should also look into using tint2 or any other bar than i3status.

Ya I'm going to change the whole scheme tonight. Arrived at the same conclusion. My colours are usually one of the strongest parts of my themes so I'm dissapointed with this one
