none

Choose none of them, after install Awesome.
If you can't read manuals -- Xfce.

Cinnamon
>familar workflow
>extensions are good
>gets out of the way
>easy on resources, feels snappy
>good looking

this, Cinnamon is kino

XFCE.
It's the least bad option.

dwm, 9wm, 2bwm, maybe i3 or awesome

Mate is GNOME without the bloat

>be magyar
>take photo of screen instead of screen shot

xfce

>not using i3

print server

XFCE is my go-to, but unless your computer is old, try out some of the others

How tf is he supposed to?

doesnt matter, you can change it later, and even have multiple installed and switch between them as you like.

I would probably go with gnome at first install because it feels to me like the linux ecosystem is more gtk-heavy, so you'll need those dependencies at some point anyway

>which DE I should use
emacs.
install X
install emacs-x
create ~/.xsession
place "exec emacs" in there
startx
install exwm
enjoy

KDE

Gnome is the nanny WM. "Oh you wan't to change powersaving or audio details? To bad, we already decided what's good for you."

The newer KDE versions are lightweight and feature rich.

>I come from windows 7
Cinnamon

>Gnome is the nanny WM.
both gnome and kde are bloated cancer, but since op is fresh from windows it's probably best for him.
and I repeat my argument for gnome was the prevalence of gtk programs available (in my experience). that's it

>emacs
Gnome and KDE come with equally shit editors. Stop trying to complicate things for OP.

gnome just works

none
install windows 10 and don't even bother with desktop linux

It's bloated, and Gnome 4 is going to throw a real monkeywrench in the works, but it's seriously the only DE I can stand.

great argument satya

>debian
Xfce

XFCE

xfce. but you'll be back to w7. w7 is the peak of operating systems and ill be using it as long as possible

*sips*

okay fags I chosed xfce and cinnamon, but in xfce I have vsync issues while on cinnamon there is no problem so far

why you fucktard assume that I talk about editors.
He asked for a DE.
useless cunt.

Enlightenment

KDE, it's the more similar to Windows.
GNOME fucking sucks.

>Falling for this b8.
Why does everyone on Jow Forums take b8 so easily?

>KDE, it's the more similar to Windows.
So, you're saying KDE sucks? Thanks for the warning.

>debian
XFCE. Both don't get updates.

>using tasksel
>ever

>implying it wasn't counterbait

i3
Because it's not shit.

KDE is the white man's choice

GTK base with familiar workflow and isn't ancient.
It's everything gnome3 should've been.

This

im really happy with the new versions of kde, if you want a modern looking DE with good performance

Not OP. If I want to use KDE, is vanilla Debian a good choice or should I go with something like Kubuntu, Mint, or KDE Neon?

>If I want to use KDE, is vanilla Debian a good choice
I do that and it works for me.

MATE. Thank me later.

Because all of Jow Forums is bait. 90% of posts is just retarded junk coming out of faggots mouths.

SSH server is the only checkbox you should tick there.

Debian will do just fine.

Deepin looks very pretty

none. unselect print server. after you're done installing everything and boot up then install x.org synaptic wicd openbox tint2. but before installing anything after 1st boot up upgrade yourself to debian sid

now you have a minimal debian install

lxde, you'll be familiar with it and its th fastest

Thanks. Do you use third-party repos for more up-to-date versions of KDE?

upgrade to sid. i have not used kde on debian but im a long time debian user and my experience with debian sid so far is that it very very rarely breaks and new software takes 4-5 days to show up. there's that

Good to know.

You should go back we're full. You wouldn't like it anyway.

KDE is only good DE. You've been meme by neckbeards

>Not OP. If I want to use KDE, is vanilla Debian a good choice or should I go with something like Kubuntu, Mint, or KDE Neon?
Install Manjaro KDE

KDE has gotten quite comfy.

you would also like to know that i didnt upgrade to sid from an already installed and used debian stable but from a minimal debian install with nothing on it but a tty. thats the best way
